Ryoma-san has become so famous that it was selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I visited for the first time in two years since its opening. They now offer two types of set meals, A and B. I ordered the Gyoza Set Meal B, which comes with 2 servings of gyoza, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The gyoza had a rich vegetable flavor and was very delicious. The homemade sansho pepper and vinegar chili oil paired perfectly with it. The rice was surprisingly delicious, so I highly recommend trying the set meal.

Kyoto is known as the kingdom of dumplings, and this restaurant is famous for its delicious dumplings. Today, I came a bit late, so there was no line!! I went in, ordered beer and dumplings, and enjoyed them. The dumplings were piping hot with plenty of juicy meat inside. It's highly recommended to eat them with not just the sauce but also sprinkled with sansho pepper. Thank you for the delicious meal~

Visited after 7 pm. Was seated without waiting. Ordered the Gyoza Set B, which came to around 1250 yen for just the gyoza. Gyoza Set A includes gyoza for two people, while Gyoza Set B includes gyoza for one person plus two side dishes. The side dishes were delicious, but if you want to fully enjoy the gyoza, I recommend going for the Set A for two people. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

When I went at 18:30, there was a long line of foreign tourists, and I had to wait for about 50 minutes before finally being seated‼️ I ordered 3 servings of dumplings and a bottle of beer (including tax, 1820 yen)‼️ This restaurant specializes in dumplings, so there are mostly dumplings on the menu. I had their dumplings for the first time in a while, and they were delicious as always‼️ These are dumplings worth waiting in line for.

Visited for lunch. The gyoza is so delicious that I want to keep ordering more and more ✨ Unfortunately, the staff in the visible kitchen were chatting loudly about private matters, which was a bit disappointing. I wish they would stop forcing customers to endure noisy conversations while paying. When in the customer service industry, shouldn't the focus be on treating customers as business partners? If they allow this behavior, they should at least block the view of the kitchen and muffle the voices. It's a shame because the gyoza is really delicious...

I went to eat after a long time. Today, I ordered the A set meal, 2 servings of gyoza, and extra rice for 840 yen. There were about 8 foreigners eating today, taking photos inside the restaurant. I wonder if they found it delicious even though they were foreigners? Despite ordering gyoza set meals, they were also ordering gyoza separately. We enjoyed it very much. The gyoza is truly the best.

Thank you for visiting Instagram pateknautilus40. I visited "Gyoza-dokoro Takatsuji Ryosho Honten," a recipient of the Gyoza Hyakumeiten 2019 and 2021 awards. This is the main store with several branch stores in the city. It is located along Takatsuji Street, about a 10-minute walk from Gojo Station. The exterior looks like a casual dining restaurant with a prominent gyoza sign. Inside, there are counter seats at the back and table seats in the front. The restaurant was full of both foreigners and locals. The signature gyoza features cabbage from the award-winning Fushimi Nakajima Farm, marbled pork from Kyoto's Kyo no Miyako Buta, and Kyoto's traditional vegetable, Kujo negi, without Chinese seasonings. The gyoza is cooked with bonito broth and Kyoto-style miso from the prestigious "Yamatoshi," served with vinegar soy sauce, roasted seven-spice blend, and homemade chili oil. The crispy gyoza, perfectly cooked, with a delicious filling, is a must-try for gyoza lovers. The use of locally sourced ingredients provides both a sense of security and a delicious taste. There was a nice restaurant near the hotel I was staying at! It was a small place, but it was almost full around 9 p.m. on a weekday. Despite being quite far from the main street, it was amazing. There were many foreigners, and they kept coming even late at night. The main dish, the dumplings, had a chewy skin and a flavorful filling. The special chili oil and Sichuan pepper for seasoning were also delicious. They also offer set meals, so it's a great place for a main meal.

