Tempura and kushikatsu may take some time, but the coating is crispy and delicious with thick cuts. The restroom sign featuring Billiken is cute. We arrived just before 9pm and the place was quite crowded, but they prepared a raised seating area for us. We started with draft beer (Premium Malt) and cheers for the second party of the day! We ordered fried potatoes, chicken karaage, and more drinks like highballs. This restaurant is part of a chain located near the station. It seems like they are renovating the older branches and the cost performance is good without compromising the cozy atmosphere. We had a great time drinking and chatting here, but I ended up drinking too much and surprisingly got a hangover the next morning... Thank you for the meal.

The fried potato lover wanted to have fried potatoes at the end, so although this is not a fried potato shop, we enjoyed the MEGA potato at this place. We also had steamed clams and kushikatsu. The MEGA highball and MEGA chu-hi went well with the potato, which was nice. This is not the type of place where you interact with the staff, but it is a good place to spend time with friends while chatting. It is a convenient place for both meals and drinks.

There are not many lunch options near Nishi-Kujo, so I decided to go to Manmaru under the overpass. It was past 1 pm, so I had the spacious restaurant all to myself. I ordered the tonkatsu set meal, which was quite affordable. It doesn't have any special features, but it's cheap so it's good enough. The breading tends to come off easily, but it's not a problem. I thought they only had draft beer, but they also have large bottles of 633ml, haha. The menu is small but the shop seems to be promoting draft beer. I didn't plan to stay long and ordered some light snacks, but ended up choosing the fancy skewers as snacks. All skewers are 100 yen each: lotus root, chicken neck, eggplant, pork and cabbage. The same sauce for all, but due to the impact of COVID, there are no shared stainless steel sauce pots... Double dipping is also banned now, what a shame. Four friends from Sapporo went on a trip to USJ and requested to have dinner at a restaurant that is typical of Osaka. We ended up at this restaurant where we were surrounded by the full Osaka experience. The staff were friendly and engaging, and we had great conversations with both the staff and other customers. Kansai people are so friendly and kind. The kushikatsu was delicious and affordable, and everyone loved the tempura squid. We couldn't help but laugh at how small the sashimi servings were, but overall, the food and atmosphere were great. Why is it that when customers order a set meal, they have to wait for their beer, hokke, and changja while the person in front of them who ordered sashimi and a set meal already got their food quickly? Not even a word of apology for making them wait. Absolutely terrible service.

I often use this restaurant in Nishikujo for a quick drink and meal! It's only a 30-second walk from Nishikujo Station! On this day, I ordered items like raw sea snails with ponzu sauce, duck liver, kushikatsu, hormone and vegetable stir-fry, and salt chanpon hot pot. The menu has many dishes that go well with alcohol, and most items are around 350 yen, which is very budget-friendly! The photo shows a serving of salt chanpon for one person, which costs 690 yen. It includes vegetables like Chinese cabbage, leeks, carrots, bean sprouts, and green onions, as well as tofu, meatballs, chicken, and salmon. In winter, hot pot is the best choice! The salty flavor goes well with alcohol. The dishes are served quickly after ordering, making it perfect for a casual drink. It was a delicious meal!

This time, we chose the one across the street where they serve hot pot. We arrived before 5:00 PM. Since hot pot can only be ordered after 5:00 PM, we started with draft beer, sashimi platter, and tempura platter. The staff, a young person (probably a part-timer), was singing while serving us. It might be a trendy thing for staff these days. At 5:00 PM, we ordered motsu nabe. As always, the gas for the portable stove ran out. It seems common for restaurants to provide dishes with less gas. The taste was decent, and we ended with ramen or udon. My friend recommended udon, so I reluctantly ordered it. The udon exceeded my expectations with its delicious chewiness. It was tasty and affordable, so overall, it was okay. Next time, I plan to order the kushikatsu.

There are two Manmaru branches under the elevated tracks at Nishikujo, but this one is located in front of the station exit, near places like Osaka Ohsho. On this day, I ordered the tonkatsu set meal. The lunch menu is extensive, but I might have made a wrong choice... The tonkatsu was thin, and the miso soup had almost no ingredients. After finishing playing basketball at a nearby gym, we decided to go for a drink around 3 pm. We quenched our thirst with beer and ordered lots of food and drinks. There were four of us, all lovers of alcohol, and since we're good friends, we never ran out of things to talk about. We discussed our families, relationships, and occasionally basketball. We talked non-stop. I even got drunk and started talking to the cute waitress. Before we knew it, it was already 9:30 pm. We ended up spending around 25,000 yen in total, which is about 6,250 yen per person. Well, that's understandable considering the amount of time we spent there. If we calculate it by the hour, it's about 1,000 yen per hour, which doesn't seem too bad. Towards the end, our voices were getting hoarse. It was a fun time. It was a day of day drinking and night drinking. The food and drinks were satisfying. We'll definitely go back again.

The menu offers a variety of options, but I decided to go with the usual karaage. Later on, I noticed they also had skewers for 100 yen each, so I ordered a skewer set with red ginger, lotus root, chicken thigh, and pork. The skewers were big and satisfying. The karaage arrived and after taking a bite, I could tell it was made with chicken thigh. It came with a foil packet of salt and pepper, which I used to enhance the flavor. Overall, the meal cost around 1100 yen, which I found to be reasonable.
