In September, my husband seemed to be upset when I wrote a review of our one-night trip as "a business hotel with a hot spring attached." So this time, he splurged and booked a room with an outdoor bath. It's my first luxury experience in over half a century of life (laughs). We arrived in Oshamanbe, had lunch, and headed straight to Yunokawa. We arrived around 2 pm, and there was a line of cars in front of the main entrance. I tried to check in first, but they were following a first-come, first-served system to avoid crowding at the front desk, so I was asked to wait in the lobby. As I walked further in, what jumped into my eyes was... the sea! The Tsugaru Strait can be seen from the panoramic glass windows. Sitting on the sofa by the window, I gazed at the crashing waves and thought, "I can wait here forever..." in a dreamy state. Eventually, my husband joined me, and time seemed to pass in a surreal way, but we were probably called for check-in after about 10 minutes. When we entered the room, the sea welcomed us again! I won't review the food since this is a food blog, but just the view alone made me feel like it was worth coming here (*'ω'*)
The meals were included in the dinner and breakfast buffet plan. The venue was the same for both. I was impressed with the individual servings to avoid using tongs as much as possible. They were careful about infection prevention, changing tongs every 30 minutes. The dinner had a wide variety of dishes, and I indulged in the delicious grilled snow crab and even had seconds. My husband put grilled snow crab in his ramen. He was very satisfied, saying, "It's not often you get such a luxurious ramen!" I headed to the sushi corner. They made the requested sushi right there. The hand-rolled sushi was fun, but the sushi rice was a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, the small portions allowed me to try a variety of dishes, which I enjoyed. The steak was freshly grilled. When I went for seconds, I noticed the words "beef fat-injected meat," which was a bit disappointing, but it's a buffet, so that's to be expected. Surprisingly, the marinated squid was delicious. Its crispy texture and lightly seasoned taste went well with alcohol. Alcohol was at an extra charge, so I used the "Regional Common Coupon" from GOTO to order. Lastly, the desserts. I tried many types of cakes, but overall, they were too sweet. The cheesecake and blueberry cake were easy to eat. The homemade chocolate tart was rich and smooth. Although the base was more like pie crust than tart, it was less sweet than the other cakes, which I appreciated. The breakfast the next day included a mini seafood bowl made with sashimi. The small-sized salmon roe was enjoyable, but the squid was missing, and the salmon was slightly freezer-burned, which was disappointing. The freshly baked bread corner was irresistible, and I ended up with a full stomach in the morning (laughs). Overall, the meals were served in small portions, which was great for someone like me who wanted to try various dishes. The flavors were refined and easy to eat, and I was generally satisfied.
The view from the room's outdoor bath was truly breathtaking!! During the day, you can see the Tsugaru Strait right in front of you, with Mount Hakodate nearby and the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori faintly visible in the distance. At night, the squid fishing boat's fishing lights, visible from July to December every year, were very impressive. It felt like being in a fantastic paradise (*´▽`*) The room seemed to have been renovated and was clean. Seagulls flew nearby, and you could see airplanes taking off from Hakodate Airport. Although I initially questioned being on the 3rd floor in a deluxe room, I was satisfied after using the outdoor bath. The perfect eye level allowed for a wide view of the sea! The hot water seemed to be natural spring water, but due to the current situation, the disinfectant smell was a bit strong. It's unfortunate, but it can't be helped, and it may provide peace of mind. Still, being able to bathe anytime was truly a luxury.
