I went to a Monja restaurant with my daughter who loves Monja. The neighborhood Monja-yaki restaurant we usually go to was fully booked, so we found one through Tabelog. The staff's service was very good, and the atmosphere was nice. It was my first time trying self-cooking, and I think I did quite well. I got full from making it, so I feel like I couldn't eat as much as usual. There were also interesting menu options, so I think it's worth a visit.

In Fukuoka city, it's rare to find a restaurant specialized in monjayaki. My family had it for the first time in a few years. You cook it yourself, so the taste depends on your skills. The specialty menu, Egg Chicken Ramen Monja for 1050 yen, has a rich flavor that goes well with alcohol. They are open until 6 in the morning, so it's recommended for a late-night meal after a night out. ✨

Self-style monjayaki restaurant. I have tried the mentaiko monja before, but this was my first time trying it with shiso, and it was delicious! It's self-service, but the staff will help you if you have any questions, so it's reassuring. I topped my mentaiko monja with cheese and baby star toppings. It was delicious. I ended up eating three rounds because it was so good haha. They also offer all-you-can-drink options. The tomato sour was delicious.

First, reservations are required. Some customers who didn't make reservations showed up at the restaurant, but they were all turned away. The interior of the restaurant has a Showa era style, creating a lively atmosphere. You can have the staff make your monjayaki, but if you make it yourself, you get a 20% discount. It's fun to make it together with everyone. The drink bar is self-service, so you can customize your drink to your liking. There is a wide variety of monjayaki and toppings to choose from, so you can find your favorite combination. In addition to monjayaki, there are also a la carte menu items so you won't have trouble finding snacks to go with your drinks. Surprisingly delicious was the cold ramen we had for dessert. We ordered one to share, but everyone loved it so much that they wanted to have one all to themselves if they had room in their stomachs. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Is it normal for monjayaki restaurants in Fukuoka to be this crowded? When I tried to visit at night, I was told I would have to wait for over 2 hours, which surprised me with its popularity. I passed the time at another shop and finally managed to get in after 2 hours! The inside was lively with young people, and the food was delicious. I was able to leisurely enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa era.

I was always curious because it's always bustling when I pass by. On this day, it was our second stop, so the six of us shared two monjayakis. They also had an option for all-you-can-drink by the item, which was perfect for our second stop. By the way, the all-you-can-drink was cheaper for women, so for the female drinkers out there, it's a great deal (laughs). There were two types of ways to cook the monjayaki, one was Tsukishima-style and I forgot the other one because it was already done... The taste was the same, but I think they said the thickness of the broth was different. It's a perfect place for friends to have a lively time together.

Around 10 pm, I visited the restaurant, which is open until late at night, and it seemed to always be busy. I ordered two dishes of monjayaki, but was informed that it is a self-cook style and not prepared by the staff. Personally, I prefer not to cook my own food, so I found it bothersome. Even though the menu states that there is an additional charge for having the staff cook it, they did not offer that option. I think it may be due to the skill of the cook, but the taste was mediocre.

I sometimes use the Monja restaurant called "Haruyoshi" late at night because it is open until late. They have a self-service all-you-can-drink option, and sometimes the place is bustling with customers even in the late hours. The illustration of a rabbit and a turtle on the entrance curtain is very cute. I ordered the seafood Monja. You can save a little money by cooking it yourself. They also teach you how to cook it, so I managed to cook it somehow. The crispy Monja that I almost burned on the hot plate... Baby Star seems to be popular, but I think I prefer it without Baby Star. Monja is the best for late-night hunger.

You can have the staff make it for you or you can make it yourself. It seems to be a little cheaper if you make it yourself. In addition to monjayaki, you can also grill vegetables and chicken on the hot plate. The zaru ramen I ordered without high expectations turned out to be surprisingly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I finally went to this place that I've been curious about for a while. The interior of the restaurant has a retro Showa era vibe, and the female staff members wear traditional Japanese cooking attire, which adds to the atmosphere.
You can choose between Egg Chicken Ramen, Monja-style Okonomiyaki, and Tsukishima Okonomiyaki. I decided to go with Tsukishima Okonomiyaki because when it comes to Monja-style dishes, I prefer to shave and eat them myself. However, I was surprised when they told me that I had to cook it myself! But hey, it's written on the menu that if you cook it yourself, you get a 20% discount, so I guess it's a good deal.
I did my best to cook it and ended up enjoying a delicious Monja-style Okonomiyaki thanks to my amateur cooking skills.

