Visited around 1 pm on a holiday. The restaurant was busy with working people on weekdays and leisure seekers on weekends. The cozy atmosphere with table seats, counter seats, and raised tatami seating area was welcoming. The restaurant proudly displayed the sign of Hokkaido soba. It can get crowded during lunchtime, so it's recommended for those who don't mind waiting while reading manga. The jumbo-sized soba was indeed jumbo, and the set of oyakodon and zaru soba was also plentiful. The menu also included dishes like ankake noodles and seasonal nabe udon. The prices for the soba are very reasonable, but adding a set can increase the total cost significantly. However, the generous portions make it worth it.

On a trip to southern Hokkaido, I visited Onuma Park and had Onuma Dango before having lunch at this soba restaurant. It is located in a tourist area but offers reasonable prices and has a spacious interior with counter seats, table seats, and raised tatami seating, giving it a casual atmosphere. I ordered the "mori" soba (420 yen), my companion had the "tanuki" soba (470 yen), my nephew had the "ebi oroshi" soba (840 yen), and my mother had the "kake" soba (420 yen). The wait for our food was quite long at 29 minutes, possibly due to the lunchtime rush. The soba noodles were soft but had a good buckwheat flavor, and were delicious. The soba broth was slightly sweet, and the soba water was cloudy but light in texture. My mother and companion thought the soba noodles were too soft. I am curious to try the "ankake soba" next time. Thank you, Yamazaki Soba, for the meal!

I had plenty of time before my flight in Hakodate, so I decided to take a stroll in Onuma Park. The view of Onuma from the train window was amazing, so I had high hopes for the park. I got a map from the tourist center in front of the station and set off. It was really beautiful. But, I quickly got tired of the same scenery. I had an hour to spare, so I thought that was enough. I had two hours until the next train, so I ate curry even though I wasn't very hungry. I passed the time at a soba restaurant. It was surprisingly busy. I ordered mori soba and read a manga. The soba had a nice texture and was delicious. They didn't serve soba-yu, but I didn't mind. I continued reading my manga. It was nice to relax for a while.

On the 3rd day of my trip in Aomori and Hokkaido, I left Hakodate in the morning and rented a car at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. First, I visited Onuma Park. The weather was not great and the roads were not crowded. There were not many people in the park either. I decided to take a sightseeing boat as planned and cruised around Onuma and Konuma. After a brief walk with an umbrella, I quickly left the park. I searched on Tabelog for a place to eat and chose this soba restaurant. The rating was not very high at 3.05, but the soba was really delicious! I had the kashiwa soba, which was warm. My wife had curry udon because it was cold. The soba seemed to be made with good soba flour, as indicated by the sign "Hokkaido soba" at the entrance. The soba was quite tasty, but the broth was lacking. The broth was not bad, but it was too hot. It might be the style of this restaurant, but I felt like it was crushing the firmness of the soba. A bit disappointing. My wife enjoyed her curry udon. After ordering, I noticed that the top of the menu listed "nasu tempura ankake soba," which seemed to be a recommended dish. I regret not ordering that instead. Overall, we had a satisfying lunch at this unexpectedly delicious soba restaurant.

I came to Onuma for work and decided to stop for lunch. The parking lot had 5 empty spaces out of 5, but it was somewhat crowded with office workers and families. I ordered the large serving of tanuki soba, and it arrived shortly. It was served in a large ramen bowl with plenty of noodles. The cost performance was satisfying, all for 570 yen. This is a budget-friendly option for everyday use!

Tenzaru soba for 1050 yen. There are 5 seats at counter A and 4 seats at counter B. There are 2 tables for 4 people each, and a small raised seating area for 4 people. The restaurant has air conditioning and provides disposable chopsticks, condiments, salt on the tables. There are around 10 parking spaces available.

Today is the Bon festival. During a cycling trip with my daughters in Ohnuma, we had our usual parent-child bowl and zaru combination. The soba had small grains of ice mixed in, making it cold and visually refreshing. A great idea!

