I had lunch at Rokuro-san in a hotel in Hokkaido for the first time in a while. I made a reservation in advance because you can't enter without one. This time, I had the "Shinryo" lunch set for 2200 yen, which included tempura (shrimp, small fish, shiitake mushroom, pumpkin, green pepper) with grated radish and dashi broth, fried eggplant with ginger, sesame tofu with wasabi and radish, bonito sashimi with grated yam and shiso leaves, grilled chicken with onions, paprika, green kale, and mustard seeds, mushroom rice with snap peas, maple-shaped carrots, miso soup, fig pudding, and black tea. The dishes were beautifully presented in small portions, making it easy to enjoy a variety of flavors. The tempura was crispy and the dashi broth was light and delicious with grated radish. The mushroom rice was moist and flavorful, with carrot leaves shaped like maple leaves, which was a nice touch. Each dish was warm and showcased the quality of the ingredients, making me feel very happy while eating. The fig pudding for dessert had a smooth texture and went well with the black tea. It was a delightful meal. The menu changes monthly, so you can enjoy different dishes each time you visit.

On the occasion of my father-in-law's 80th birthday celebration, my wife was in charge of organizing the event. Being a food blogger myself, I had some input in selecting the restaurant. I suggested going to a place we've never been before, but my wife insisted that for such a special occasion, there was no better place than a restaurant suitable for celebrations. She explained that in Obihiro, where we live, there are few restaurants suitable for such occasions. I was tempted to make a sarcastic remark, but upon checking on food review websites, I found that she was right. So, we ended up at "Washoku Rokuro" for lunch, as it was a place we had visited before. The meal was decent, with highlights being the fried corn and shrimp dish. Overall, it was an average dining experience, and I couldn't help but think that maybe ordering sushi for the next celebration would be a better option.

The annual #HokkaidoHotel event this year did not have the "To-Tono-E" room (price was double compared to last year), but the large communal bath was less crowded than last year, so we were able to enjoy it fully. For meals, we had a traditional Japanese course this time. We opted for a more expensive course since we chose a cheaper room, and we were provided with a private room to relax in. We enjoyed seasonal ingredients, and the food was very delicious. Breakfast was also Japanese style. Recommended lunch for May: Aoba Gozen for 1980 yen. The tempura coating of the shrimp was made with rice crackers, giving it a crispy and delicious flavor. About 20 years ago, they had cherry blossom ice cream during this season, which was so delicious that I still remember it. I check every year to see if they have cherry blossom ice cream again. This time, they had strawberry ice cream. There were many customers of the same generation.

I landed at the Forest Spa Resort Hokkaido Hotel, which was also chosen as a sauna shrine. This was a workation focused on saunas, but since I came all the way to Hokkaido, I had high expectations for the food as well. On this day, I ordered a pork bowl with the meal ticket that came with the accommodation plan. (You can choose between pork bowl and tempura bowl, but when it comes to Tokachi, it has to be pork bowl, right?) It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was simply delicious. It had a reassuring and stable taste, and as someone who enjoys rich flavors, I think that Tokachi's pork bowl and beer make the perfect combination. The sauna was also very good, so I thought I would like to visit the Hokkaido Hotel for workations more often.

On January 10, 2022, what I can do now is to support at least restaurants while being careful enough. Let's all do our best together! Today, I visited a representative hotel in Obihiro that I had planned to visit for New Year's since last year, "Hokkaido Hotel Washoku Rokuro." The location is on Nishi 7-jo, behind McDonald's Obihiro Nishi 5-jo store on the west side. The exterior and interior of the hotel are beautiful and spacious, truly worthy of being a Hokkaido hotel. I made a reservation for one person at 12:00. I pre-ordered the "New Year's Special Set Meal" for 2,200 yen (tax included). It's a bit cheaper than last year. In about 12 minutes, the contents of the New Year's special set meal included tempura (shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, spring chrysanthemum), sashimi (bluefin tuna red meat, cold mackerel), shrimp dumplings with sauce, mozuku vinegar, ankimo tofu, pickles, shredded chicken salad, miso soup, crab chirashi sushi, yuzu pudding, and coffee. The tempura was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, very delicious. The crab chirashi sushi had a small portion but was tasty with the vinegar rice. My favorite was the ankimo tofu, with a rich flavor that was very delicious. The yuzu pudding had a strong yuzu flavor, a good balance of acidity and sweetness, and was incredibly delicious. Overall, the dishes were made with great care and attention to detail, truly living up to the reputation of Hokkaido Hotel. It was very delicious. The reasonably priced Japanese set meal was excellent, as expected from Hokkaido Hotel. The service was several levels above regular restaurants, very polite and pleasant. A few more groups of customers came and left. It's not easy to get a table at Hokkaido Hotel for lunch on New Year's Day without a reservation at 12:00. I will come back to try the Western and Japanese lunch menu. Unfortunately, the garlic French bread was sold out, so I couldn't buy it. I will buy a ticket and head home. Thank you for the meal. Please be prepared and be careful as there is a forecast for heavy snow from tomorrow afternoon until the day after tomorrow. This is a shop that I wouldn't be able to visit easily without the discount coupon. The Hanakago Rokuro (bento box) for 2900 yen comes with rice and miso soup for an additional 500 yen, and you can also choose noodles or other options. It's fun and nice to be able to taste various flavors little by little. From chawanmushi to dessert, everything was delicious and it was a fantastic dinner. I visited without a reservation, but if you go with a reservation during the opening hours, you can get a discount on drinks, so don't forget. I had a draft beer and with the use of a 2000 yen coupon, it came to 2150 yen, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious feeling.

