It's a gathering of my wife's middle school classmates at Kawachiya. It's like a girls' night out, but each person's spouse also joins. This time, one couple couldn't make it due to a family tragedy. It's a bit of an unusual mix. One pair is a mother and daughter. No problem at all, but I wonder if the daughter will be okay surrounded by older ladies and gentlemen? Well, at this age, losing close family members becomes more common. Kawachiya also bid farewell to an aunt last week. Still, we don't meet many times a year, so when we do, it's lively. It was a "nomikata" (drinking party in Kagoshima dialect) in Kyobashi, a somewhat deep place. The appetizers served on a large ladle were stylish. The rules are simple: order what you want to eat, no need to share, and no restrictions on what you order. So we ordered various dishes. Bonito sashimi, chicken nanban, live Kawahagi sashimi, satsuma-age, and more. The interesting thing about this place is the shochu "mantan." For example, if you order a bottle of Kuro Kirishima, which is a 5-go bottle, if there's any left, if you come back within 2 months, it will be served as "mantan." Kawachiya succumbed to this temptation. I ordered chicken skin with ponzu and desperately drank it, straight on the rocks. We spent 2 and a half hours there. I only found out about this system towards the end. From then on, Kawachiya drank like there was no tomorrow. Oh, my wife helped too. By the time we left the restaurant, I wasn't just tipsy, I was pretty gone. "Wait for me, auntie," kind of state. Oh no, oh no, but we headed to the second round!