I think this restaurant is like a typical casual soba shop, despite being surrounded by the natural beauty of the Onuma Quasi-National Park in Hokkaido. Unlike many soba shops in such locations that often serve high-end hand-made soba at around 2000 yen, this place is simple and unpretentious. The tempura soba costs only 1050 yen, which is quite affordable. The dipping sauce for the soba and tempura is shared, which may not please soba enthusiasts, but I personally like it. I enjoy dipping the soba in the slightly oily tempura sauce. The portion of soba is generous, and a side salad is also included. Some may criticize this, but I find it enjoyable. The tempura is freshly fried and crispy. The laid-back atmosphere of the restaurant is very soothing.

It was not recommended to me, but I entered this restaurant while exploring Onuma. It was always crowded with cars during lunchtime. Inside the restaurant, there was a counter on the right side facing outside, table seats on the left side, and a spacious raised seating area at the back. Looking at the menu, it seemed like a typical soba restaurant. I ordered the Katsu-don Soba Set for 1050 yen and the Tempura-don Soba Set for 940 yen. When the dishes arrived, they were huge! Oh wow, even I couldn't finish this. The donburi bowls were large, the soba was a decent amount, and the katsu-don seemed to have about three bowls worth of rice in it. The soba was a bit thick, and the broth was salty and sweet. The katsu-don had a strong flavor, with a thin cutlet. The tempura-don had a lot of batter and the shrimp was soaked in sauce. It was too salty for me, even some men couldn't finish it. Sorry about that. I recommend this place to those who like large portions.

Nasu Tempura with Sweet Soy Sauce Soba - Soba Tea House Yamasaki
One of the tourist attractions in Donan, Hokkaido is "Oonuma". In autumn, the beautifully colored leaves of the mountains reflect on the water surface, attracting many tourists and amateur photographers. Oonuma is also known as the birthplace of the famous song "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" by Masashi Sada. The lyrics for this song were translated by Mitsuru Arai, who had a villa in Oonuma where he worked on the translation. Doesn't it make you want to visit Oonuma?
Just a short walk from Oonuma Station, I found a sign for a soba tea house. It was December, the autumn leaves were gone, snow was falling outside, and the temperature was below freezing even during the day. I decided to warm up by eating some warm soba. Stepping inside, I saw a spacious interior with counter seats on the right, table seats on the left, and a raised seating area in the back. Since I was alone, I chose a table seat.
Looking at the menu, I noticed a unique item - "Nasu Tempura with Sweet Soy Sauce". A soba dish topped with eggplant tempura and sweet soy sauce. How interesting! I ordered it right away. The dish arrived with generous portions of eggplant tempura on top and a shiny, hot sweet sauce that warmed my cold body from the inside. Sprinkling the chopped ginger provided on the side along with cucumber, the flavor became even more refreshing. The soft egg in the sweet sauce made me feel happy.
As the restaurant started to get crowded, I decided it was time to leave. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

I went to this camp one day and decided to eat here. I wasn't planning on it, but I was craving soba noodles and this place caught my eye. It seemed like it was newly opened because the interior was clean and there were both table and tatami seating options. I ordered udon noodles and they were chewy and the broth was flavorful, it was really delicious. The version with chicken was even better, almost like a chicken soup! There were a lot of local customers. It's a hidden gem that I would definitely visit again.

I didn't have any other options, so I entered this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. I had actually intended to go to WALD across the street, but they were closed for lunch so I had no choice but to come here. It seems they don't usually take lunch breaks, but when I opened the door and walked in, the owner gave me a puzzled look. She was sitting at a table, reading the newspaper and watching TV. As for the menu, they offered rice bowls and noodles. I saw "Hokkaido soba" written on the menu, so I ordered that. The color was darker than I expected, and I thought "Hmm, I might not like this," but it was surprisingly refreshing with just the right amount of saltiness, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. The tempura was fried perfectly, and the soba noodles were cooked just right. It was a generous portion, probably around 200 grams. All of this for only 720 yen. Considering I had no other options, it turned out to be a pretty good find.
