Hannibal Barca
City hotel in Hakata. It seems to be quite popular as a wedding venue. It's a bit far from the main station, but it's not a problem if you have a car. Fukuoka has a subway system, so it's convenient to get around. When I reserved a single room (15 square meters with breakfast and parking for 13,900 yen), I thought it was a typical Fukuoka price, but luckily I was upgraded to a Deluxe Twin room (34.2 square meters). The room was more than double the size, with an additional sitting area and separate bathroom and toilet, making it very comfortable to use. Lucky me. Breakfast is served as a buffet on the 1st floor from 7:00 to 9:30. The atmosphere at the café Happy Hill next to the lobby on the 1st floor is clean and pleasant. The food includes a variety of Japanese and Western dishes, with a good selection of side dishes. There are about six types of bread, Japanese-style omelette, scrambled eggs, ham, sausages, meatballs, fresh vegetable salad, fruit punch, yogurt, and more. The Japanese side dishes are plentiful and well-seasoned, with dishes like simmered daikon having a rich flavor. There are also Hakata specialties like Mizutaki, mentaiko, takana, and kimchi. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the food is well-seasoned, with plenty of options for those who want to eat a lot, including spicy mentaiko, takana, and curry. Overall, it's a high-quality hotel with no major flaws.
