Today, my family and I came to this restaurant. The local okonomiyaki restaurant in our area, "Gouemon," closed down, and we were excited to see what would come next. To our surprise, it was a monjayaki restaurant. We arrived before noon and found a slightly flashy interior with only table seating. The menu included monjayaki, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yakisoba, teppanyaki, rice dishes, drinks, etc. I ordered the popular "mentaiko monja," while my family ordered the "mix tamago & modern" monja. I wanted to have a beer, but since we were driving, I couldn't.
After a while, a cute girl came and cooked the monja in front of us. She heated the griddle, spread oil, mixed the batter, cooked the ingredients, shaped it into a donut, poured in the remaining batter, mixed it, and finally shaped it into a square. At the same time, the mix tamago modern monja that my family ordered arrived. This was my first time trying monjayaki, and I struggled a bit with the small spatula. The taste was unique, with a hint of mentaiko flavor, but it was quite different from okonomiyaki. It was a bit messy and hard to eat. The portion was on the lighter side. The okonomiyaki my family ordered was delicious. I'm not sure if this is the authentic Tokyo taste, but it was a good experience. The service was good. Overall, it was a unique experience.