Today's lunch was in Kyoto. I had work near Kyoto Station from early in the morning, and once I finished in the afternoon, I was free (^o^)v I had already decided on a restaurant, so let's go eat (^ω^) Just then, my phone rang - an unexpected development - another job came in (;∀;) Can you believe it? A group left, and I was able to enter within 10 minutes. I was seated at the counter right in front of the kitchen and ordered the Gyoza set A. Originally, I planned to enjoy both the set meal and some side dishes with extra Gyoza, but... (ω-、) All the kitchen staff were young - were they part-time workers? There was a girl who seemed like a veteran in charge, but she talked a lot unnecessarily (-_-) They did their job properly, but... yeah. My ordered set meal was served. "Do you need an explanation of the seasonings?" "Yes, please." "&%#@★※♭︎ψ" I couldn't understand what she said at all (-_-;) Oh well, let's just eat. The Gyoza had a beautiful crispy texture. I took a bite without any sauce. Juwawawa~ delicious! Overflowing vegetable juice from inside. The sweetness of Kujo Negi and cabbage was amazing. A hint of bonito fragrance was also present. This was a tasty Gyoza. The size was just right. I picked up the table condiments. Was this miso sauce? I tried it on top. It had a rich flavor, unlike the miso sauce for Kobe Gyoza, but it paired well with the vegetables. This might be black shichimi. I sprinkled it on top of the miso sauce. Yes, this is it! This is good (*^O^*) I put the Gyoza on the rice and took a bite. The rice was delicious. This was quite a good set meal (^o^)v Beers were being poured one after another in front of me. It's frustrating, but there's nothing I can do (。>д<) I devoured two servings of Gyoza. I wanted to eat a bit more, but I had another appointment. It was a delicious lunch, but a bit incomplete. I visited the famous Kyoto dumpling restaurant, Gyoza-dokoro Ryosho, in time for the opening at 11:30 am. There were no lunch set options, so I ordered two servings of dumplings and beer. Ryosho's filling uses Kyoto ingredients and their unique Japanese dumplings are based on dashi with added miso. Despite the long line I saw the night before, it was calm inside on a weekday afternoon. The dumplings arrived soon after. The filling was delicious, the thickness of the skin, size, and cooking were perfect. They provided vinegar soy sauce, shichimi, and chili oil on the table for you to enjoy according to your preference. I enjoyed it with vinegar soy sauce and chili oil as usual. I had dumplings and beer for one serving, and a highball for the other. Personally, I love Gyoza from Skemasa. They have become my favorite. Kyoto is known for its high level of dumplings. I want to know more about Kyoto dumplings. The service, pricing, and food were all excellent, and I am very satisfied. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant because it is famous. Waited in line for about 20 minutes and ordered the Gyoza Set A with one side dish and a beer. What was brought to the table was a small dish of side dish in a soy sauce dish... honestly, I thought it was a complimentary dish, not good value for money. The gyoza had a lot of onions in it, but the taste was average. 12 pieces for 840 yen is good in terms of cost performance. The rice wasn't very tasty, seemed overcooked which may have affected it. In the end, the cost performance of the gyoza is good, but I felt like it's not necessary to specifically come to this restaurant for it.

It's a super popular spot at 6:30 PM on Saturday. There were 3 groups of 8 people already waiting, writing their names with pen and paper (old school, haha). We waited for about 15 minutes (the turnover is quite fast). Inside the restaurant, there are mostly women, unlike other places. It seems like a place where teenagers and people in their 20s enjoy dinner. The beer set is 1380 yen, and the Gyoza Set B is 980 yen (add 100 yen for cartilage soup). The drinks arrived in less than 5 minutes. Is this a small size beer? It feels a bit pricey at 600 yen... well, it's delicious. The gyoza is incredibly tasty, with a strong garlic punch. The skin is soft and very delicious. I would order more if I could eat more... but I'll stop for now. The cartilage soup is a must-try, worth changing for 100 yen in the Set B. It tastes like the tail soup from a yakiniku restaurant, and the cartilage is delightfully chewy. It goes well with white rice and beer, incredibly delicious. I will come back again. Gyoza with white rice is a must!

May 2023 - Memo - Still had time before dinner, so decided to try another place! Visited "Gyoza-ya Takatsuji Ryosho Honten" for the first time. Went around 3 pm, worried if they were open since it was quite empty. As I walked in, saw a solo female customer at the counter. Turned out to be a staff member having a meal. Place was practically empty! Ordered lightly since dinner was coming up: Gyoza - 1 serving for 390 yen, and a draft beer for 600 yen. The flavors were elegant, but personally, I find elegantly flavored gyoza a bit lacking. Hmm, a bit too refined for my simple taste buds... Thank you for the meal!

I had tried their gyoza through delivery before, but finally got to visit the main store of "Gyoza-dokoro Takatsuji Ryosho." I realized that gyoza tastes better when eaten at the restaurant. The gyoza served with original chili oil and black shichimi pepper is amazing!

I came to Kyoto, and near Shijo-Karasuma to Kawaramachi, there are a lot of foreigners. It seems like there are more foreigners than Japanese. In such a place, I went to Ryo Akira, a restaurant listed in the top 100 on Tabelog and featured in the Michelin Bib Gourmand. The gyoza costs 390 yen, and locals pair it with beer, but I, who care about my liver function, opted for the set meal with 12 gyoza (2 servings), rice, miso soup, and pickles for 840 yen. It's cheap. The gyoza is light, leaning more towards Hamamatsu than Utsunomiya. The filling is well mixed and melts in the mouth. Eating it with sansho pepper gives it a Kyoto flavor. Indeed, it was an elegant gyoza.
