I usually only have a piece of pastry for breakfast to take my medication, but today I ran out of bread and got really hungry... So, I decided to visit this place that I had been wanting to try for breakfast. It is a restaurant directly operated by the bento (boxed lunch) manufacturing factory at Sapporo Station, where you can enjoy set meals, soba noodles, and bento boxes. They have been open for breakfast from 7:15 am for about 2 years now. It is conveniently located on my commute route, and since it's not crowded at this time, I thought it would be a good time to visit. They only serve soba noodles, udon noodles, and curry for breakfast now, as they no longer offer morning set meals. I ordered the curry for 500 yen. I was pleased to find out that coffee is complimentary in the morning. The curry was medium-spicy and the chicken, cooked tender in a pressure cooker, was delicious. All the ingredients melted in your mouth, and the curry sauce was surprisingly rich. It was definitely worth the 500 yen. You can also buy bento boxes and rice balls to eat here. The bento boxes start from 390 yen and most are priced at 500 yen. It's more cost-effective compared to convenience stores. They are only open on weekdays from 7:15 am to 2:00 pm, but they offer a wide variety of set meals at affordable prices. You can also enjoy fish dishes for lunch, making it a hidden gem that is not widely known outside of taxi drivers.

I occasionally use this place for lunch. The cost performance is good, and the food is served quickly, which is convenient when you don't have much time but are hungry. I ordered the fried chicken set. The large pieces of fried chicken are delicious with a crispy texture. The rice is a bit lukewarm, so I always microwave it. Haha I will definitely use this place again. Thank you for the meal.

East area, within walking distance from Sapporo Station. I have been using this place in the morning for a long time. It is characterized by the large number of taxi drivers who use it, to the point where you might think it is a taxi-exclusive shop (laughs). There is also an eat-in space, and it is self-service. They have a morning menu from 7:15 to 9:30. The order includes: Soba and Mini Curry Set (580 yen) [Soba] The taste of delicious standing soba. The noodles are soft without much firmness, and the slightly sweet and thick dipping sauce goes really well with it. [Mini Curry] It is a delicious homemade curry. It is easy to eat with little spiciness. I wanted to eat more. Sets from 500 yen are also popular. You can have breakfast here and buy a bento box to eat for lunch. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

On October 26, 2022 (Wednesday), I made a lunch bento box with twice-cooked pork from a long-standing bento shop near Isshiki Station that is cheap and delicious! The shop is located at 2-1-35 Higashi 8-jo, Higashi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. You can reach them at 011-721-6101. They are open from 9:30 to 14:30 (last order at 14:00) and closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. They have a parking lot available. This place is pretty good around Nishi 20-chome in Sapporo! 2-1-35 Higashi 2-1-35, Kita 8-jo, Higashi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. East from the north exit of Sapporo Station. Located in the Benntei building. Benntei is a famous store in Sapporo Station selling boxed lunches. Around 9 am, I passed by and saw that they were open. Inside, I found that they have been open since 7:15 am, with several boxed lunches already lined up. There are tables and chairs, as well as counter seats facing the windows for dining in. The menu has a variety of options. This is convenient because there are limited options for breakfast in the area, such as fast food chains or cafes. Today's special boxed lunch B (Grilled salmon with miso) is 500 yen tax included! A great deal for a full meal. The grilled salmon with miso has a rich flavor and pairs well with the rice. It also comes with shumai, fried chicken, rolled omelette, and pickled vegetables. The rice, which I believe is locally sourced from Hokkaido, is delicious. It's nice to have tasty rice. I'm happy with this find. The staff, especially the lady, is very friendly. I'm curious about dining in next time.

I had the Hoikoro set meal. I wanted to eat plenty of rice, so I came back again. The strongly seasoned Hui Guo Rou set meal is a perfect dish to mix with rice. I'm happy that it's only 560 yen. It's great to have a restaurant where you can eat freshly made meals like this. Thank you for the delicious meal as always!

