This is a holiday lunch with my wife. Normally, we only have Sundays off, so we can't use restaurants that are closed on Sundays, but this day was a public holiday and we both had the day off. In the middle of the office district, the Shikishima Building's basement has a few dining options open, but many are closed on weekends. The lighting on the floor is dim. "Sushi Shin Nakamura" has been operating in the same location for a long time, and when we feel like having sushi for lunch in the city center, we used to go there, but they no longer open on Sundays. This visit was probably the first in 7-8 years. It's a popular spot during weekday lunch hours, so we arrived right at the opening at 11:30 am. There are 8 counter seats, one large table for 8, and 5 tables with sunken seating. The interior seemed slightly renovated. There are 5 chefs and 2 waitresses. Customers started coming in one after another, but it seems like many are using reservations. The lunch set menu with good value for money is popular. We ordered two "B sets @ 1,180" each. When ordering, they mentioned that if you don't like certain types of fish, they can replace them with others, which was a nice touch. We were served tea and warm towels and waited for 9 minutes. The set included sushi like tuna (2 pieces), mackerel, white fish, salmon roe, shrimp, crab, salmon, squid, and inari. There were also three types of rolls, cod head soup, and yogurt mousse. The fish slices were thick, and the sushi rice was slightly larger. The vinegar-flavored mackerel was delicious, the crab was a pressed sushi style with king crab meat, and the squid was spear squid. We were completely full by the end. The price for this quality and quantity was unbeatable, making it the best value sushi lunch. Lunch sets start from A set / 980 yen, and all sets can be changed to chirashi sushi for the same price. The "daily bento @ 1,050" with limited quantities and good contents is also popular on weekdays. Each set also includes an extra 1.5 servings of sushi, which should be more than enough for most people unless you're a big eater. By the time we left, the restaurant was fully packed, so making a reservation on Saturdays and public holidays might be wise. If the timing is right, we will visit again. Thank you for the meal.
