I used a taxi for sightseeing in Otaru. During that time, I asked the driver for recommendations. Of course, sushi should be enjoyed at the counter (^-^) First, my husband ordered the "Shun nigiri" which included ikura, maguro, uni, and botan ebi, each with 2 pieces. It was much more luxurious than the menu photos! My husband couldn't help but say to the chef, "I've often been disappointed when dishes don't match the menu, but this is the first time I've been so impressed." I chose the seafood bowl with uni, crab, and scallops, and was amazed by the melt-in-your-mouth sweetness of the uni. So, I added some nigiri starting with the botan ebi (large), live oysters from Akkeshi, and the ultimate dish, "Salmon child nigiri." I had never eaten it before. It's not salmon! It's toro. It's a different kind of toro from maguro. I can't express it well, but just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The conversation with the calm chef was also pleasant, and we had an amazing meal. The bill came to just under 20,000 yen for the two of us, but it was worth every penny.

I suddenly decided to go to Hokkaido. After enjoying the Sapporo Autumn Fest for the first time in 4 years, I moved on to Otaru. I visited this restaurant after 4 years. I also came here during the Autumn Fest last time. It's nice to see that the restaurant is still open after 4 years. I was debating whether to order the same thing I had 4 years ago, but ended up ordering the uni and ikura rice bowl for 4,500 yen. When it arrived, I was surprised by how small it was. Was it like this last time? Haha. Is 4,500 yen expensive for this? Maybe because it has uni and ikura, it's normal. It's not cheap just because it's in Hokkaido, haha. Is this considered cheap here? We paid a total of 8,250 yen with a card for two people.

I arrived at the restaurant a little after 7 pm and immediately took a seat at the counter. I ordered a bamboo sushi roll for 2,310 yen, and guess what! They had a special salmon sushi called "Sakeko"! Since there was no price listed, I asked and found out it was 1,650 yen per piece. It was a bit pricey, but it's a rare and special salmon so I decided to try it. The Sakeko was from the 2022 harvest and although it wasn't freshly caught, it was incredibly tender with a delicate and light flavor, rather than being oily. The bamboo sushi roll was also delicious! The rice was perfectly balanced and the sushi melted in my mouth. It was a great meal. Thank you!

The location is Otaru, so I thought the prices were typical for a tourist spot. The squid somen with sea urchin for 2,200 yen was delicious! The grilled mackerel might have been overcooked because it lacked the expected fluffy texture. The sushi toppings didn't seem very fresh, maybe because it's summer. I think they might also be using ingredients from Tsukiji Market.

I had a special nigiri and chef's choice chirashi for lunch. The restaurant didn't seem very big from the outside, but it was actually quite spacious inside. The staff were efficient and worked quickly to take orders and serve tea. Despite the large number of customers, the turnover seemed good. Sushi in Otaru is always delicious. The Botan Ebi in the chef's choice chirashi was huge! And the kazunoko was a whole piece! It was very tasty. The variety of the menu is appealing. I would like to come back at night to leisurely enjoy seafood and drinks.

I visited Otaru and couldn't resist trying out some sushi. After searching around, I stumbled upon this place. The restaurant had a mix of counter and table seating, making it suitable for large groups as well. I ordered the special nigiri sushi, octopus sushi, and herring sushi. Each piece was substantial and satisfying. Among them, the octopus and herring were particularly delicious. I felt like I was truly savoring the flavors unique to Hokkaido.

When I came to Otaru, I decided to try sushi, so I visited this restaurant along Sushi Street. Although it's a counter-style restaurant, they serve dishes on large plates during lunchtime. Everything was delicious, especially the fatty tuna. Even though it's not the season for shad roe, the flavor and crunchy texture were excellent. The scallops were also memorable for their crispiness. Normally priced around 6000 yen, with a 2000 yen discount for Hokkaido LOVE, it was a great deal!笑

The omakase set for 3800 yen was fresh and delicious, so if you just want to enjoy sushi, this set is good. The fish was sweet, and even those who don't like sea urchin can eat it. The fish was more delicious than the shellfish. If you want to eat a lot, you might find it lacking, so I think people who want to enjoy seafood will definitely order additional items. It was good that it was not crowded on a holiday afternoon. It seemed like it would be busy at night.

