After finishing the first drink, we purchased the usual Paneporcini bread from Paneporcini after drinking around Fukushima area. As we were all buying bread, someone felt a little thirsty and suggested getting some sashimi to have with a little more to drink. There was a shop right in front of us, so we all rushed in with our bags of bread. The shop had no seats on the first floor, but seats on the second and third floors. Luckily, the private room on the third floor had a sunken kotatsu table, which was a relief. The previous Hanakujira was a regular tatami room, which was difficult for the inflexible me to sit cross-legged or in the correct seiza position. We had been drinking quite a bit, so someone must have ordered without us realizing. Quite a few orders were made, who was it? - Maybe the Deluxe sashimi platter? Tuna, amberjack, salmon, salmon roe, and botan shrimp in abundance! All of them were fresh and delicious! The raw shrimp was so sweet! The amberjack had a crunchy texture, the salmon had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. I really love sashimi! - Maybe the red snapper simmered in kelp? The red snapper is cooked on a large piece of kelp. When you drink this broth, it's the best kelp broth ever! The kelp umami spreads throughout your mouth, making it feel like you're in Hokkaido! The fluffy flesh picked from the red snapper's head was excellent. This was incredibly delicious! I couldn't find it on the menu, but we also had squid tempura wrapped in sea urchin and seaweed, and oyster tempura wrapped in shiso leaf. The combination of sea urchin and squid is a sure winner. The oyster tempura wrapped in shiso leaf was delicious with the added flavor of shiso leaf. Someone may have ordered a bit too much for the second round, but it was great to enjoy delicious fish. When I visited Osaka for a solo dinner during my return trip to Kansai, a friend recommended a restaurant where you can enjoy fresh seafood directly from Hokkaido. The lively exterior of the restaurant was a stark contrast to the calm and traditional Japanese interior, complete with private rooms. I started by quenching my thirst with a refreshing lemon sour after a long journey, and then indulged in Hokkaido's thick-shell live oysters steamed to perfection. The creamy oyster flavor and refreshing sea aroma brought me instant happiness. I followed the recommendation and ordered the deluxe sashimi platter, which consisted of 8 varieties for an astonishingly low price of 550 yen. The crab-topped dashimaki tamago, a popular dish, was visually stunning and delicious, with an abundance of crab generously heaped on top of the rolled omelette. A quick sear with a burner added a delightful aroma. For the finishing touch, I enjoyed the salt koji-marinated chicken zangi, which turned out to be a generous portion of 5 pieces instead of the 3 shown in the menu photo, all for just 769 yen. The crispy and juicy zangi was so flavorful that I couldn't stop eating. Despite indulging in a variety of dishes until I was almost bursting, the bill came out to be less than 3,500 yen. The cost performance was unbelievable. This experience was too good to keep to myself, so I look forward to returning with friends to try more dishes next time.

I visited a seafood izakaya called Hokkaido Seafood Nihonichi in Fukushima. They receive direct deliveries from producers, and they also serve Hokkaido local sake, which is great. One of their popular dishes is the 8-item sashimi platter for only ¥500, which is a great deal considering the cost is close to ¥2,000. They also offer a higher-grade sashimi platter for 3-4 people for around ¥850, which is a steal. I tried the crab and rolled egg dish for about ¥999, where the crab is poured over by the staff and then torched. The crab tasted a bit like frozen crab, but the rolled egg was delicious. The oysters were incredibly tasty, large, and rich. Overall, if you love seafood, this izakaya is worth a visit. The variety of the menu is so extensive that you can't eat everything in one visit, so a return visit is a must?! The prices are reasonable, so I could try various dishes. Very satisfied.

I tried the following menu at a fisherman's town: sashimi platter, crab and dashi rolled omelette, and cod milt with ponzu sauce. Located just a 2-minute walk from Fukushima and Shin-Fukushima stations on the JR line, Hokkaido seafood Izakaya Nihonichi is perfect for gatherings. I visited this time alone for a cozy drink. They handle various seafood, especially delicious in winter like crab, yellowtail, and cutlassfish. Nihonichi offers a variety of seafood dishes. I chose the famous sashimi platter and dashi rolled omelette. The platter had a wide variety of sashimi, including crab claws, making it a luxurious assortment. The dashi rolled omelette was generously topped with crab meat. The overflowing crab meat was used to make delicious hand rolls after being torched with a burner. I also ordered the seasonal cod milt, which was rich, creamy, and irresistible. I recommend visiting during the winter year-end party season. Enjoy your meal!

