Raffa by Speranza, located across from Kansai Super in Sagisu, is a small restaurant with a counter seating for 10 people. Everything, from cheese to bacon, prosciutto, and terrine, is handmade by the big-bodied chef running the place by himself.
I tried THE LUNCH C course for ¥1,550 (tax included), which includes 5 types of appetizers, today's soup, choice of pasta, pizza, or risotto, today's main dish, and today's dessert. I also enjoyed a white wine for ¥440 (tax included).
The appetizer platter consisted of eggplant gratin, pork salad, cold pasta, baked mashed potatoes, and terrine with chicken, eggplant, and eggs. All dishes had a rich flavor without being overpowering, especially the terrine which was outstanding.
The white wine paired perfectly with the meal. The pasta of the day was bacon, zucchini, and cherry tomato in butter sauce, cooked al dente and bursting with flavor from the homemade cheese.
The main dish was Italian meatballs with a spicy kick and a hearty texture, complemented by the homemade cheese in the Italian sauce. The dessert was tiramisu, perfectly balancing sweetness and bitterness.
Despite being full, I couldn't resist the delicious course meal. The chef, Raffa, from Naples, made the dining experience enjoyable with his lively conversations. I look forward to trying the carbonara made with egg yolks instead of cream next time. Thank you for the feast!