I had sushi for the first time in Hokkaido, in Otaru. It was lunchtime, but we were the only customers, probably because it was a weekday. It was a bit nerve-wracking (lol). We asked for the recommended assorted sushi, but I couldn't decide where to start. Of course, there must be a best order to eat them in, but I wanted to save my favorites for last. Even though I usually save the tuna belly for last, here it was the second dish. Everything was delicious. Then, we added a salmon roe sushi at the end. Oh, this was amazing! (I forgot to take a photo)

Located on Sushi Street, this sushi izakaya has a casual atmosphere where you can enjoy sushi without any pretentiousness. There are tables by the window, but the counter in the back has a more atmospheric feel. They also serve lunch, starting from 11:00, which is earlier than most places around here. I tried their lunch sushi and it was all delicious. They have a good selection of fish roe like tobiko and ikura. I heard they even serve the elusive sakeko, so I'd like to try that next time.

The restaurant was unexpectedly empty, but the food was delicious. They had unique items like octopus and fierce shrimp, which were fresh, firm, sweet, and tasty. I tried octopus for the first time and it had a firm, sweet texture. The rock oysters had a strong seaweed scent and a creamy milk flavor, very delicious. The sushi was also tasty, especially the rare salmon. I also tried the monkfish hot pot, which had a flavorful broth and was delicious despite the small portion. There wasn't much in terms of service, but the staff were kind and the chef seemed a bit lonely in the kitchen.

I had a reason to go to Otaru, and I decided to have sushi for lunch, so I looked it up and went. I chose the most expensive menu to make the most of it. "Chef's choice nigiri sushi: 5,200 yen (flounder, fatty tuna, big button scallop, shad roe, herring, abalone, king crab, shrimp (large), squid, sea urchin, salmon roe)" I have been to over 30 sushi restaurants so far, but among them... It seems like a tourist spot price, the taste is very subtle, and the price is incredibly high. Honestly, even if it was half the price, I wouldn't go again...

Salmon and Botan shrimp were finally able to eat what they wanted♪ It was the first time for the salmon. It cost 1,500 yen. But wait! The Botan shrimp was unforgettable since I last had it in 2008 at the Kushiro or Rausu market, where it was small and cost around 500 yen. This time, it was 4,000 yen?! But, I really wanted to eat it, so I enjoyed it with Otaru sake at the Shizuoka stage~

Today, I visited Farm Tomita in Furano and then traveled to Otaru. Since it was Saturday night, I had made a reservation at a sushi restaurant in advance. Before visiting the restaurant, I walked along the Otaru Canal and bought some glassware and souvenirs. Tomorrow, I will send them all back to Tomakomai via courier. While waiting for my order, we chatted. I ordered the special nigiri sushi, scallop soup, salmon roe nigiri, and pickled scallops. My wife also ordered a local sake from Otaru. The first dish was simmered squid, which was lightly seasoned and delicious. With the sake in hand, we moved on to the pickled scallops, which were very sweet and paired well with the sake. Next, the salmon roe nigiri arrived. It was my first time trying salmon roe nigiri, and it was different from regular salmon - not as fatty but with a sweet and deep flavor. The main dish was the special nigiri and scallop soup. The salmon nigiri had a slightly fatty taste, making it distinct from the others. The sea urchin had a strong ocean flavor, the yellowtail had a nice scent of sudachi, and the salmon roe was perfectly seasoned. The surf clam and abalone were just the right texture, pleasing a seafood lover like me. The sweet shrimp had a strong sweetness, and the scallops stood out for their sweetness. Finally, I tried the crab and fatty tuna - both were fresh and delicious. The baby scallop miso soup was particularly good, with plenty of sweet scallops, making it a satisfying bowl. I left the restaurant feeling full and completely satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

On a rainy autumn day after visiting Ryutokuji Temple, I decided to treat myself to a solo meal at a sushi restaurant. The interior was deep and spacious, and I was seated at the counter with a view of the sushi being prepared. I started with a draft beer for 550 yen and enjoyed a delicious appetizer of ginger-simmered squid legs for 330 yen. I thought I ordered the "Bamboo Sushi" for 2,310 yen, but was surprised when the "Rice Field Sushi" for 3,520 yen arrived. Nevertheless, the 11 pieces of sushi were fresh and delicious, including white fish, tuna, scallop, shrimp, salmon, flying fish roe, sea urchin, salmon roe, abalone, and crab. I also had a comforting dish of tororo kelp soup. The service was quick, and I finished my meal in 45 minutes. The total bill came to 4,400 yen. The three sushi chefs behind the counter worked efficiently, and I was lucky to receive my sushi promptly. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and content.

