Opened in June 2021 in Osaka and Fukushima, the standing bar "Musshu Popo" is a new store from the company orb, which operates multiple stores including the popular "Katsu Ebi Bar orb". This is their first standing bar concept, so I was excited to check it out. The store is located about a 5-minute walk from Fukushima Station, on a street lined with various dining options. The interior is simple, surprisingly spacious, with seating on the first floor and even a sunken kotatsu area on the second floor. The drink menu offers a variety of interesting drinks aimed at a younger crowd, promising a lively atmosphere.
The specialty of the house is steamed dishes, ranging from classic steamed oysters to unique options like "Foie Gras and Beef Tendon Stew" and "Drinkable Cheese Chawanmushi". The menu includes a variety of dishes like steamed fish, sashimi platter, truffle simmered egg, spicy tuna tartare, and grilled scallops with sea urchin soy sauce. The portions are on the smaller side, allowing you to try a variety of dishes.
Overall, "Musshu Popo" is a fantastic addition to the dining scene in Fukushima. The staff is friendly, and I look forward to visiting again for some more drinks and food.

I went on a food tour in Fukushima. The shops here are lively, have good value for money, and the food is delicious! I love shellfish and mascarpone. I don't see them often in izakayas, so I got excited when I saw them on the menu. I heard from someone that "Fukushima is a great place," and it really is!

The staff were very friendly, and it had been a while since I last visited, but they were still just as welcoming. The food was delicious as always, and the drinks were great too. The atmosphere was lively, but the second floor was relatively calm. I will definitely visit again!

Today, I went out with my colleague Macaroni for some drinks in Fukushima. We started with yakitori and then decided to go for some standing bar hopping. We ended up at Popo near the station, which I had wanted to visit. We sat outside but the night breeze was getting cold. Macaroni was enjoying the outdoor seating. We ordered a sashimi platter and potato salad. The sashimi was served with sake and tasted good. The potato salad was generous in portion but the taste was average. I enjoyed the Fukushima style of dining outside. As we were leaving, I realized that I had mistaken Popo for Popo-tei, which I had actually wanted to visit. Macaroni didn't even notice the difference. Oh well, let's keep it to ourselves. Overall, we had a fun time drinking and thank you for the meal.

Last night, I visited the restaurant! They had a kotatsu and a heater at my feet, so it was really warm! I ordered a Mega size of Ichiban Shibori beer, which is apparently equivalent to 2.5 regular glasses! It was a lot of beer!! I could only drink 3 times the 2.5 glass amount, and I got really drunk!笑

I went to Osaka for work and asked my acquaintance for a popular restaurant recommendation, then I went to this restaurant. When I arrived, I asked the staff for their recommended menu and they suggested the "drinkable cheese chawanmushi," so I decided to try it. Well, it wasn't as soft as I expected for something drinkable. It had a cheese flavor, which might be appealing to women. The restaurant was full of customers. Thank you for the meal.

The food was delicious, especially the sashimi. There were a lot of seasonal dishes, which was nice. However, the staff's infection prevention measures were terrible (lol). They were talking to us without masks on! And there were no acrylic dividers between tables. Before entering the restaurant, we were approached by some men and they tried to come in with us. The staff stopped them, but it felt a bit rude as we were okay with them joining us. I appreciate what they did for us, but it was a bit much. I won't be going back next time.

There is a stylish restaurant located on Fukumaru Street in Fukushima, where various trendy eateries line up. The restaurant has a counter and table seats on the first floor, as well as a digging kotatsu and a total of 100 seats including the second floor. It's a casual place where you can even drink alone. The restaurant is known for its steamed dishes, and it's pronounced "Musshu" even though it's written as "蒸っ酒" in Japanese. Despite being known for steamed dishes, I didn't order any, but I was happy to be able to casually enter and have a quick drink! There were also many photogenic menu items available, such as the Seasonal Fish Assorted Plate for 715 yen, which came in a masu with bonus sea urchin, and the Black Wagyu Tendon Stew for 715 yen, which was served piping hot by the staff.