This is the main store known for its standing soba and station bento at the station. The ultimate store where you can also eat in. Taxi drivers always come to eat here. ◆ Order: Katsudon 540 yen ◆ Overall impression: Order first. Pay at the register. Wait to be called to pick up your food. Self-service to clear your table after finishing your meal. It is very reasonably priced. The miso soup with green beans and tofu is delicious. The katsudon is generously topped with eggs, which is surprising. It's more like egg-topped than sauce-topped. Is this some kind of mistake? But it was delicious. The homey seasoning is also comforting in a good way. Next time, I might try the large portion katsudon or the Genghis Khan set meal. Right now, the takeaway bento seems to be popular. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much. I had the Genghis Khan set meal. I came back again because I was nearby and it was a weekday. The sauce is rich, so the rice goes down easily. Today, it feels like there's more meat. That's why I'm happy with set meal restaurants, because things like this can happen. The side dishes change every time, and they're always delicious, so I'm happy about that. Thank you for the meal!

I initially mistook this place for Bentaro, but upon entering and using the restaurant, I realized it was Benshitei. I was looking for a place where I could quickly eat while on the move in this area, and I found the main branch of Benshitei. Although I had planned to buy a bento and eat in the car, the restaurant was nearly empty around 2:30, so I decided to eat here. Lately, I have been buying and eating bentos about half the time. The set meal with plenty of sweet and sour pork and vegetables was very satisfying. The onions were occasionally spicy, but the generous portion was appreciated. The pork had a firm texture and came in small rectangular pieces, three or four at a time. We strive to improve the quality of the pork as much as possible. The onions were stir-fried until tender, with some spicy and stimulating flavors. The bamboo shoots and carrots had a commercial quality in terms of texture, but overall, they were below average. The rice was relatively tasty. The vinegar dish with bean sprouts and seaweed seemed more acidic than the sweet and sour pork sauce, but personally, I occasionally crave something with a strong vinegar flavor like this. However, it may be too strong for those who do not like acidity. The miso soup had a rich broth and included tofu and seaweed, giving a cafeteria-like feeling to the meal, which also reflected the impression I got from the restaurant.

I had the sweet and sour pork set meal. It was surprisingly only 550 yen including tax. It also comes with a side dish. On cold days, the miso soup with tofu and seaweed is a nice touch. The sweet and sour pork is well-seasoned and goes well with rice. Sometimes you just crave a meal like this from a classic set meal restaurant, right?

I had the Genghis Khan set meal. It was only 590 yen, which is so affordable! You pay upfront, then receive a numbered ticket. When your number is called, you go pick up your order. It came with two side dishes of pickles, and the miso soup with shimeji mushrooms was delicious! The Genghis Khan itself was also very tasty, as expected.

♪There is a spacious parking lot in front of the store♪No smoking♪Self-service from checkout♪Take-out bento boxes are also displayed☆LP☆I visited for lunch on a weekday. There is plenty of parking in front of the store, so parking is easy. Inside the store, there were middle-aged men on their lunch break and a few solo female diners. Next to the checkout, there were several pre-made bento boxes on display, but it seems that they can make the bento boxes listed on the menu when ordered. We chose to dine in, so we first placed our order at the checkout. KG ordered the katsu don (pork cutlet and egg over rice) for 540 yen!! LP ordered the katsu curry for 590 yen!! We received a number and waited at our table, and within 5 minutes, our order was ready. For rice dishes, you pick up on the right side facing the checkout, and for noodle dishes, on the left side. The service was very speedy and convenient for those on a lunch break with limited time. Chopsticks and spoons are available at the pick-up area, so don't forget to grab them. Wow! Both dishes were very generous in portion size! And all this for under 600 yen, it's a great deal. The flavors were reminiscent of home-cooked meals made by a mother. The curry seemed a bit like a commercial type, but still tasty. Other menu items are also very affordable, like the soba noodles for under 300 yen! I'll have to come back and try more dishes on the menu. This place definitely offers the best cost performance. Thank you for the meal!

