I feel like eating Korean pork belly barbecue "Samgyeopsal"! This is a trendy Korean dining place mainly found in Fukuoka. The restaurant is filled with young women and plays K-POP music inside. In Fukuoka, there are various traditional and orthodox Korean cuisine and barbecue restaurants, but most of them focus on evening business. Even if they offer lunch, they usually have fixed set menu options. I visited this place because they serve Samgyeopsal for lunch. It's about a 3-4 minute walk from Akasaka subway station. It's also within walking distance from Tenjin central area and Yakuin. Next to it is a delicious miso ramen specialty shop called "Fukubee." The restaurant was empty when I took this photo close to the end of lunch time, but during busy hours, there were many young female customers. The staff are also mostly young women. During lunch, I couldn't resist ordering a Mega Highball. I hesitated but ended up ordering another one later (laughs). If you drink a lot, it's better to go for the all-you-can-drink course. The side dish I ordered as a drink accompaniment was Chijimi (Korean-style pancake). I chose the "All-Toppings Chijimi" for 880 yen. There are also options like seafood, potato, kimchi, and spicy Chijimi. It has a crispy and fragrant surface, almost like fried, and it's delicious. The menu for Samgyeopsal is shown. It costs 1,628 yen per serving (order for 2 servings or more). The pork is from Kagoshima prefecture's brand pig, Kirishima foothills pork. "Samgyeopsal" means pork belly barbecue in Korean, but you can also choose skin-on "Ogyeopsal" or neck and shoulder meat "Moksal." This time, I chose the skin-on pork belly "Ogyeopsal" and neck and shoulder meat "Moksal" which are not commonly found in Japanese cuisine. The set for Samgyeopsal barbecue includes lettuce, thinly sliced raw radish, Pajori (green onion salad), Ssamjang (Korean spicy miso), and rock salt sesame oil. The Samgyeopsal has a lot of fat, but the grill is slanted so that the melted fat drains into a plate below. So, it's zero calories (laughs)! *The red liquid is not blood but the juice from the bean sprout kimchi. The staff kindly cuts the thick pork and grills it thoroughly on all sides, which is a nice service. The finished product~♪ The meat itself is delicious, so you can eat it as is or wrap it in the Korean style. This time it was barbecue, but this restaurant also serves lunch and a la carte menus for solo diners. I'm curious about Korea's national food "Jjajangmyeon" and Korean-style spicy beef soup "Tangyusuk." They also have one-plate lunch menus. It includes Kimbap (Korean seaweed roll), Korean-style fried chicken with Yangnyeom sauce, and vegetable side dishes. I've been watching too many Korean movies lately, so my craving for Korean food is high. I'll definitely come back before the craving fades♪ [Name of the Restaurant] Korena Dining Aplow Daimyo Branch [Address] 1-9-23 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka [Business Hours] 12:00-15:00 (L.O. 14:30) 17:00-21:00 (L.O. 20:30) *During shortened business hours.
