In reality, it's not a non-tonkotsu shop, but rather a tonkotsu one. The name of the shop and the appearance of the ramen caught my attention, so I wanted to check it out. However, on that day, they tweeted "Closed for the day," which occasionally happens. Due to the perfect timing of my visit, I couldn't go on a Sunday, which is when it's a big hit. Weekday night I finally arrived around 10:30 PM. The shop is located in a back alley, even further down a narrow street, and you need to rely on Google Maps to find it. I finally recognized the place when I saw the vintage movie-like sign above. However, the door of the shop had the sign "Tsuruya Saketen," so I hesitated and checked the sign above again. "Is this really the place...?" I thought to myself before entering. Inside the shop, it felt like a typical local izakaya. You have to take off your shoes, and there are table seats and private rooms. In the back, there is the kitchen and counter seats. There were two regular-looking women sitting a bit away from each other (both were cute) and I felt nervous sitting between them. They were both regulars at the shop, but it seemed like they were meeting each other for the first time. One of them is a hairdresser in the area, and the other lives in Kurume and works nearby. I was surprised to see a blackboard that still said "2019 Happy New Year" - they should update it soon! The shop's playful nature was heartwarming, with other fun things like congratulatory envelopes hinting at a connection with Hanamokoshi, and posters looking for boyfriends for Sacchan and Kaoru-san (who are they?). There were so many things to comment on, it was hard to resist. The owner was very friendly and gave off more of an izakaya master vibe than a ramen shop impression. Later, when I mentioned to Saito, the owner of LIFE IS JOURNEY in Kumamoto, that I had been to this shop, he said, "Oh! Gon-chan? He's from the same school as Ichifundo." It was surprising to see how the Ichifundo gene has produced numerous great shops all over Japan, and how each owner has formed a huge network of connections. Food & Drink List - Sake ¥600 - Tonkotsu-flavored Torofu Tamago (egg) ¥400 - Mogu Ore Ramen ¥610 <Total ¥1610> I originally planned to just have the ramen and leave, but since I was sitting between two beautiful women in single-drinking mode, I decided to switch to single-drinking mode as well. I had some sake and enjoyed the gentle sweetness of the tonkotsu-flavored Torofu Tamago before moving on to the ramen. Mogu Ore Ramen "I want you to enjoy the tonkotsu flavor while eating it lightly." This was the concept. The large daikon in the center was impressive. The unique toppings included daikon, chicken soboro, white negi, and green negi. The semi-transparent light tonkotsu shiratama was elegant and creamy, not matching the atmosphere of the shop. The noodles were thin, about 1mm square, but had a firm texture and were excellent. They were soaked in a delicate dashi broth, and the daikon, which was easy to cut with chopsticks, was delicious and satisfying. It was a shame that all the dishes up to this point were single-noodle dishes, except for the different toppings. The combination of gentle tonkotsu, daikon, dashi, and soboro was comforting. I wish this person would make more types of ramen. While I was eating ramen, about 10 people made reservations, and the customers inside began to move around. I love the atmosphere, but it can be unsettling when it's too crowded. But I would love to visit again!