On my day off from bringing my own lunch, I decided to look for a place a bit outside the city with fewer people. I wanted to avoid the crowded popular spots and thought I could always get a bento box to go if it's busy. I was in the mood for a set meal, or maybe some soba noodles! In the end, I wasn't really sure where to go haha. About a 10-minute walk from the office, there was a slight line in front of the restaurant. The wait wasn't too long to order, but it seemed like it might take a while for the food to be ready. The restaurant wasn't too crowded inside, but I wasn't in the mood to wait. So, I decided to grab a bento box from the shelf and buy it. It was an "Mackerel and Fried Oyster Bento Box for 550 yen." I had been thinking about getting a Mixed Fry set meal, so this was close enough haha. I was going to take it to go, but there was a seat open at the counter, so I quickly sat down to eat. The fry was still slightly warm, so it didn't seem like it had been sitting out for too long. It had been a while since I had mackerel fry. It's a classic fish fry and delicious! I prefer soy sauce over pre-pouring the sauce, so I enjoyed it with soy sauce and tartar sauce for the oyster fry. The rice portion was quite generous, and all of this for 550 yen was a great deal! I only stayed for about 10 minutes and still had plenty of time left when I got back to the office. I'd like to come back and enjoy a set meal when I have more time. Thank you for the meal!

Just before closing, the inside of the restaurant was in chaos. They were making bento boxes while also serving in the dining area. Taxis kept pulling up one after another. A beloved dining spot for everyone. - Pork Cutlet Curry: $5.90 It had been a while since my last visit. The prices had gone up by 10 yen. The curry had a sweet and soft, gentle flavor that I occasionally crave. The pork cutlet was a bit firm, making it easy for the breading to separate when chewing, which was a little disappointing. However, the portion size was good. The small side salad was a nice touch. The simple taste of the potato salad that also comes in the bento box is still delicious. Seeing canned cherries, which you don't often see these days, was heartwarming. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I used it for a company New Year's party lunch. It was a rich bento box delivered to us♪ ◎What I ate: Makunouchi bento box - Banquet A bite-sized rice ball and plenty of side dishes. Tempura, rolled meat, zangi (fried chicken), shumai, omelette, simmered scallops, grilled salmon, something with ikura (salmon roe), cherry tomatoes, 3 kinds of simmered dishes, bamboo mochi, pickled daikon radish. There were many dishes with gentle seasoning, making it elegant and easy to eat. It wasn't well received by the older men at the company as they found it lacking, but I personally found it much more delicious than the usual cheap and junky bento boxes! Thank you for the meal♪