Craving for crab and sea urchin, I visited this restaurant hoping for a dish that is not as expensive as crab hot pot. The location is in a narrow alley south of Fukushima Station. Upon entering, there is a staircase and the seating area is on the third floor. There are about 5 table seats. I ordered crab with dashi rolled omelette, oyster fry, grilled stingray fin, raw sea urchin, grilled rice balls, seafood yakisoba, sea urchin tempura, grilled beef tongue with salt, and plum bonito tea rice. The crab with dashi rolled omelette had a bold presentation with plenty of crab meat, although the crab tasted slightly dry and bland. The oyster fry came with shells and tartar sauce. The grilled stingray fin was served with mayonnaise. The raw sea urchin came with seaweed. The grilled rice balls were topped with salmon roe, making them quite luxurious and recommended. The seafood yakisoba had slightly overcooked noodles. The sea urchin tempura was crispy and delicious with a large leaf wrapping the sea urchin. The grilled beef tongue with salt was refreshing when dipped in salt. The plum bonito tea rice had a flavorful broth. While the individual dishes seemed reasonably priced, the portions were small, resulting in a somewhat expensive bill.

I found a board menu on the sidewalk of Naniwa-suji, offering dishes starting from ¥500. Intrigued by the promise of a cheap and delicious lunch, I decided to give it a try. The sign on the awning read, "A shop that has built relationships with 11 fishing ports in Hokkaido over 10 years." This raised my expectations. The restaurant was located on the third floor, with the first two floors serving as a kitchen. The menu included ¥500 options such as negitoro don, young chicken tempura set, and horse tendon curry, while other dishes ranged from ¥800 to ¥1,500. I ordered the only dish that seemed to be directly sourced from the Hokkaido fishing ports, which was delivered to the third floor via a food elevator. The dish did not come with a small dish for mixing wasabi and soy sauce, which was a minor disappointment. The miso soup was warm and satisfactory for a ¥500 set. The negitoro was also good value for money. The only mistake I made was adding too much soy sauce towards the end, causing the rice to be soaked in soy sauce and making it difficult to finish. I hope they consider providing a small dish for mixing wasabi and soy sauce in the future.

Hokkaido Seafood Nihonichi (Fukushima, Osaka) Wednesday. Once again, lunch in Fukushima. Today I visited a Hokkaido seafood restaurant called "Nihonichi." I ordered the Zangi set meal, which includes Zangi (fried chicken), salad, potato salad, side dishes, miso soup, pickles, and rice for only 540 yen. The portion was generous and the quality was great, making it a fantastic deal for the price. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley near Jyoseibashi intersection, and the cozy atmosphere added to the overall dining experience. It was incredibly delicious and cheap. The best recommendation was the assorted sashimi plate for 500 yen, which was really the best value for money! When I tried to order hot sake, the chef came over and recommended cold sake instead, showing that they really care about their customers. Thank you for the meal!

I went in looking for Hokkaido flavors in Osaka, but the stairs just kept going up and up! It made me a little nervous for a drinking party with those steep stairs (lol). We came in at a weird time (around 2 pm) and there were only about 2 other groups of customers. The menu was extensive with Hokkaido-inspired dishes. The food came out quickly after we ordered, and they even brought out a bottle of sake for us. The only downside was that the air conditioning was a bit too cold. Overall, it had a fun izakaya vibe, so it seems like a great place for a drinking party!

Delicious and cost-effective restaurant in the Fukushima area. We climbed the stairs to the 3rd floor and were led to a table with a private room feel, separated by a screen from the ceiling. We took off our shoes before entering. Since we drove, we started with non-alcoholic beer and oolong tea. The appetizer was various simmered dishes in small bowls, with a nice homemade flavor. We ordered the amazing value menu - a sashimi platter for ¥500! It included shrimp, scallops, octopus, tuna, sea bream, salmon, seared squid, crab, and more. About 10 different kinds! And the ultimate cost-effective dish was the "Crab Bukkake Dashimaki Tamago" for ¥999. They generously pour crab meat over a rolled omelette, sear it with a burner, and the aroma is fantastic. The amount of crab meat is overwhelming, and for only ¥999, it's unbelievable. It also comes with two crab sushi rolls, where you can stuff the crab meat in for a DIY crab sushi. We also ordered the "Number One Croquette" for ¥399 and the "Sapporo Yakisoba" for ¥799. The yakisoba had a uni-flavored soup base, which was interesting. Overall, the "Crab Bukkake Dashimaki Tamago" is definitely a must-try here! If you order it for two people, it becomes even more luxurious.

