I didn't know at all, but I heard from a friend that Sushiro, a revolving sushi restaurant that my family frequents, also has an izakaya. The name is "Sushi, Sake, Sakana Sugitama." They specialize in sushi, tempura, and Japanese sake. It turns out they have a branch in Kyoto, which I found out later (T_T). The menu is interesting and quite affordable, so we ordered a variety of dishes. The table was chaotic. Here are some of the dishes we tried:
- Cute Caviar Sushi: Caviar in a small can with rice underneath, only 329 yen.
- Sugitama Potato Salad: Shaped like a sugitama (a cedar ball), covered in seaweed, with eggs and pickled ginger inside, also 329 yen.
- Overflowing Sushi with Medium Fatty Tuna: A unique dish with medium fatty tuna, fish roe, and grated yam flowing out when you remove the sheet on top, 659 yen.
- Tuna Rossini Style: Tuna topped with foie gras, 329 yen.
- Drinkable Salmon Sushi: Salmon that melts in your mouth, 329 yen.
- Assorted Tempura: Includes shrimp, sweet potato, eggplant, and squid, 329 yen.
- Crab Cream Croquette: Two pieces with tartar sauce, 439 yen.
- Assorted Gyoza: Gyoza topped with seafood like shrimp, squid, and eel, 439 yen.
- Grilled Sushi Assortment: Salmon, mackerel, and eel, 329 yen.
- etc.
I had the tempura bowl for lunch, which was very filling and only 900 yen including tax. Overall, we enjoyed a variety of dishes and left satisfied. If you just focus on eating, it would cost around 3000 yen per person. We finished our meal without leaving any leftovers and headed home.
