The Cheese and Ham Hot Sandwich set (includes a drink) costs 970 yen including tax. The sandwich has mayonnaise spread inside, the bread is fluffy, and it's a high-quality hot sandwich. The cucumber is crunchy, and there's a thick slice of tomato inside. In retro-style cafés, you sometimes get flat hot sandwiches, so I was happy with the fluffy bread. When I asked for a coffee refill, the staff took away the paper with the amount written on it from the table, which made me worry, "Isn't it free...?" But they were just marking that the refill had been done. Sorry for doubting. My wife ordered the "Chicken and Mushroom Gratin," while I chose the curry. I was drawn to the recommended mixed juice on the menu and paid 650 yen for it. My wife opted for an iced Vienna coffee. The curry had a moderate level of spiciness, making it suitable for those who are not fond of spicy food. The taste was not like a ready-made curry but had a rich homemade flavor. It was delicious, but the portion of rice may feel a bit lacking for men. The mixed juice had a strong banana flavor, with more milk added, making it smooth and easy to drink without the strong taste of bananas. However, the portion seemed a bit small for the price. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Having lunch at Nankai's Eikokuya! It's a long-established café that I used to frequent when I was younger (although I'm still young...). Despite being a café, they have a wide variety of food options. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the beef curry and chicken and mushroom doria. For drinks, I got a mixed juice float and an iced Vienna coffee. The beef curry (760 yen) tasted similar to homemade curry with lots of meat. The chicken and mushroom doria (870 yen) was quite sweet, with nostalgic pilaf inside. The mixed juice float (700 yen) and iced Vienna coffee (650 yen) were both delicious. The iced coffee was quite strong, even with plenty of milk, and the whipped cream added a nice touch.

When I came to Osaka before, I also had ice coffee at a different branch of Eikoku-ya and headed to Itami Airport. I stopped by this time as well. The basement floor is a smoking room. It's fun to observe the interactions of the customers sitting next to each other. (And we are probably being observed too) One thing I like about Eikoku-ya is that the sofa seats and the single sofa seats facing each other are comfortable. Due to the location, they seem to ask customers to limit their stay to 2 hours, but you can relax enough for 2 hours. And above all, the service of being able to get one free refill of iced or hot regular coffee is wonderful! In a normal cafe, you might get a refill discount at most, but this generosity is lovely...! When I visited before, I ordered chiffon cake and ice coffee, so this time I ordered the same set as usual. The piece of chiffon cake was slightly smaller this time, perhaps due to price increases, compared to when I visited about 5 years ago, but the delicious taste and fluffy texture remained unchanged, which was reassuring.
