ごろごろはっちゃん
In 2010 (about a year after it opened), I used to visit this restaurant often, but had not been there in a while. I felt a bit regretful about not collecting the stamps for the hundred famous shops, so I decided to stop by. It's not so bad to revisit a restaurant for this purpose if it's not too far or if I don't dislike it, but there are many cases where I find it difficult - either the restaurant is too far, I don't like it, or I don't feel like eating there anymore. I don't even have photos of some places from the past 2-3 years. I could just stop collecting stamps, but it's not that easy. There used to be long lines when the restaurant first opened, but now there was only one customer ahead of me. However, there still seems to be a limit of 10 madeleines per person. The prices for croissants are around 500 yen, and while the prices for expensive bread and pastries have increased, they are not as outrageously expensive as before.
- Pain au Chocolat (Chocolate Croissant) 480 yen: Made with Échiré fermented butter, with three French chocolate batons inside. The chocolate is rich, but the croissant dough is average.
- Madeleine Échiré 340 yen: Lemon-scented with a strong buttery aftertaste. This one is delicious, I think. Sorry for the brief comments, but it's tasty.
Good butter from France and Italy is readily available in Japan now, including fermented butter, which was not as popular when Échiré first arrived in Japan. The chic packaging of Échiré used to make it special, but now... In recent years, freshly baked financiers have been popular, and there are other delicious options available as well. The constant queues that used to be there have disappeared, maybe for these reasons. In my personal opinion, I don't think it was good for their branding to have outlets in department stores. Some of the products there are outsourced, and the exclusivity of having to come to this location in Marunouchi to buy their products was important. I have bought their cakes in the past, but honestly, I was not very impressed, so I didn't buy any this time. They have a cake similar to Cattleya, priced at almost 1,000 yen per slice, which caught my eye, but it's still expensive. Retracting my previous statement!
