It's a soba izakaya, but it's okay even if you don't drink alcohol! I ordered the cold soba noodles for 570 yen (tax included) with extra noodles for an additional 160 yen (tax included). The portion size here is about 1.5 times larger than other places even without the extra noodles, and with the extra noodles, it becomes about 4.5 times larger. The soba came topped with a generous amount of tempura flakes and bonito flakes, a lot of green onions, and a little bit of chopped seaweed, creating a luxurious version that covers the entire soba. I have visited this place many times but this is my first time posting. It is a chain restaurant of Gourmet Kineya located near Temmabashi Station. They serve generous portions, about 1.5 times the normal size of soba noodles. Today, I had the daily special set for 830 yen, which included bonito sashimi rice bowl and soba noodles. The food was served quickly and tasted delicious. They also have a variety of cold dishes available in the summer. My favorite is the cold soba noodles with soft-boiled egg. Thank you for the meal. I considered ordering a set with a bowl, but ended up ordering the chicken tempura soba. The soba tasted average, like station soba, but the portion was huge. It was more than 1.5 times the expected amount of soba with double the amount of chicken tempura. The chicken tempura was delicious, but the size of each piece was quite large, so maybe half the amount would have been enough. This is a good place to go when you want to eat a lot of soba.

When it gets cold, I always crave curry udon or curry soba noodles. On this day, I was in the mood for that, so I headed to Tenjinbashi-Suji shopping street. Unfortunately, the curry udon place I wanted to go was sold out. So, I ended up having lunch at the familiar "Our Soba" shop. I was planning to order my usual cold soba noodles, but they had a limited-time special "Curry Soba" on the menu. I've tried it before and was surprised by how delicious it was the first time, but disappointed the second time. Despite my hesitation, I decided to give it a try this season. When the dish arrived, it looked good. The broth was not too spicy, and the noodles were slurpy. The cabbage was crunchy, but it felt like it diluted the broth with its moisture. There was a good amount of pork belly in the dish, but I'm not a fan of pork belly. I ended up rescuing the noodles from the pork belly and managed to finish the meal. I think I still prefer cold soba or bukkake soba. Maybe I just prefer a milder flavor for my curry soba. I'm grateful to the staff, the restaurant, the ingredients, and the meal. Stopping for lunch on the northbound Hanshin Expressway at noon was a bold move, which took a lot of time to get to Osaka Kita Ward Office and finish my errands. "Now, what should I eat?" I spotted a soba shop in Temma Shopping Street. Chicken tempura and soba set for ¥840. I love chicken tempura ❤️ I love soba ❤️ Decision made! Let's go in. The chicken tempura in the bowl turned out to be chicken nanban, not the crispy tempura I was looking for. But it was delicious! The flavor was great. The soba had a good broth and a nice yuzu aroma. Oh, the soba portion was huge! It was difficult for my small stomach to finish both the bowl and the soba. In the end, I managed to finish the bowl with the delicious broth, but I left some of the soba. The menu is extensive, and if it's nearby, I would definitely visit this place again. It was delicious! The toppings seemed a bit less than usual, and the tempura bits were also slightly different... The taste was still great though! The chikuwa tempura was just okay... It's called Kuso Oyaji no Saigo no Hitofuri. I haven't eaten at the main branch yet! There was also Kozou-san in Fukushima! They have their own style of ramen as well. I decided to skip Saigo no Hitofuri for now and as I was about to go back, I saw a soba noodle shop! It's called Ora ga Soba Tenma Station KY Building. It seems to be a chain restaurant related to Gourmet Kineya. They offer udon, soba, and Western dishes as well. I entered the shop and since the timing was just right, there were only two customers inside. A female staff member led us to a table for two. The menu had a lot of options, but I wanted something light, so I ordered... ・Grated soba noodles ・Medium size for 680 yen It's a reasonable price, isn't it? The dish arrived shortly after! The visual... it's quite a generous portion! It's a simple soba noodle dish with a strong broth, grated daikon radish in the middle, green onions, and bonito flakes. I started by slurping the soba noodles alone... They were firm with a good texture and a nice bite. I then mixed them with the broth and continued slurping... The broth wasn't as strong as it looked, and it was delicious. Mixing it with the grated daikon radish added a light and tasty touch. For 680 yen, the portion size and taste are quite impressive for a soba restaurant. Next time, I want to try their warm soba noodles with tempura. Thank you for the meal. I usually order the following items: - Zaru Soba for ¥510 - Half portion of Chikuwa Tempura for ¥70 At this restaurant, the Chikuwa Tempura is served separately in a dish, which is convenient. The soba was nicely chilled, with a smooth texture. The soba broth had a slightly less sweetness compared to Doutchika, giving it a refreshing taste. The Chikuwa Tempura was delicious as always, with a hint of nori flavor. When I finished my meal, they brought me soba-yu (hot water used to rinse the remaining soba sauce from the bowl), which was a nice touch. They also offer a happy hour menu during lunch, where you can get a drink like beer, edamame, and oden for just one coin. Unfortunately, they couldn't serve alcohol due to the state of emergency. I hope to come back for a daytime drink once the state of emergency is lifted. Oh, and the total bill came to ¥530 after the 50 yen discount. The large size meant that both the beef and the soba noodles were 1.5 times the regular portion. After a short wait, the soba arrived. It was a huge portion (I wasn't sure if I could finish it all). Oh, I remember now, the last time I visited another Oraga Soba location, the portions were also quite large. I should have ordered the regular size instead of the large one. Anyway, let's dig in. First, the raw egg. I wasn't sure how to eat it. Should I mix it with the noodles or put it in the dipping sauce? I decided to set it aside for now and tried the soba with the dipping sauce. The spicy dipping sauce enhanced the flavor of the soba, although it was a bit overpowering. The sweet and savory beef, green onions, and seaweed all combined well with the soba. Next, I added the beaten egg to the dipping sauce. The egg mixed well with the soba and added a nice texture. I was delighted to see the raw egg as I used to always add quail eggs to my soba dipping sauce when I was a child. However, no matter how much I ate, the soba seemed never-ending. But on a day when I wanted to indulge in soba, it was just right. Plus, the fact that all this was under 1000 yen made me very happy.