JR "Fukushima" Station, 3 minutes walk, open from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM, closed on no specific days. Today's photo: Assorted five dishes for 600 yen, Pork Ceylon stew with skin for 500 yen, Foie gras and beef tendon stew for 600 yen, Tantan-style bite-sized tuna yukke for 500 yen, Drinkable cheese chawanmushi for 350 yen. Let's go explore Fukushima! Where to go, where to go, we found Poppo-san. Poppo-san has kotatsu and chanchanko outside. We went to see the chinchirorin, Poppo-san. Launched at the end of June this year, this izakaya has table seats on the 2nd floor, standing room on the 1st floor, and kotatsu outside. The table seats are fun, and outside is cold! If you get cold, definitely try the chanchanko! The dishes are mostly around 500 yen, cheap and good! The most delicious one was probably the Foie gras and beef tendon stew for 600 yen! It was really good for the price. Sorry for those who don't like Foie gras. Also, the Pork Ceylon stew that appears in the 2nd and 3rd photos was delicious too! I was a bit surprised because there were 4 pieces of stew for 2 pieces of bread, but it had a slightly Taiwanese flavor, so be careful of that! Also, the chinchirorin was fun! Free for double numbers, double portion for odd numbers, and half price for even numbers. Having these rules makes it more fun and makes you want to roll the dice! Laugh.

I had been thinking about going to this restaurant because I could see people having a great time from outside. So, I finally went. I was surprised to find out that there were seats available outside. Inside, it was standing room only. I had a nice, relaxing time drinking with my friend inside, but I had to go outside to smoke. I chatted with my smoking buddies and other customers outside. It was a lively and fun atmosphere with everyone chatting and having a good time. I would definitely consider going back when I want to have a fun and lively experience.

Located at the bustling edge of a popular high-rise area in Fukushima, this restaurant is always packed and lively. Despite operating under shortened hours, they always served alcohol, which kept the place full of energy. The interior and exterior were overflowing with customers, and since it was a standing-only style, there were even more people, giving off a slightly dangerous vibe. However, I thought to myself, "This is the true style of a traditional bar," and decided to give it a try. The staff were energetic and always shouted out orders loudly, even calling out to passersby, which was fantastic and made the experience enjoyable. The menu seemed quite affordable at first glance, so I ordered a variety of dishes. However, the portions that arrived were about half of what I had imagined. It's great for ordering a few dishes to go with your drinks, but if you plan on having a full meal here, it might end up being quite expensive. The specialty sashimi platter for two at 1000 yen was nicely presented and cute, but the cuts of sashimi were about half the size of what you would get at a regular restaurant. Despite this, the lively atmosphere and variety of options make it a great choice for a third stop or later in the night.

It was Sunday evening on Fukumaru Street. I was casually looking for a place to have a drink when a staff member called out to me, so I decided to enter the shop (although I didn't actually go inside, just sat on the terrace). I ordered a lemon sour for my drink, and the appetizers were fugu kelp salad, potato salad, truffle-topped boiled egg, and wasabi-flavored whelk. The drink was ice-cold, with water droplets dripping down the glass each time I took a sip. The lemon sour was a bit weak in alcohol content. The appetizers were nothing special, but not bad either. They were reasonably priced at around 300 yen each, so you could try several different types. It's a good place for a quick drink. Despite being under a state of emergency, the place was bustling with people, which may be why. Overall, it was a decent experience.

Gourmet battle in Osaka's Fukushima Ward, a unique new restaurant has emerged once again. Located at the entrance of "Fukumaru Street 57", this restaurant is a new store by "Orb Co., Ltd.", the company behind the popular restaurant "Katsu Ebi Bar orb" in Tenma and Ura Namba. As the name suggests, this stand-style restaurant focuses on steamed dishes for the first time. Order below:
- Sashimi Assortment of the Day (600 yen) A luxurious assortment of 5 types including Kamatoro, Que, Squid, Amberjack, and Conger eel, with a complimentary sea urchin.
- Steamed Kamaboko (450 yen) Rediscover how delicious Kamaboko can be!
- Mentaiko Miso-grilled (300 yen) The restaurant was full right after opening. It's trending!

Even under the state of emergency, there are more and more shops offering alcohol, despite the extension of the state of emergency in August 2021. It's impressive to see some shops openly providing alcohol even in the midst of the Lambda variant's rampage. I couldn't help but be amazed. I saw customers drinking from a pitcher at tables set up outside a shop under the elevated tracks on the west side of JR Fukushima Station. When I asked the staff, they confirmed that they serve beer! I decided to visit and found that the prices were reasonable, but the portions were small. Nevertheless, there was a variety of dishes to enjoy. When I ordered the sweetfish tempura, a cute dish with a sweetfish swimming on the surface arrived. This shop is quite impressive and shouldn't be underestimated. By the way, it's a standing bar.

