Today, I had the clam chowder ramen because it was a hot day. This ramen has a refreshing aftertaste that is perfect for hot summers. As the name suggests, I think this place goes beyond just ramen and is more like a bistro. Originally a French restaurant, they skillfully incorporate French techniques into their ramen. Definitely worth a try.

I happened to pass by this bistro while feeling a bit hungry after the Gion Festival. They serve ramen with a French chef's touch. I had the White Shoyu Ramen (900 yen) along with a glass of white wine (500 yen). The atmosphere of the restaurant, the chef, and the staff were all very pleasant. Of course, the ramen was delicious, and I finished every drop of the soup.

I have been curious about this restaurant for a long time! It is located on the way from Shijo-Nishidoin towards Karasuma Station, and there is always a scent that doesn't seem like ramen, maybe consomme? It really stimulates my appetite! This time, I visited during lunchtime! I ordered the seasonal limited Bishisois soup, and it had a strong flavor and was very delicious. The lunch set dessert was cheese ice cream, but personally, I was disappointed because I can't eat cheese. I should have asked in advance what kind of dessert it was.

A shop tucked away in a back alley off Karasuma. It's a place with a concept a bit different from bistros and ramen shops. I was looking for a ramen shop, so I almost passed by it once; the storefront has a bistro vibe. Even inside the shop, it truly feels like a bistro-style Western eatery. I had the White Shoyu Ramen (900 yen) with firm noodles and the clam pilaf (250 yen). The noodles were Hiranai straight noodles, with a texture similar to pasta or linguine. It's definitely leaning towards the bistro style. Maybe my preference for firm noodles influenced this, but I personally liked it. I'm not a fan of watercress in ramen, but the other toppings were very traditional and elegantly put together. I thought they handled the chashu pork very skillfully. The clam pilaf was more like a pilaf-style dish. It reminded me of a nostalgic taste from a past cafe. Looking closely at the menu, it seems like the appetizers and desserts truly showcase the bistro's expertise. Especially the desserts look quite delicious... It's about breaking your preconceptions with the lineup of dishes that you don't usually order with ramen. The bill is settled at the table, and the owner sees you off at the end. The service was polite, and I had a satisfying time. Thank you for the meal.

The soup was delicious, but the noodles were disappointing, kind of cheap, and not very impressive. However, the atmosphere inside the restaurant and the customer service from the staff were very good and pleasant. I don't feel like going back again, but among the many ramen shops in Kyoto, this is a recommended place.

During the weekend in Kyoto, with both foreign and Japanese tourists crowding the area, I decided to take a walk around Karasuma looking for a ramen place to avoid the busy hours. I caught a whiff of spicy curry aromas from various places, which put me in the mood for curry. I stopped in front of a curry restaurant, but it was quite crowded inside and I couldn't wait as I was starving. Across the street, I spotted a ramen shop with a Western-style appearance. The sign at the entrance read "Thursdays only - Rich Curry Noodles." I immediately went in and luckily found a seat, although most of the customers were foreigners, making me feel a bit out of place. I ordered the rich curry noodles without hesitation, along with a half portion of roast chicken. The curry noodles lived up to their name, rich and heavily infused with cinnamon - those who dislike cinnamon may want to ask for it to be omitted or reduced. Despite being rich, the curry noodles were surprisingly easy to eat without feeling heavy like curry udon. The roast chicken was delicious too. They also had unique ramen dishes alongside classic options, so I would definitely come back if it's not too crowded. I'd like to try more dishes next time!

The hotel I stayed at was close by, and since I had a heavy lunch, I wanted a light dinner, so I visited this restaurant that caught my eye when I passed by at noon. It's not exactly a ramen shop, more like a bistro. I had the white ramen, and my husband had the black. It was a taste unlike anything we've had before. It's not your typical ramen, but it's good in its own way. I imagine a ramen with a French touch (like the onion potage in this case) made by the chef would have been even more delicious. What surprised me was that although there are 20 seats, which would be about 7-8 tables, everyone except us was foreigners. They seemed to be from France, enjoying their meals quietly. Some families were there too, and I noticed that French children are well-behaved in public places. It's impressive. However, what bothered me was the sound of slurping noodles. Known as "nuhara," the sound of slurping noodles is considered rude in many countries. But this is Japan! My husband cheerfully slurped his noodles without a care. The French diners all glanced at him after his first slurp... My husband, oblivious to their stares (believing in different customs for different places!), made me feel a bit embarrassed. "Sorry for my husband," I thought awkwardly... Even though this is Japan, I didn't have the courage to slurp like that, so I struggled to eat the noodles in an awkward way, more suited for an overseas setting. Maybe that's why I couldn't fully appreciate the taste (laughs). As we left, the chef bid us farewell, confirming that this place is indeed a French-style restaurant.

I went with a brilliant Indian software engineer I work with (^ ^) He had never been to a delicious ramen restaurant in Tokyo, so I suggested we go to a delicious Kyoto ramen place! The restaurant was not your typical ramen shop with an Italian twist. We decided to share, so we ordered soy sauce ramen, tomato-flavored ramen, and spare ribs. Everything was delicious, and the Indian was very satisfied (^ ^)

New Tamago Potage Noodle 1050 yen, Extra Rice 50 yen. It's a ramen created by a French chef... I couldn't resist the limited edition, so I tried the potage noodle... Delicious! But if you're looking for traditional ramen, you might find it lacking. I wanted to enjoy the creamy soup with rice, so I ordered extra rice. It's like risotto, haha. I'd like to try the default ramen next time.

