The World Tea House Visiting Record Episode 9 "Etchu-ya 3rd Store" Etchu-ya's 3rd store is located across the street from Etchu-ya 2nd store under the elevated tracks of Tenkachaya Station. However, I never expected the reviews here to be so difficult... ● Episode 1: Takeout Sushi Edition Etchu-ya's 3rd store is a takeout-only sushi restaurant, unlike the main store or the 2nd store. The takeout sushi is actually made at Etchu-ya's main store. If they run out of a certain type of sushi, the manager of the 3rd store will call the main store to request additional production, and a part-time female employee will deliver the additional takeout sushi by bicycle. So, even if the sushi you want is sold out, as long as the main store has the ingredients, they can make more and bring it to you. ■ Takeout Sushi Lineup ■ The takeout sushi lineup includes: ・Makizushi 490 yen ・Premium Makizushi 860 yen ・Inarizushi (5 pieces) 430 yen ・Recommended Nigiri (3 pieces) 300 yen ・Barazushi 1080 yen ・Battera 540 yen *Horse mackerel, young sea bream, mackerel ・Anago Baton Sushi 1080 yen ■ Tried Everything on the Menu ■ I visited the store multiple times as usual and tried everything that caught my eye. ・Horse Mackerel Battera The thick horse mackerel was not fishy at all and had a good balance of flavors. The addition of wood buds between the horse mackerel and white kelp gave a wonderful aroma. The accompanying pickled ginger with sansho pepper added a nice spicy and aromatic touch. ・Anago Baton Sushi The most expensive item on the takeout menu, the anago baton sushi, featured a thick and melt-in-your-mouth texture. It was topped with sesame seeds, which added a delightful nutty flavor. This anago baton sushi is incredibly delicious! ・Inarizushi My personal favorite from the takeout store is the inarizushi. The deep-fried tofu pouch was thick and juicy, with a generous amount of chopped shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and burdock root, along with plenty of sesame seeds. The delicious tofu pouch is sourced from "Kuzaiya," a tofu shop in Kyoto. ・Kohada Battera The kohada battera, not a standard menu item, had a slightly firmer texture. The use of shiso leaves and sesame seeds added a nice fragrance. While it was tasty, I personally prefer the horse mackerel battera. ・Premium Makizushi The premium makizushi featured a luxurious mix of ingredients, including anago, mountain burdock, denbu, tamago, sesame shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, and trefoil. The crispy texture of the mountain burdock and the spicy soy sauce flavor were excellent accents to the dish, and I loved the taste. ・Barazushi The ingredients in the barazushi included octopus, shrimp, anago, squid legs, edamame, kinshi tamago, denbu shiitake mushrooms, and sesame seeds. While it was delicious, the only downside was the anago, which was a bit tough instead of the melt-in-your-mouth texture like the anago baton sushi. ● Episode 2: Standing Sushi Edition Since I visited the takeout sushi store multiple times, I became friendly with the store manager and learned various things about the store. Then, the store manager of the takeout store shared a surprising story with me. It turns out that on the store's regular day off, which is Monday, they operate as a standing sushi restaurant once a month at night. An intriguing revelation... However, there was one problem... I hadn't asked about the next operating day yet, and the store manager on duty for the next day was different from the 3rd store's manager. So, I had no idea when the next operating day would be. In that case... I had to get off at Tenkachaya Station every Monday to check! And thus, my long and arduous battle began... ■ Visiting Every Week But Still Closed ■ From the first Monday of June, I kept getting off at Tenkachaya Station every week... But I couldn't seem to catch the operating day. I started to doubt if they really operated on Mondays... Despite my doubts, I continued to visit for four weeks... Until finally, I encountered "X Day"! In June 2016...
