The Apocalypse Gambling House can be used by a group of 5 people for about 1400 yen for a 6-hour stay. They have a wide variety of manga available, and the free toast service starting at 6 am is a nice touch. They usually also offer free potato fries, which I would like to try next time I visit.

I had an early morning appointment at Kokura Station, so I decided to have breakfast somewhere in Kokura instead of eating at home. I thought about going to a station hotel buffet or maybe even trying the Regal Royal, but it seems that all hotel buffets are closed due to the COVID-19 situation. I tried to go to a hotel where I had a decent breakfast before, but the café was under renovation. So, I searched for a restaurant with breakfast on Tabelog and found a place called "Hotto Motto." I headed there to buy a bento box, but unfortunately, they were not open for breakfast at that time (they opened at 10:00). I updated the store information, but now I had to figure out where to have breakfast. I found a manga café with no reviews, so I decided to check it out. They offered a "free morning" with bread and margarine, as well as fried potatoes with ketchup. The bread could be toasted, and there was a machine to warm up the frozen fries, although they ended up a bit dry. But hey, it's free, so I can't complain. Manga cafes usually have a free drink bar, so I could have coffee with the bread and cola with the fries, which was a nice touch. As for the manga selection, the café had a decent variety of magazines and new releases, but the selection was not extensive. Other manga cafes in the area had similar selections, but one in Nakatsu called "Kaikatsu CLUB" had a wider variety and a convenient PC search feature for finding books.
