In June of the 4th year of Reiwa, the opening hours are unknown, but on Sunday after 12:00, the curtain was up and you could enter. The assorted sushi set costs 1320 yen including tax and consists of 8 pieces with conger eel, amberjack, tuna, squid, scallop, salmon, shrimp, and octopus. It is delicious sushi with a good balance of toppings and rice.

This is a sushi restaurant in Tanabe, Osaka. Tanabe? It's not a very popular place, but this shop is quite interesting. The small interior with a nice sushi case and regular customers enjoying their food and drinks is heartwarming. Now, I don't really understand the concept of "sushi hopping," but I can eat as much seafood as I want! The assorted sashimi here is generous and hearty. It was full of firefly squid during the season, and the crab claws were plump and full of flavor. The simmered bamboo shoots were comforting and a dish that makes you feel Japan. I also had some nigiri sushi, and the conger eel was delicious. They only serve bottled beer and hot sake from popular brands. This was another wonderful sushi restaurant. Thank you, Matsuzushi! #Osaka #Savannah in Lion♡

Having a great time drinking at two different places in Senbayashi from noon♪ Taking the Tanimachi Line subway to go back home, I was wondering where would be a convenient transfer point. As I was looking at the subway route map, I noticed Tanebashi Station on the Tanimachi Line. Speaking of Tanebashi... I remembered the time when I visited Matsusushi Tanebashi, a branch of Matsusushi, as part of my tour of all their restaurants. Looking at the clock, it was already past 4 pm. Matsusushi Tanebashi is open all day from noon to night, but it closes early at 7 pm. It takes about 32 minutes from Senbayashi Station to Tanebashi Station on the Tanimachi Line. I thought to myself, if I leave now, I might just make it... So, I quickly hopped on the Tanimachi Line and headed south through Osaka city!! I decided to visit Matsusushi Tanebashi for a drink♪
About the dishes I ate that day, here's how it went...
- Assorted sashimi: The sashimi included sea bream, squid, cockle, firefly squid, sweet shrimp, and medium fatty tuna. Each piece was delicious, especially the slightly aged sea bream with a caramel color and rich flavor.
- Wakatake simmered bamboo shoots: A light dish to pair with drinks, the bamboo shoots had a crunchy texture and were cooked in a flavorful bonito broth.
- Crab claw vinegar: A vinegar dish featuring a generous crab claw that was full of crab flavor and enjoyable.
- Finishing with nigiri sushi: I had sea urchin and conger eel nigiri for the final course. The sea urchin was rich and sweet, while the conger eel had a tender simmered piece and a crispy grilled piece.
Lastly, I enjoyed plenty of sake at Matsusushi and had a great time. I visited three places that day, so I didn't eat as much as I would have liked at each stop. Next time, I'll make sure to make a reservation and enjoy a leisurely meal and drinks at one place. I'm sure the tuna will be delicious then. Thank you for the meal!
*The next review will continue with the Senbayashi area food and drink tour series!

The last stop of the plan to visit all 6 branches of the renowned sushi restaurant "Matsuzushi" that was split off from Tenkacha-ya is now at "Tanabe"!
About the Restaurant:
Located about a 7-8 minute walk from Nankai Line's Minami-Tanabe Station, the restaurant is situated just off the arcade of Tanabe Hon-dori shopping street. The atmosphere of the restaurant is that of a traditional sushi restaurant in a Showa-era town, with only 8 counter seats facing the sushi bar. Additionally, there is a banquet hall on the 2nd floor that can accommodate up to 20 people. The restaurant operates continuously from day to night, but please note that it closes at 7:30 pm.
Menu:
The menu is mainly focused on takeout, and the offerings are tailored to suit takeout orders. Options include various types of nigiri sushi, chirashi sushi, maki rolls, and other sushi dishes, ranging in price from 700 yen to 3200 yen.
Food Experience:
Despite initially having an empty sushi case, the chef was able to prepare a delightful sashimi platter consisting of snapper, scallop, squid & ikura, firefly squid, and toro hagashi. Each item was delicious, with the snapper being particularly flavorful, the scallop being thick and succulent, the squid and ikura offering a nice contrast of textures, the firefly squid bursting with freshness, and the toro hagashi being incredibly tender and rich. Additionally, the unexpected inclusion of whale meat, with cuts of red meat and bokus, provided a unique and enjoyable dining experience. Overall, the food was a pleasant surprise and exceeded expectations.

