I visited during the Golden Week holiday for lunch. I arrived around 1:00 pm and had to wait as there were 3 groups ahead of me. I waited for about 15 minutes. I ordered the grilled eel over rice. It came with miso soup and pickles. You can pour sauce over the eel as you like. The eel was domestic and grilled to perfection, very flavorful. There were about four pieces of eel on top of the rice, so the portion size was not very satisfying. I might try the steamed eel next time. They only accept cash, no credit cards or electronic payments.

"Known for its good cost performance, Takebayashi-tei. The Tsuda main store has strong principles and while it's fine for a personal shop to have its own beliefs, it can be a bit much for a chain store like this. Personally, I don't feel like revisiting. I thought it would be okay to visit the branch store, but even here, the appeal was overwhelming. The eel is still a good deal as always. The sauce is overly sweet, which was the only thing that didn't quite suit my taste. I couldn't do this in the store, but since I ordered takeout this time, I mixed the leftover sauce from 'Kawayoshi' that I had bought just before and ate it together (laughs). I don't think it tastes better this way, but it's a fun way to enjoy it as takeout."

◉Genre: Eel ◉Area: Moritane area, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: Less than 5 minutes walk from the Moritane Station on the municipal monorail ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit card payment: Not available ◉Number of visits: First visit ◉Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I decided to visit "Takebayashitei Unagi Shokunin" spontaneously. ◇Exterior and Interior This eel restaurant is located in Moritane Honmachi, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City. They have several branches in the city, and one in Shingu as well. They are more on the approachable side rather than high-end, almost like a family restaurant. The interior of the restaurant has a music box-style background music playing and is non-smoking. ◇Seating The restaurant consists of table seats and tatami rooms, with a capacity of over 50 people. ◇Menu They offer various eel dishes such as kabayaki, set meals, unajyu, steamed eel, hitsumabushi, bowls, and more. Of course, they also have a la carte options. They even have a children's set menu available. I ordered the following: ・Unajyu (Large) - 1,950 yen → It has been a while since I had unajyu. There is a 400 yen difference between the large and extra-large sizes. Since it was my first time at this restaurant, I chose the large size. According to the origin display, the eel on that day was from Miyazaki. They seem to strictly deal with domestic eel. After ordering, it took less than 10 minutes for the food to be served. The unajyu, miso soup, cold tofu, and pickles were served on one tray. When I opened the lid of the unajyu, a fragrant aroma filled the air. There was also shredded egg on top of the rice along with the eel. Since I ordered the large size, the amount of eel felt a bit small, but it was expected. The eel was crispy on the outside and had a good amount of fat. You could also adjust the eel sauce to your liking, which went really well with the eel. I added some sansho pepper midway through and finished the meal by adding more sauce. Personally, I still prefer the steamed eel... ◆Strong Points Affordable eel dishes. ◆Service Average. ◆Summary There are several well-known eel restaurants in the city, but this restaurant is more approachable and familiar. Personally, I think Tsuda has a better atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I visited "Takebayashiya Unajou" with a friend at 11:20. There were about 3 groups of customers already there. The eel served today is from Miyazaki prefecture. I ordered the "Joujou Teishoku" which I had decided on after visiting Tsuda Honten before. The rice, even in a normal portion, was quite generous. It was delicious, made with what seemed to be high-quality rice. The grilled eel had a crispy skin and was not cheaply made. The quality was great considering the affordable price. The meal also came with pickles, eel liver, and cold tofu. There was no noticeable difference in quality compared to Tsuda Honten. Overall, I had a very satisfying lunch. Thank you very much. The service from the staff was also excellent.

I couldn't get into the Tsuda store because of the line, so I came here instead. I had the hitsumabushi (2,100 yen). The restaurant had a calm atmosphere and I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. It was very delicious.

Every day the lingering summer heat is harsh, so my wife and I visited a restaurant to enjoy eel for the first time in a while. The automatic door opened, and when I told the cashier that there were two of us, she didn't even look up and just said, "Please sit wherever you like." I gathered myself and ordered the special eel bowl for myself and the grilled eel over rice for my wife. After waiting for about 25 minutes, the eel arrived. The cashier, still without a smile, handed us the food. No "Sorry for the wait" or anything... The lid of the box was dirty. The tofu was quite thin. The bonito flakes and green onions were placed next to the bowl. The eel seemed smaller than before, but it was still delicious. As I was paying at the register, the same cashier instructed a young staff member to serve tea, even though I was waiting with money in hand. Without even a "Thank you," I left the restaurant feeling somewhat disappointed. It's quite something these days. Really. The appeal of being able to eat eel at an affordable price is great, but I think I'll pass on this particular location in the future.

