We had a family gathering for the first time in a while and had a New Year's meal. The restaurant we chose was one that I had seen on Instagram and was curious about. Every year, my father would buy a whole yellowtail at the end of the year, and it was normal for us to eat it in various ways like sashimi, in ozoni soup, and teriyaki. In recent years, we have been avoiding visiting our hometown for the New Year and instead, we celebrate the New Year by dining out. My siblings who came from afar also love yellowtail, so we chose a restaurant where we could enjoy a variety of yellowtail dishes. We made a reservation for 8 people and used the private room on the second floor. My elderly mother was a little concerned about the stairs, but her legs were still okay, so she managed to climb up.
[What we ordered]
- "Forget the New Year" course: Yellowtail shabu-shabu hot pot and 8 other dishes with all-you-can-drink plan for ¥5500
- Food Menu:
1. Japanese-style oil-stewed mushrooms
2. Green salad with homemade dressing
3. Yellowtail sashimi
4. Yellowtail shabu-shabu hot pot (yellowtail, tofu, 3 types of vegetables)
5. Chicken tempura with mustard ponzu sauce (forgot to take a picture)
6. Yellowtail broth mixed rice
- Drink Menu:
Sapporo Lager beer, highball, plum wine, yuzu sake, shochu (sweet potato, barley), sake (Kuroda Bushi), various soft drinks (oolong tea, green tea, ginger ale, soda water) (additional orders)
- Yellowtail and potato fish & chips for ¥800
- 2 pieces of horse mackerel fry for ¥600 each
- Live squid for ¥1800
- Yellowtail sashimi for ¥800 each
Since we were in a private room on the second floor, there were a decent variety of drinks available, so we were able to drink without needing to order more. The yellowtail was sliced thickly for sashimi and was delicious. The image shows 4 servings. We first had the sashimi, then put the rest into the hot pot. However, it cooked quickly, so we were busy serving it up. It's tough when dining with a group of people. We kept pouring drinks and I forgot to take a picture of the tempura, sorry. We had to order more yellowtail sashimi because we ran out. It was so good with just the right amount of fat and thickness. I would love to go back since they also serve breakfast. Thank you for the delicious meal.