(January 2015) At the New Year's gathering with relatives, we always have Matsuzushi for lunch. This time, each person had their own sushi tub. The rolls were made with tuna and sea urchin. Here is a children's tub without wasabi. It had egg, cucumber, salmon rolls, shrimp, and even strawberries on top. The crab sushi was firm and delicious! This is a shrimp sushi. Another annual tradition is the clear soup. The soup is in a kettle, and you pour it into a bowl with ingredients already inside. I love the pickled vegetables in it (*^_^*) But my favorite is this fatty tuna! It melts in your mouth (*^_^*) This is yellowtail. The fluffy eel was delicious. Uni sushi and tuna rolls. It was a satisfying sushi experience this year too (*^_^*) Overall 3.5, Food 3.5
(January 2014) Our annual New Year gathering always features Matsuzushi's premium sushi (probably). The texture is firm and delicious (*^_^*) The eel is fluffy and the sweet sauce is tasty. The crab meat with crab miso on top. The crab miso adds richness and flavor (*^_^*) Uni sushi, the yellow color is beautiful and mellow. And the most delicious of all is this. Fatty tuna! The fat melts in your mouth (*^_^*) It was a satisfying sushi experience this year too! Overall 4.0, Food 4.0
(January 2013) Our family gathering always includes Matsuzushi delivery. We had tubs for 3 people and 2 people. We started with white fish. The eel was fluffy and delicious (*^_^*) Crab meat. Salmon roe, the grains are large and beautiful (*^_^*) The fatty tuna was so delicious with all the fat. I forgot to take a picture, but the clear soup with pickled vegetables was delicious with the sushi. They brought a kettle with soup and poured it into bowls with ingredients. The taste we have every year, it was delicious again this year (^◇^) Overall 4.0, Food 4.0

There was a sushi restaurant near my place that I had been curious about for a while. The menu by the entrance was mostly cheap takeout options like rolls and pressed sushi. Despite that, I decided to give it a try and went inside. There were hardly any menus, so the chef asked me, "Rolls? Chirashi? Nigiri?" I didn't know if it would be good, but I ordered "nigiri" anyway. It turned out to be surprisingly delicious! It was even better than the popular Sushiro sushi chain I often visit. After that, I ordered my favorite sushi like sea bream and sea urchin, along with two hot sake, and the total price was surprisingly low! It was less than half the price of Sushiro sushi! I highly recommend this place.

During the New Year's gathering with relatives, we always have the traditional Matsusushi sushi platter delivered. I thought the shrimp tails still had shells on them, but they were actually cleanly peeled. The texture of the ark shell was great and the tuna just melted in my mouth. The gunkan-maki with salmon roe was taken by my son who loves ikura. We also enjoyed other sushi rolls and inari sushi that the kids like. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the feast! Every year at the New Year's family gathering, we have sushi from Matsusushi Tanabe delivered. The adult sushi bucket includes shiny and large ikura gunkan-maki, tekka maki, otoro, shrimp, fluffy simmered anago, squid, and more. The toppings are all delicious. The children's sushi bucket includes futomaki, shrimp, and kampyo, among others. My 2-year-old son tried to eat futomaki with chopsticks just like the adults. The children's selection includes cucumber roll, sakura denbu roll, tamagoyaki roll arranged in a flower petal shape, with a strawberry in the center. Everything was delicious. It's one of the highlights of New Year's. Thank you for the feast! 🍣🍓

At a New Year's gathering at a relative's house in Osaka, we had the traditional Matsusushi delivered for lunch. Each serving was beautifully arranged in a dish. We enjoyed each piece, such as Tekkamaki, sea urchin, crab, and fatty tuna. For the children, there was sushi without wasabi, including Tekkamaki, Futomaki, salmon, and pressed sushi. Our one-year-old child hasn't tried raw fish yet, so we sprinkled Anpanman furikake on the Futomaki for them. We also had chawanmushi, which was topped with yuzu peel for a nice fragrance. It was the usual satisfying Matsusushi delivery we have every year. Overall rating: 4.0, Food: 4.0

Every year, there is a gathering at my relatives' house in Osaka during New Year's. And every year, I look forward to the delivery of Matsusushi. Each serving is beautifully presented in a dish. There are squid, crab, conger eel, tuna, tekka maki, sea urchin, and more. Each dish is delicious, so we savor each one. In addition, there is inari sushi, futomaki, and pressed sushi. They are just right for children. The miso soup comes in a large pot with the broth separate from the bowl of ingredients. It has slippery water shield inside. I only have the chance to eat water shield around this time of year, and I like its texture. This time, the sushi and miso soup were satisfying. Overall 4.0, Food 4.0