I went to this restaurant that I've been curious about because they offer fresh seafood at a reasonable price! Located just a 2-minute walk from Osaka Fukushima Station, the location is great. The stairs are steep, so be careful if you're wearing heels. Inside the restaurant, it was bustling with energy! I went in the evening, and it was already packed with customers. First, we toasted with beer! On that day, they had a campaign where you could get a highball for just 39 yen per glass, which was a surprising price. We ordered: Sashimi platter for 500 yen, Crab meat mixed with dashi rolled omelette for 999 yen, Salmon roe sashimi - this was a special offer for making a reservation through Tabelog, Hokkai Crab Rice Bowl, Tender chicken skewers, Cartilage meatballs, Tuna and cucumber - this wasn't on the menu, but they kindly made it for us. The dishes were incredibly cheap! The sashimi platter, in particular, was impressive starting at 500 yen. It seems like they get a lot of fresh and affordable fish since it's directly managed by a seafood company. The Crab meat mixed with dashi rolled omelette was a dish I was curious about from the menu. When they brought it out, the staff sister piled the crab on top while cheerfully saying "yoisho" until we said stop. We got a huge portion. The salmon roe was a service benefit for making a reservation through Tabelog. It was so delicious. I wanted to eat more, but since there were only two of us, we couldn't eat much and regretted it. The prices are reasonable, so you can eat a lot without worrying. I want to go back when I'm in Fukushima again.

Then I had the sashimi platter, which was only 500 yen! The quality was great with fresh seafood from a fishmonger. They even had raw lamb jingisukan, showing their wide variety of dishes. Not only does the place look good, but the food is also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have private rooms and table seats, making it suitable for company parties or entertaining. This area is filled with popular bakeries and restaurants, creating a mix of Showa retro atmosphere and new establishments. Among them is the "Hokkaido Seafood Nihonichi Fukushima Store," where you can enjoy authentic Hokkaido flavors at a surprisingly affordable price, along with entertaining performances. As you enter, you'll see the words "Would you like to enjoy some incredibly delicious seafood?" in Hokkaido dialect. Cheers! ★Asahi Super Dry (medium) 499 yen (excluding tax) The glass seems to have been properly chilled. It's very cold – almost like below freezing. It's refreshing on a hot day! Delicious! ★Appetizers (shrimp, grated yam, okra) The shrimp and okra are prepared with care. It's nice to have soba as an appetizer. ★Assorted sashimi 500 yen (excluding tax) "10-11 item platter" A specialty item that costs 110% of its original price, but here it's only 2,000 yen (excluding tax) for a platter that serves 2-3 people. It's so luxurious! The sashimi includes octopus, sweet shrimp, scallop adductor muscle, tuna, amberjack, seared squid, snow crab, salmon, and grilled Thai fish. It's a feast! There are two types of soy sauce – a sweet one from Kyushu and a kelp-infused one from Kunnebetsu, which goes well with the sashimi. ★Thick shellfish soup 299 yen (excluding tax) On the left is grilled oysters, while on the right is fresh oysters. The oysters from Akkeshi are available year-round due to the low water temperature, and they are sweet and delicious. It's great for beauty and health! I chose to eat the fresh oysters with lemon – it's the best! ★Nihonichi's croquette 399 yen (excluding tax) Made with Kitakari potatoes from Hokkaido and Hokkaido butter, this croquette is a popular item at the restaurant. It's piping hot, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside – very tasty! ★Assorted skin-on (with liver) 999 yen (excluding tax) Thinly sliced, sushi, miso soup, and liver – a great set with high-quality fish skin. The sashimi is translucent and has a great texture. The sushi with green onion is a nice touch. The miso soup with fish backbone has a delicious broth. I used to dislike skin-on dishes, but this one changed my mind – it's delicious! The liver melted in soy sauce is incredibly tasty. ★Crab-topped rolled omelette 999 yen (excluding tax) This is extremely popular! The performance is also fun. While the staff says "Yoisyo!" and piles the crab, don't forget to chant "Yoisyo!" together! It's a spectacle! When the crab meat is piled high, it's torched to create grilled crab. It's fragrant and very delicious. Can you smell the aroma from the photos? Don't forget to try this – it's a must! ★(Left) Authentic sweet potato shochu "Norio" 499 yen (excluding tax) Produced by Shirogane Shuzo Co., Ltd. in Kagoshima. The sweet potatoes used are "Hamakomachi" from Kagoshima. It has a faint citrus aroma and a deep, sweet taste. While eating the sweet potatoes as they are might be the best, Shirogane Shuzo Co., Ltd. has crafted a delicious Norio shochu! If you're a fan of sweet potato shochu, you'll love it. ★(Right) Specialty malt limited edition local whiskey 499 yen (excluding tax) Produced by Honbo Shuzo Co., Ltd. in Kagoshima. There is a distillery in Miyata Village, Kamiina District, Nagano Prefecture. It has a sweet aroma and a smooth, mild taste.
