I forgot whether it was on TV or in a magazine, but there was a brand of pork called "Dorobuta" that was introduced. They mentioned that these pigs are stress-free and raised freely in Tokachi, Hokkaido. There are limited places where you can eat this "Dorobuta," and when I was researching, I found out that you can try it at Kitchen Gorilla. I thought I wouldn't have the opportunity to go eat there... But then, due to a sudden trip to Kyoto during the late summer vacation affected by a typhoon, I thought, "What should I eat?" and decided to go to Kitchen Gorilla, a carnivorous Western-style restaurant. The location is about a 5-minute walk from the Eizan Main Line Mototanaka Station in a residential area. If you take the bus, get off at the Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto City Bus No. 206-K, and get off at the Eizan Mototanaka Bus Stop, which is also about a 5-minute walk away. This time, I had the Hamburg (pork) 150g for 1,100 yen (including tax) and the Kansuke's pork shoulder steak (produced in Obihiro, Hokkaido) 250g for 2,300 yen (including tax). Just look at the cross-section of this steak!! It's irresistible. The perfect grilling, the soft and melting sensation in your mouth, I can't find the right words to describe it. The saltiness was also perfect, and although I tried the mustard and soy sauce provided together, it was best to eat it as it is. It's pure bliss. I also had a bite of my wife's hamburger, which was robust and tasted like enjoying meat in a rough and hearty way! When I ordered, I was told that it would be cooked with 100% pork and have a sausage-like firmness, but it turned out just as described, allowing me to savor a substantial "meat." The miso soup served with rice was like pork soup and was a perfect accompaniment, delicious. I would like to revisit when I travel to Kyoto again. Thank you for the meal (^人^).