Kyoto nights call for ramen! There's a unique ramen shop near the hotel. I visited "Nakano Noodle Bistro." Despite being a ramen shop, it feels more like a bistro. I arrived after 8 p.m. with only one other group of customers present. The interior doesn't look like a typical ramen shop—it truly has a bistro vibe. The menu includes not only ramen but also dishes like carrot rapé and smoked salmon. Desserts like affogato and gateau chocolat are available too. They offer a variety of drinks, including wine, beer, and cocktails. This time, I ordered... ▪️White soy sauce ramen (¥900) ▪️Stones ginger ale with soda (¥850) The ramen was light yet had a mild flavor. The chashu and soft-boiled egg were deliciously tender! It was easy to eat and I finished it in no time. The Stones ginger ale was easy to drink, and I gulped it down (laughs). Next time, I'll try a ramen with a bistro twist since I'm here. I left feeling great. The owner saw me off. Thank you for the meal!

I tried the white shoyu ramen at "Men Bistro Nakano" in Kyoto's Shijo-Karasuma area. The light and refreshing taste, made from a chicken and seafood broth, surpasses traditional ramen with a French twist, offering a unique and delicious flavor! The toppings are also well seasoned and very tasty.

Even for a solo female diner, a couple, or a girls' night out, this café in Kichijoji with a charming bistro atmosphere resembling a picture book world is perfect. The unconventional ramen features a creamy potage base with a distinct ramen broth flavor. I paired the seasonal mushroom potage noodles with the owner's recommended white wine, and it was so delicious that I couldn't resist ordering the forbidden closing rice dish. I finished it all and resolved to start my diet tomorrow.

Here, they recommend the unique ramen with a mature taste, but isn't the bistro menu more delicious? Oh, divers, they say such blunt things so casually, that's why my friend isn't here. Today, I felt like having beer so I had bottled beer, but next time I want to try wine or sparkling wine. I think wine goes well with normal bistro dishes like pate and camembert. The most popular ramen seems to be the tripe and tomato noodles. I ordered that, but instead of having it as ramen, I just want the simmered tripe and enjoy some wine. The spicy mixed noodles were delicious. The spiciness was well controlled, and the deliciousness of bonito and dried fish flavors stood out more. The interior was truly comfortable like a bistro! I'll come back next time to enjoy some wine ♬

I ordered the classic white soy sauce ramen and roast chicken. Even though it's a classic, I always get tempted by the seasonal limited editions, so this was my first time ordering it. The white tamari and fond de volaille have a soup base made from chicken and seafood, with flat straight noodles. It's ramen, but the fond de volaille is truly bistro-like. The fond de volaille soup is made from simmering chicken bones and vegetables, serving as the base for sauces. The white tamari's saltiness and sweetness complement the soup's light and mild richness, making it very delicious. The roast chicken is also unique to the bistro, tender and juicy, perfect to eat as a ramen topping or as a snack on its own.

I visited the restaurant around 6 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021. The place was almost full, and soon all seats were taken. Although all seats are tables, it seems they do not do shared seating. Today, they were making dishes like Torippara and Tomato Men Don one after another within a few minutes. The soup still had a slight tomato flavor, which I'm not a fan of... However, I think it would be popular with women. It would be better if it was cooked a little more, but it goes well with the thick and chewy noodles. This is definitely a reliable restaurant.

I've been seeing a lot of ramen shops lately run by French chefs. I was curious about this place in Kyoto, so I decided to visit. The interior has a vibe similar to a small French restaurant from some time ago. I ordered the seasonal Vichyssoise noodles for 950 yen. The soup is based on a cold potato soup, but it's a delicious Western-style soup with the combination of potato fries, salty bacon, and powdered cheese. The noodles are medium-thick straight noodles with buckwheat, and they have a very firm texture and elasticity, providing a good bite that goes well with the Western-style soup. As I was leaving, the owner himself came out of the kitchen and thanked me.

Visited on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, a little after 6 pm. Two customers were already there. It felt like they had just opened as there was a line outside. I ordered the "Edamame and Spinach Potage Noodle." The seasonal potage noodles here are delicious. Since I had never seen this menu before, I decided to try it out. From entering the restaurant to getting my bowl, it took about 5 minutes. The noodles here are unique, resembling pasta in a way. The sweetness of the edamame and spinach goes really well with this ramen. It's definitely delicious!

It was raining in Kyoto on that day, and I was walking around during lunchtime without a plan, so I decided to visit this restaurant after a long time. I was seated at a table for two at the back. This time, I decided to try their seasonal limited menu. Even though I felt like having cold noodles in this season, they only had warm dishes available. After a short wait, the "New Onion Potage Noodles (950 yen)" arrived. This time, I also ordered some bread (100 yen) for the first time. The ramen came with a mountain of crispy potato fries, roast chicken, chopped parsley, and a half-seasoned egg on top. The potage soup had the sweetness and umami of fresh spring onions melted in it. When sprinkled with black pepper, it looked somewhat like "carbonara." Personally, I felt that a bit more saltiness would be nice, but I enjoyed it until the end. I think it paired very well with the baguette. Thank you for the meal. ◎ Blog [Kokoro Manoma] https://ameblo.jp/39lohas/entry-12677597581.html
