Today, I had plans to attend a shareholder meeting of a certain company, so I decided to check the location about 2 hours in advance. (Am I too cautious? Can't help it, it's just my personality.) After confirming the location, I felt relieved and decided to take a coffee break at a cafe nearby. As I was wandering around, I stumbled upon a certain establishment - a large wooden building in a residential area with 5-6 people lining up outside. At first, I couldn't tell what kind of building it was, but when I saw small letters (not really a sign) that read "Yamaya Headquarters," I thought it might be the company's main office. I passed by initially, but then became curious and did some research on Tabelog. Turns out it's a restaurant. (It was just about to open) It opens at 11:00, a bit early for lunch, but why not? I decided to join the line. About 5 minutes before opening, the door was opened, and I entered the building. Inside, there was a garden right at the entrance (with dining booths, souvenir corner, cashier, and another restaurant surrounding the garden). The garden is designed to have flowers blooming all year round, with different flowers blooming according to the season. Lovely! The staff guided each person in line to their seats. The lunch menu consisted of 2 main dishes, 2 desserts, and some drinks available as a set for 440 yen. I chose the "Hakata Mentaiko Rice Bowl" for 3,000 yen and a coffee for 440 yen (it's a special coffee roasted with a hot air roaster... a bit exaggerated but it's usually 770 yen, so it's a good deal). I ordered by scanning a QR code with my smartphone, a modern way of ordering. While waiting, I enjoyed the garden view. It would have been perfect if there were birds around, but today there were none. In summer, butterflies might come here. I hope no bees show up. The "Onion Soup" arrived, served in a cup without a spoon, so I had to drink it directly from the cup. It was a thick and delicious soup. Then, the main course arrived - a total of 12 dishes including freshly made mentaiko, onsen tamago, and sauces. Finally, a freshly cooked rice pot was served. The rice was from Fukuoka, very shiny and slightly sweet, perfect on its own. Each dish was delightful and visually appealing. Surprisingly, the tofu was really tasty. The sashimi with different sauces was delicious too. It was a luxurious experience to enjoy various ingredients in small portions. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the ochazuke as I ran out of rice. I tried to drink the soup separately, and it was tasty. I asked if I could have more rice, but it wasn't possible. I wish they had offered more rice considering the amount of food. I was interested in the dessert menu, so I definitely want to come back soon. The place was quite busy as it had just opened and it was lunchtime, but it seemed to calm down around 1:00 pm. It may vary depending on the day...
