KEMURI-YA (Osaka, Kita-ku, Oohatsu Tenjin Minami)
Today, despite the cold weather, I headed towards Oohatsu Tenjin. Every time I go there, I discover something new. I never have trouble finding new places to visit, but I tend to end up choosing the same type of restaurant, which makes me wonder if I should try something different. I stumbled upon a restaurant called KEMURI-YA and decided to go in because they had "karaage" (Japanese fried chicken) on their menu. Although I usually order karaage, I felt like I heard the readers saying, "You always order karaage," and I also heard someone at another table mentioning the "recommended dish," so I decided to try the daily special, "pork with black pepper stir-fry and shrimp tempura," which was a rare choice for me. The kitchen in the back was making lively cooking sounds typical of a Chinese restaurant, but the atmosphere of the restaurant was more like a bar, with a calm and cozy ambiance.
After 12:30, the dishes were served. The pork with black pepper stir-fry and shrimp tempura were both full-sized dishes! They even offered me extra rice, but I thought to myself, "I could eat as much of this as I want." The thick soup was also delicious. The black pepper stir-fry had a strong peppery flavor. I managed to finish my meal without needing the extra rice, but then I saw the "karaage" at the next table. It was a large karaage mountain, with about 7-8 crispy pieces. I imagined how crunchy it must be on the outside while being juicy on the inside, and I couldn't help but think about the readers' voices.