In recent years, the shortage of young eels and the serious shortage of domestic eels due to the high prices have been a factor... As soon as I entered the restaurant, I noticed a notice stating that "Chinese eels" were being used. Previously, the origin of the eels, such as Miyazaki or Kagoshima, was clearly stated at the store. However, from now on, depending on the daily procurement situation, the origin may not necessarily be domestic. I was surprised. This time, I ordered an eel rice bowl and a shrimp fry set. As for the eel, it felt like a family restaurant. The prices were reasonable and the customers felt like a family restaurant. The shrimp fry set I ordered was quite good! It had three large shrimp, similar to those at restaurants specializing in fried foods like Hamakatsu. The crispy coating was great, and the frying method and oil were good. The shrimp had a firm texture and did not have the typical disinfectant smell, indicating that they were properly processed with salt and pepper. The shrimp fry set at Takebayashi-tei, priced at 1,200 yen, is recommended for its affordability.

There is a restaurant near Monorail Morisho Station that is best reached by car. It specializes in eel dishes, and I ordered the eel rice bowl. They also offer steamed eel, eel over rice, and hitsumabushi. The eel rice bowl was delicious, with perfectly grilled eel and a flavorful sauce. While there are more upscale eel restaurants around Kokura Station, this place strikes a good balance between casual and famous, making it a great choice for regular folks looking to enjoy some eel.

I visited this restaurant for a business dinner. While Ogura is known for places like Taneya and Kawayodo, this was my first time here. The menu offers options like top quality for 2500 yen, premium for 3300 yen, and regular for around 1000 yen. This time, I ordered the premium eel, grilled eel, and eel liver. The difference between top quality and premium is not in the quality of the eel, but in the quantity. The premium portion was indeed quite generous. The grilled eel had a crispy skin and was delicious. The eel itself was not too fatty, but slightly on the thinner side. For this price, it's a good deal, but in terms of quality alone, Taneya is a few steps ahead. If you're looking for a reasonably priced eel meal, this is a recommended spot!

If you head south along the monorail, you will pass Monorail Motosune Station and then turn right at the intersection south of Motosune stop. The restaurant will be on your left shortly after. In this area, my favorite eel restaurant is Takebayashi-tei. I always order the popular Seiro set for 1650 yen. While waiting for the food to be ready, they serve fried eel bones as a snack with roasted green tea. It's crispy and delicious. The eel is grilled to a crispy and fragrant surface, while the inside is fluffy and tasty. The sauce soaks evenly into the rice, making it perfect. The eel liver dish is also great, with a smooth texture and rich flavor. The side dish of chilled tofu with soy sauce was a bit too spicy for me when combined with the already seasoned bonito flakes. The pickles, consisting of cucumber and radish, were refreshing. Another delicious meal today. Thank you. In May 2016, the Seiro set was 1750 yen, but the taste remained excellent. In July 2016, the pickles were daikon, cucumber, and carrot. The eel bone snack was no longer provided. I ordered the Seiro set again, and although the rice seemed slightly sweeter, the eel was still incredibly delicious!

Today was the nationwide day of eating eel, did you all have some? I went to Takebayashi with my sons to have some eel. I had the special eel rice bowl for 2100 yen. My sons had the extra-large size. It was Saturday today and also the day of the Ox, so it was really crowded. We waited for about 30 minutes. The eel was tender and delicious, with plenty of sansho pepper. The liver was also delicious. I mentioned this last year, but for 2100 yen, I think it's a good deal. Today's eel was from Miyazaki.

The restaurant is located in Koyasu Minami-ku, near Monorail Motonari Station. The reviewer has been visiting this restaurant for over 10 years. The restaurant used to serve kushikatsu on the second floor, but not anymore. Unlike the main branch in Tsuda, this branch offers a variety of fried dishes such as pork cutlet, hirekatsu, and tempura set. The eel used in the restaurant is mainly sourced from Miyazaki and Kagoshima. The sauce here is sweeter compared to other places. The eel is cooked perfectly and remains delicious till the end. The reviewer does not recommend the set with mini steamer and zaru udon as the udon is not great. The staff is friendly and the service is satisfying. The restaurant has become non-smoking and made changes to the menu since the last visit in August 2009. The hirekatsu, pork cutlet, and shrimp hirekatsu set have been discontinued, while the shrimp fry set may have been reduced in price and the variety of tempura set has increased. The reviewer ordered the steamed eel and shrimp fry set, sharing it with a companion. The cost performance is still good, but the reviewer wishes for a bit more tartar sauce with the shrimp fry.

I used to always buy bento boxes to go from Tsuda Main Store, so it's been a while since I visited. Wow, it's expensive ^_^; But that's because it's eel. My mother ordered the steamed eel set (which comes with rice, clear soup, and cold tofu), and I ordered the eel rice bowl set since they also have udon (cold or hot) here. I prefer grilled eel over steamed eel, so the eel rice bowl was delicious! The rice was tasty too. The udon had a nice texture and was delicious. My mother always gives me the steamed eel from her set, but I still think grilled eel is tastier. It's crispy and flavorful, right? In summer, eel is the best choice!!!