Under the elevated structure at JR Fukushima Station. It's bustling every day. The atmosphere is stylish, and the presentation of the dishes is good. The prices are a bit mediocre for standing drinking. In my opinion, it falls into the category of a modern izakaya. The staff may not have much knowledge about the food and drinks, but it's designed to keep things moving. It seems like more and more of these types of restaurants are popping up nowadays. (^_^;)

I part ways with S-Paisen and head home. Under the elevated tracks of the loop line, there is a bustling shop. The area between Hankyu Oasis, Hankyu Hotel, and the elevated tracks has become more lively since the Fukushima era. No need for a warm-up beer, I go straight for cold sake. If asked to choose, I'd go for Minami Tanaka for 500 yen. The visuals are not bad, but the lengthy descriptions about men are a bit bothersome. The essential cold sake is "Roma" (Hanazen Sake Brewery Co., Ltd./Minamiaizu District, Fukushima Prefecture). The appetizer is "karasumi." Is it really karasumi? Minami Tanaka quickly disappears, and I switch to a highball with one young ayu tempura for 250 yen. During this temporary return to my home country, I wanted to eat ayu, junsa, and hamo, so the first one is cleared. Assorted sashimi of 5 kinds for 600 yen. The visuals are excellent, but the portion is a bit small. Oh, a bit small clam for 600 yen. The freshly steamed clam in front of me is piping hot. The planning and presentation are tastefully done, but going all out from the first place seems to lead to a pretty high price.

In July, on a Friday at 7:40 PM, the restaurant was packed with customers. It's one of the few places in the Fukushima area where you can drink after 8 PM, so there was a crowd outside. The turnover was quick, so we got a table soon. It's a standing style bar with customers of all ages. The staff looked to be in their 20s, but the restaurant had a strong focus on seafood. The interior had a strange layout with a counter and cooking area. I tried the conger eel namero for 500 yen and a highball for 400 yen. The highball was served in a Maker's Mark tumbler and had a nice foamy carbonation. The portion was surprisingly large. The conger eel namero was different from what I expected, with less salt and seasoning, but still enjoyable. Overall, it's a convenient place for a quick drink alone.

Hello, this is Okahiro! I came across a lively izakaya in Fukushima, Osaka, and decided to stop by. The appetizers included "sea urchin karasumi," "steamed conger eel ¥800," "steamed oysters ¥700," "clams ¥600," "mentaiko grilled in Kyoto-style sauce ¥300," "squid with yuzu pepper and salmon roe ¥500," "foie gras and beef tendon stew ¥600," "drinkable cheese chawanmushi ¥350," "truffle boiled egg ¥300," "mozzarella cheese spring rolls ¥200," "deep-fried angel shrimp ¥300," and "eel rice ball ¥500." The small dishes were so tempting that I ended up ordering too many! Enjoying delicious snacks and nostalgic songs under the elevated tracks. It was a standing bar, but the atmosphere was comfortable. The staff were also lively, making it a fun experience. The food, pricing, everything was well done, and the shop had a very good sense of management, handling the profitability of a food and beverage establishment perfectly! I highly recommend this place for everyone in the food and beverage industry to take note of.______________________
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent value for money!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great value for a revisit!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good value for the price
⭐️⭐️ Decent value, keep it up
⭐️ Worth a try
I feel that the overall rating on food review sites tends to overlook the aspect of price, which I find unfair. It is natural for higher-priced restaurants to receive higher relative ratings, but I believe that lower-priced restaurants with high satisfaction should be more recognized. My evaluation is based on 'cost performance'! It considers the satisfaction level in relation to the amount paid and whether I would visit again as the criteria for evaluation.

Fukushima Station west side. I went to the new restaurant "Poppo" on Fukumaru Street under the elevated tracks. The steamer at the front of the store looked delicious, so I had to wait for a table but managed to squeeze into a spot on the second floor. I tried the recommended dishes: Foie gras and beef tendon stew for 600 yen, cooked on a small stove which enhanced the flavor. Steamed freshly made fish cake for 450 yen, which was soft and chewy. Steamed conger eel for 800 yen, a bit small portion for the price. Overall, the food was stylish and delicious. I really enjoyed it. Next time, I'll try the steamed seafood dishes. Thank you for the meal.