The restaurant is located on Sushiya Street in Otaru. The shop is spacious with a parking lot. I was seated at the counter and ordered a set of sushi. The sushi was fresh and beautiful. I also tried the raw squid sashimi, which had a little bit of sea urchin on top. I put the sea urchin in the sauce and ate it. It was delicious. I tried to replicate this at home.

Traveling in Hokkaido. It's nighttime in Otaru. Feeling good after a light drink. Finished the night with a bowl of food, but when traveling, the limits are off. This day we are staying in Sapporo, but it's still around 6:30 in the evening. Let's go to one more place. We had been avoiding the sushi street because it was crowded, but as time passed, it seemed a bit calmer. While wandering around, we passed by this restaurant where a lady was standing in front, inviting people in. Even though we initially walked past, we decided to give it a try and entered the restaurant. The interior is quite spacious. It has a stylish and fashionable atmosphere. There are many table seats, but also counter seats. As a solo diner, I was seated at the counter. First, I ordered sake for another round of drinks. I ordered the Hokkaido no Homare Junmai Namazake. And since I had been drinking and eating, I went straight for sushi. I ordered the Matsunigiri. The appetizer was mozuku vinegar. While sipping on sake, the sushi arrived. I dug in right away. The Matsunigiri is a set of 9 pieces including tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp, scallop, sea urchin, salmon roe, and more. The tuna had a rich, matured flavor with a tender texture. The scallop was sweet and had a chewy texture. The sweet shrimp had a sweet flavor and a firm texture. The sea urchin melted in the mouth, truly representing Otaru. Inside the counter, there were about 3 sushi chefs making sushi. The staff serving customers were female. From young ladies to more experienced ones, they provided polite service. Since it was the second place we visited, we didn't eat and drink too much. Looking at the menu, there were also a variety of dishes available. Next time I come, I want to try different things starting from the first place.

I went to Otaru for business. It was during the state of emergency in May, I think? Or was it when the manta rays were around? It's become so much a part of daily life that I can't remember. But on this day, most of the sushi restaurants in Otaru were closed, except for a couple like this one. My favorite place was closed, so I came here instead. I had been here before. Last time, I sat at a table near the entrance, but this time I sat in the back. The back had tatami seating, creating an atmosphere where banquets were once held with all seats filled. I ordered: - Sakura Nigiri (2300 yen) with fresh crab, medium fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, sea urchin, and salmon roe - Salmon roe (1500 yen per piece) - Seasonal recommended nigiri (2700 yen) Looking at previous reviews, it seems like I ordered the same items as others did. I guess we all want the same things. Even though it had been a few years, I was surprised! The focus of the day was on the sea urchin and salmon roe. The salmon roe was a bit less fatty than I expected, from Shiretoko. The sea urchin was light and refreshing, suitable for May. I couldn't have alcohol, so I opted for non-alcoholic beer, but I realized I didn't really need it. Even a simple cup of tea would have sufficed. I enjoy savoring each favorite and delicious item one by one. People say it's luxurious, but I've come to enjoy eating this way. Thank you for the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I came to Otaru and decided to try a seafood bowl at a sushi restaurant for the first time at this place. The atmosphere is not luxurious at all, more like a casual feel. The service was average. I had the squid, medium fatty tuna, and salmon roe bowl since I had a sea urchin, crab, and salmon roe bowl the day before at Nijo Market. Everyone else had bowls with sea urchin, which were all pretty delicious. Overall, when you come to Otaru, make sure to try a sushi restaurant as most of them have good quality ingredients. This place was also tasty. Thank you for the meal!

When I visited Otaru on a day trip from Sapporo, I decided to have lunch at this restaurant called "Sushiden" for the first time! Although it wasn't a place I specifically sought out, I wanted to have delicious sushi since I was in Otaru, so I was drawn in by the sample display outside the restaurant. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the Otaru Canal and about 15-20 minutes on foot from JR Otaru Station, making it easy to find! I visited around 11:30 am this time, and I was able to enter smoothly without having to wait. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious, with counter seats available, so it's suitable for solo diners as well! As for the menu, they mainly offer sushi and rice bowls, and this time I decided to splurge a bit and ordered the "Chef's Choice Sushi Set". As for the taste, all the sushi pieces were fresh, so there were no disappointments, but the Botan shrimp was exceptional, truly worth coming to Hokkaido for! Also, just like the Hokki clams I had the day before, the ones at this restaurant were fresh and delicious! Lastly, I had never tried fresh herring before, so I decided to order it as an additional piece and thoroughly enjoyed it. If I have the chance to visit Otaru again, I will definitely come back to this restaurant!