It is okay to eat Monja-yaki in Nakasu at a Monja-yaki shop that operates late at night. They are open until 6 am, so there were a decent number of people there late at night. This time, I ordered Mentaiko Monja, Chicken Assortment with Cream Cheese Chanja, Ham and Egg Unzen Ham, and Mushroom Assortment. I chose the Tsukishima-style Monja this time. They say that it becomes 20% tastier when you cook it yourself. The cabbage was a bit too big, making it difficult to crush with the spatula, and the broth needed a bit more thickness for easier eating. Other than that, it was good for snacking. Overall, there were some rough parts, maybe because they were busy, so I hope they improve on that.

Opened in May, this place caught my attention because I love monja. You can order dishes like Egg Chicken Ramen Monja, Sagari, and Crispy Meat Miso Green Pepper Monja, or even make them yourself! I declared that I would do my best, but ended up failing and passing the baton (laughs). They will teach you how to make it. The crispy texture of the Chicken Ramen adds a unique touch to the Monja, which is amazing. This day, I ordered Sagari, which was delicious with garlic and even better when cooked on the iron griddle. Although they currently do not serve alcohol, they have a wide variety of options and even offer all-you-can-drink. The retro atmosphere of the restaurant is cute, and the staff are lovely. Today's dinner was at a Monja restaurant called "Haruyoshi". It is a medium-sized restaurant with a counter, raised seating area, and tables. The interior has a Showa retro theme with a theme park vibe. They offer all-you-can-drink options, but the beer is light. The food options include various types of Monja and individual appetizers. This time, I ordered the Tsukishima-style Monja with mentaiko flavor and the Shitamachi-style Monja with chicken ramen flavor (served sandwiched between shrimp crackers). I also added 5 types of mushrooms, sausages, and chanja to enjoy for two hours. It was my first time trying Monja and I had a great time!

This time, I visited a restaurant located at 2-12-19 Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. The name of the restaurant is "Kame-san" which is quite unique, isn't it? I was intrigued so I decided to go inside. The interior of the restaurant has a retro Showa era vibe, with a counter, tables, and tatami seating available. Each table also has a teppanyaki grill. They offer two types of monjayaki styles: "Tsukishima-yaki" (classic, to be shaved and eaten) and "Shitamachi-yaki" (original, to be sandwiched and eaten). You can get a 20% discount if you cook it yourself! They also offer individual drinks or a self-service all-you-can-drink option for 1560 yen. Today, I planned to have just one drink so I will save the all-you-can-drink for next time. Other customers seemed to be having fun pouring their own drinks. We raised our glasses with a glass of draft beer! I ordered the "Chicken, Egg, and Green Onion Monjayaki" for 1050 yen. Since I was there, I had it cooked right in front of me! Looking around the restaurant, it seemed like all the customers were women. The traditional aprons added to the retro atmosphere. The sound of the spatula on the grill was comforting. The monjayaki was slightly burnt and crispy, and as I shaved it off the grill, it was piping hot and delicious. The sauce was not too thick and had a nice consistency. It was a refreshing experience as I don't usually eat this in Fukuoka. Another great spot in Haruyoshi, I must say. Thank you for the meal.

I always wanted to go but it was always full, so I made a reservation and finally went. I was surprised to find that it was more like okonomiyaki than the authentic Monja-yaki from Tsukishima. People were eating by scooping it onto small plates with large okonomiyaki spatulas, which was quite unexpected. The restaurant was lively with young customers chatting and having fun. The staff were well-trained and reminded us that there was a 2-hour time limit for each table. It seems that popular restaurants like this one operate on a strict time schedule for reservations.

It seems that without a reservation, it's often difficult to get in. Making your own monjayaki is fun and delicious! It's great because you can get full on monjayaki! The bacon potato monjayaki was delicious!
