Fukuoka Gourmet Trip! Introducing the quiet old folk house cafe "Hiyoribi" located near Yakuin Odori in the Tenjin area of Fukuoka. When I went for lunch, it was empty, but a male staff member came out and said, "We are fully booked." It seemed like they had reservations... but captivated by the stylish atmosphere of the old folk house, I made a reservation for an hour later and returned to pass the time. Although there were only a few customers here and there, they may have spaced out the seating due to COVID. I was seated by the window and enjoyed the atmosphere of the old folk house while having sweets instead of lunch.
Three-color Warabi Mochi with Amami Kibi Honey (450 yen) - Three colors of Warabi Mochi. The Amami kibi honey, made from sugar cane, generously drizzled over the kinako powder, has a gentle sweetness that perfectly matches the Warabi Mochi.
Yame Tea (450 yen) - I prefer warm tea over coffee with sweet Japanese confections... and you can have free refills at this price~ Yame Tea is a famous tea from Fukuoka and has a slight unique taste. It is rich in umami but with a hint of bitterness. However, this slight uniqueness pairs well with sweet treats... If you plan to go, it might be better to make a reservation beforehand? The atmosphere is nice, so be sure to enjoy a quiet cafe time!
