On May 1st, the state of emergency was extended from May 6th to May 31st. As a result, our country's state of temporary suspension has also been extended. For dinner that day, we had groceries bought by a family member. It's sufficient for one household member to go shopping. They seemed to have bought a large amount of items. The first item was Inari sushi with beans for 99 yen each, bought from a tenant at Hankyu department stores. I have purchased this at Umeda main store a few times before. It's been a while since I had some delicious Inari sushi. It's still slender and moist with a sweet flavor. The aroma of gold sesame, the sweetness and texture of shiitake mushrooms and dried gourd. This is truly a classic Inari sushi. I had three pieces and they disappeared in no time. That day, we had KFC fried chicken for dinner as well. Having takeout for dinner once in a while is nice. During the continued period of refraining from dining out, there are limits to home-cooked meals as well. Oh, I can't wait to return to normal life soon...Bon appétit.

I wonder how many times I've bought the "Mame Tanuki Inari" already, but for some reason, I had never come across the "Konnyaku Inari" until today (maybe because it's a limited edition?). The "Konnyaku Inari" was waiting for me at the store today, as if calling out to me. Is this a sign from the Inari god? When should I buy it? Now! The Konnyaku Inari costs 120 yen and has a unique chewy texture compared to regular Inari sushi. The yuzu flavor when you bite into it and the aroma of sesame afterwards are truly exceptional. This exceeded my expectations in terms of deliciousness! The "Gomoku Inari" costs 140 yen and includes lotus root, hijiki seaweed, burdock root, bamboo shoots, and carrots. The textures of lotus root and bamboo shoots are great, and the overall taste is lightly seasoned, which I like. It might be good for kids who don't like vegetables. The regular Inari costs 90 yen (all prices before tax). This is the classic Inari sushi with a strong seasoning compared to others. I was honestly surprised by the well-balanced taste as I had no expectations at all. I apologize to the Konnyaku Inari for underestimating it. Everyone, lower your expectations and give it a try!

Inari sushi specialty store located in the basement of Hankyu Department Store in the center of Senri, offering takeout only. This time, I purchased a ginger inari for 130 yen. It was delicious, but not significantly different from regular inari sushi.

At Hankyu's department store basement, I always end up buying some inari sushi. It's easy to buy and easy to eat, with a slightly larger size. I usually only buy regular inari sushi, but this time I bought the Sakura inari sushi and couldn't resist sharing. The regular inari sushi is decently seasoned, so one piece satisfies me. My family devours it. As for the Sakura inari sushi, it has a unique taste reminiscent of eating Sakura mochi - not sweet, but with that distinct Sakura mochi flavor! It's a rare menu item that evokes the feeling of spring.

Authentic Edomae sushi is delicious! (But it's expensive so I can't go often) I also like local sushi! (There are no good restaurants nearby) Conveyor belt sushi is also good! (I'm afraid of the origin of the fish) But everyone loves sweet and sour tofu skin sushi. (It's cheap and available everywhere) I didn't know that "Mamedanuki's Inari Sushi" originated in Osaka. (It seems to have originally been in the deli department of Hankyu Department Store) As a fan of Inari sushi, I am naturally drawn to Mamedanuki's store when I pass by Hankyu. Also, Mamedanuki's Inari sushi has a wide variety of flavors to enjoy. - Mamedanuki Inari ¥80 - Wasabi Inari ¥80 - Golden Ginger Inari ¥100 - Gomoku Inari ¥140 - Black Mamedanuki ¥120 - Jumbo Inari ¥140 In addition, there are monthly specials like - Tomato Inari ¥160 (July), and limited-time offers like - Konjac Inari ¥120 Seasonal Inari such as - Grilled Chicken Inari ¥180 - Plum and Whitebait Inari ¥150 are also available. (All prices are excluding tax) "Thank you for the meal" My recommendation is the "Golden Ginger Inari", which is sweet and savory with a refreshing ginger flavor to balance it out!

In Osaka, there is a specialized Inari sushi shop called Inari Zushi in Senri Hankyu at Senri Chuo. I have traveled all over the country, but I think the Inari sushi faith of the Kansai people is higher than that of other prefectures. They stuff seasoned vinegar rice into fried triangular pouches. While the shape here is barrel-shaped, it is a Kansai-style Inari sushi. In addition to regular Inari sushi, they also have wasabi Inari and konjac Inari, among other unique varieties. It may not be "on a different level" in terms of taste, but it is tastier than Inari sushi from other ordinary shops. Having a shop like this nearby is sure to increase one's happiness.

Yesterday was the Day of the Ox, and Mamedanuki-san was offering a limited edition eel inari for the occasion. I was curious as it is located along my daily commute route, so I bought one at Senri Hankyu. The eel inari was priced around 360 yen per piece, quite luxurious compared to the usual 130 yen for a regular inari. I decided to try it out and bought one. The appearance resembled an inari sushi turned upside down with a small piece of eel on top. It tasted more like a savory simmered dish rather than grilled eel, with a firm texture similar to eel sushi. While it wasn't exceptional, it had the consistent taste of Mamedanuki-san. It was a convenient treat for the Day of the Ox.

I went to the department store basement in Ginza to buy dinner. I looked at the Kyoto-style side dishes and checked out the limited-time corner, where there was a line for beef dishes next to a delicious-looking inari sushi. I peeked inside and found wasabi-flavored inari sushi, which looked appealing. Although I was tempted by the crab and Kobe beef set exclusive to Mitsukoshi, I decided to go with the inari sushi from the store called "Mamedanuki" with wasabi. It cost 90 yen including tax. It's small, but it's good. I like wasabi. I found out that the original store is related to Hankyu, but they also have a permanent store in Tokyo.