It's been a while since I last visited, but the familiar atmosphere put me at ease. A few years ago, they used to open on Saturdays, and even earlier than now, which I preferred. Today, I arrived right at the opening time of 9:30... Oh, I'm second in line... (laughs) The soba and udon menu on the left side of the counter hasn't changed at all. I knew that the menu on the blackboard next to the register changes frequently. I confirmed that they don't have the soba set today. I came in with a specific target in mind, so I double-checked. - Pork Cutlet Curry $580: It's slightly more expensive, but still a reasonable price. It's necessary to feel the changing times. The letters on the blackboard menu look cleaner now... Next thing I know, the seats are quickly filling up as more customers arrive. It seems to be a favorite spot for taxi drivers. It feels like a sacred place. The bento boxes for their main business are lined up from the entrance to the register counter, and customers buying those and others who just came in quickly filled up the restaurant. And... here comes the customer for the Pork Cutlet Curry... I'm excited to see the unchanged visuals. I noticed after taking the picture that the canned cherries were mixed in the Fukujinzuke. The small potato salad here is simple but very delicious, and the nostalgic taste of it brings back memories. I enjoyed the shredded cabbage with mayonnaise first, and now... let's dig into the pork cutlet... Oh, the pork in the cutlet seems different now... I realized that they no longer use yogurt in the preparation. The pork cutlet was always big, but the texture and flavor have definitely changed. I didn't mind the breading coming off. However, compared to the old cutlet, I noticed a slight lack of cohesion in texture and taste... But it's still good, yes. The sweet basic curry sauce with chunks of pork and onions is delightful. The nostalgic curry flavor is a rare find nowadays. Ski resort curries have also evolved in today's world. Nevertheless, this one is delicious. I'm glad I came back after a long time. I ate to my heart's content. It was delicious, and I will come back again if I have the time. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo is about to end March. I saw on TV that in Honshu, the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom and it's time for flower viewing, right? Well, it seems like it's not getting warm enough, but the cherry blossoms are blooming at least. Even us locals can't take off our down jackets. Although, I'm just wearing a light down jacket. Today, I visited this place near my office for the first time in a while. (I've been hooked on the underground cafeteria at the Sapporo City Hall lately... haha) It's been two years since my last visit. As usual, only taxis are parked in the parking lot. Without thinking, I ordered the "Genghis Khan set meal for 520 yen." I waited while sipping hot tea. When they called out "Genghis Khan set meal," I went to pick it up and was surprised. The awe and shock I felt when I first saw it were completely blown away. I thought for sure there wouldn't be enough rice at that time... but now, I wonder if I should try the Chinese rice bowl or omurice next to see if there's any change...

Today is the last day of our two-day weekend for me and my wife! We went to the orthopedic clinic to get medication for my back pain and some pain relief tape. Then we went to the cardiovascular clinic to pick up blood pressure medication. I'm a busy guy at sixty! Why is it snowing in Sapporo today? After dropping off our second daughter at work, we went to a furniture store with my mom to look for a reclining chair. The one she chose was quite expensive and had to be ordered. We waited 40 minutes for the paperwork. As a local, I had to be patient, but in other places, I would have complained. We then went to have lunch at a restaurant called Benseitei. They were out of soba noodles, so I ordered the crab rice set and my wife got the bowl set with shrimp and mini udon. The food was really delicious, almost as good as in Nagamambe. I may be exaggerating a bit!

In March 2019, I revisited Sapporo Station and came across Sapporo Station Tachiuri Shokai, which operates both an ekiben (station bento) and a standing soba noodle shop. Established in the 32nd year of the Meiji era, this company has been around since the early days of the Sapporo to Teine railway line. I didn't know that they created the "Yanagi Mochi" when they first started. While I had heard of it as a famous Sapporo Station sweet, I had never tried it. The company, known for its variety of ekiben, also runs a dining establishment called "Benshokutei Honten." The taxi drivers always seem to gather here for lunch, attracted by the affordable prices and parking lot. The set meals are mostly priced at just one coin, and bento boxes start at 300 yen. They also offer standing soba noodles, a popular choice among locals. I quickly ordered the "kakesoba" for 290 yen. The broth was rich and slightly sweet, typical of the soba noodles enjoyed by Hokkaido residents. The noodles were pre-cooked and a bit soft. With fried tempura flakes available, I transformed my kakesoba into a "tanuki" soba. It was a light and satisfying meal, but not quite the same as the standing soba noodles enjoyed on the platform at Sapporo Station. Perhaps the nostalgia of eating on the platform adds to the flavor.

Oh my... I couldn't take a full photo because I spilled miso soup, I'm getting old (^◇^;) I edited the photo to hide the spilled miso soup. This is the dining room of Bentai, famous for its station bento. It's very affordable and a savior for salarymen! Today's fish set meal was only 550 yen, and I chose the silver cod marinated in mirin. The side dish was a small serving of simmered hijiki seaweed. The taste was perfect, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal, I will definitely use this place again♪