I purchased several bento boxes. They were quite expensive! I'm not a fan of bento boxes, but I think they taste best when eaten fresh. However, I was intrigued. I saw advertisements for this product in the newspaper and on the radio. Since they are from the same group, they wouldn't say anything bad about it. Is the main dish steak or eel rice? Both are delicious. The sausages from Yachiyo are not good. The shrimp, terrine, and marinated items are okay. The various cheeses, kuzumochi, and fruits are included in the box, so even though it's a bit pricey at 5400 yen, it's worth it. It's enjoyable to have a variety of items in one box. Happy New Year! Today is New Year's Day. Since not many shops are open on the 1st, I checked a local information magazine to find a place that is open. I decided to have a special hotel lunch at Hokkaido Hotel Washoku Rokuro for the first time in about 3 years. I made a reservation after confirming that it's possible to dine alone, and they said 11:45 am is fine. The location is in Nishi 7-jo, behind the McDonald's Obihiro Nishi 5-jo store on the west side. The exterior and interior of the restaurant are clean and spacious, truly fitting for a Hokkaido Hotel. At 11:45 am, there were many customers before and after me. It seems that all the early lunch slots are fully reserved today. I was guided to a private room, even though I was dining alone. I had pre-ordered the New Year's special set meal for 2,600 yen (including tax). In about 30 minutes, the set meal arrived. The New Year's set meal included tempura (shrimp, squid, green pepper), sashimi (tuna roll with seaweed, red sea bream sashimi), crab and yam tofu steamed in tofu skin, watercress with tasty sauce, grilled chicken with rapeseed blossoms, baked pie, pickled radish with mustard, spinach rolled omelet with dashi, simmered shrimp legs, grilled fish cake with lemon and chili pepper, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), miso soup, rice with mixed vegetables, dessert, and coffee. The presentation was beautiful and appetizing. The tempura was crispy and perfectly fried, very delicious. The red sea bream had a nice fatty texture, and the soy was flavorful and tender. The simmered dish was carefully prepared. The chawanmushi had a rich bonito flavor and was incredibly tasty. The rice with mixed vegetables had salmon roe on top, making it very delicious. The yam tofu was creamy and delicious. Overall, the meal was meticulously prepared and very delicious for the price of 2,600 yen (tax included). The service at Hokkaido Hotel is exceptional, a few levels above regular dining establishments. The staff is very polite and pleasant. I will definitely come back for both Western and Japanese cuisine lunches in the future. I will also buy some garlic butter bread to take home. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This is Obihiro. It's a day trip. And I can't do my food log activity because I'm with clients all day, so I can't meet Mairebi-san either (*≧∀≦*) Ate at a restaurant on the first floor of a Hokkaido hotel while talking about work. I really wanted to try the Indian curry that I haven't visited yet, but couldn't do that because of work, so disappointing (≧∀≦) Inside, there were many elderly people who seemed relaxed and comfortable! Seems to be popular ♫ Couldn't take photos of the menu, but everyone ordered elaborately prepared lunches. Overall, it had a rich atmosphere and gentle flavors. The miso soup was like a clear soup, so maybe the target audience is the elderly? Already considered elderly? Still young at heart! Taste-wise, I might find this kind of lunch a bit unsatisfying because I have a young palate, but generally speaking, it's a pretty delicious lunch ^_^ Couldn't buy souvenirs and rushed back to Sapporo, eagerly awaiting Goro Noguchi! Haha, it was a delicious meal ^_^

Review from when I lived in Obihiro: A Hokkaido hotel bento box received from a customer on the day of the groundbreaking ceremony. A two-tiered bento box with 16 dishes, each with a sophisticated and delicious taste. It was a very delicious bento box made by a high-level hotel. I visited a restaurant where I could eat Tokachi Wagyu, just a few minutes by taxi from Obihiro Station. Although the menu only had a sukiyaki course with Tokachi Wagyu, they kindly allowed me to order sukiyaki a la carte. The service was very polite, and the food was delicious. It was also good that I could drink Tokachi sake.

I went after a long time and found that the prices had gone up. A recommended lunch spot is one where they serve plate lunches with generous portions. However, I felt like something was missing. I particularly enjoyed the flavoring of the Hirekatsu Yanagawa-style dish.
