On this day, we went to Gion in Kyoto. It had been 17 years since my pre-wedding trip to Kyoto, and my friend who lives in Kyoto had made a reservation for us! We walked along the Kamo River from Shijo Ohashi Bridge, then headed to Pontocho. Around 8 pm, in the dark, we walked down a narrow and charming street and found an old Japanese house on the left. Personally, I found it rare to see an old Japanese house with an entrance, and the atmosphere was really nice! So, we went inside. The restaurant was packed with people in their 20s and 30s, as well as foreign tourists. It was impressive that my friend was able to make a reservation for us! Despite it being a Monday, the restaurant was fully booked for indoor reservations only! We were guided to the 2nd floor and seated at a table. This time, we only made a reservation for the table and ordered a la carte. We ordered dishes such as Yukhoe with grated yam, premium fatty tuna sushi, grilled Japanese beef tongue, thick-sliced premium beef loin, assorted premium beef cuts, assorted hormone meats, and more. Each dish was so amazing that it would take too long to describe them all, so I'll keep it concise. The hospitality of the head chef, the manager, and all the staff at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic! They paid attention to every little detail and made sure we were always satisfied. This alone makes me want to visit again! Of course, all the dishes were of high quality, using very good meat, but they made them even more delicious. The trio of Yukhoe, finely sliced beef tongue, and Ranou was like a trio of top stars ruling the stage. The grilled sushi not only had a great performance but was also perfectly cooked. The grilled beef tongue with finely chopped domestic leeks had an amazing texture. The thickness of the tongue was just right for wrapping with leeks! The hormone meats were beautifully arranged with herbs and citrus fruits, stimulating our appetite. We tried various dishes, and the cream brulee we had last was a dessert that completely blew away the fact that we came for grilled meat. It was a dessert that left a lasting impression, made by a chef who had trained in France since the establishment of the restaurant. And the egg was so delicious that we asked the staff about it. It turned out to be made with Ranou eggs. The rich and creamy brulee with a crispy surface was so delicious that we had to call the staff again. We stayed for about 2.5 hours, ate a lot, and had the best gourmet experience in Kyoto! It was the perfect finish for a Gion date course dinner! Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went to a very popular lunch spot in Kyoto - Kyoto Yakiniku Enen located in Pontocho, just a short walk from Shijo Kawaramachi. Reservations are a must for their two lunch options: "Steak Donburi Comparison" and "Yukke Donburi Comparison," both priced at 1980 yen each. Each dish features different types of meat and egg yolk, allowing you to enjoy the different flavors. It's so luxurious! When you mix the egg yolk with the meat, the rich taste of the egg and the tender meat combine into something truly delicious. I was glad I made a reservation in advance because even on a weekday, there was a constant stream of customers, showing how popular this place is. They were issuing tickets to manage the queue. The calm atmosphere inside the restaurant allowed me to enjoy my meal leisurely, savoring the delicious meat and feeling completely satisfied. I highly recommend this place, but be sure to make a reservation before you go. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant in Pontocho. We were seated on the second floor. It seemed to be a two-turn system, as by the time we left, there was no one else on our floor. They had two types of dipping sauces and a washing sauce set up at the counter seats by the window. The interior was stylish, and there were many couples and foreigners. We started with a plate of namul, and the purple cabbage namul was delicious. The meat sushi was served raw and then seared in front of us. We also ordered a comparison of tongue dishes and a mixed plate. I forgot to take photos of some other dishes we tried. Lastly, we were torn between cold noodles and cheese bibimbap, but we chose the latter. The cheese was fluffy and melted just right, making it very tasty. I thought it would be a great place for a girls' night out.

Located a few minutes' walk from Pontocho on the Shijo side, this stylish yakiniku restaurant has a small but chic interior. This time, we ordered only yakiniku dishes. We started with tan shio, followed by salted rosu, kalbi, harami, and finished with rosu in tare sauce. The taste was decent, and overall it was a good value for money. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant for a dinner during a girls' trip to Kyoto♪♪ The Handball Meat Sushi Full Course (by reservation only) is a glamorous dish featuring 10 types of olive and caper oil marinated, green onion salt lemon pepper, special eatable chili oil, solid soy sauce x flying fish roe, blue cheese chumokpab, Korean onigiri, purple cabbage namul, spinach namul, grain mustard Genovese. The various flavors are enjoyable in the glamorous appearance♪ The live feeling is full as the staff grills the food right in front of you, and they can adjust the doneness to your liking - rare, medium rare, or well done. The meat is cut into easy-to-eat sizes, which is also nice♡ The burrata cheese salad with plenty of melon has fresh burrata cheese with sweet melon and black pepper as an accent. The thick-cut meat, served in a yakiniku style, allows you to compare the juicy marbled and lean meat - this day, I had Ichibo and rib loin. The juicy flavor of Ichibo overflows in your mouth when you bite into it, and the rib loin is also delicious. The abundance of sudachi on the plate is perfect for summer, and the sudachi cold noodles have a refreshing scent and a refreshing texture, perfect for a summer noodle dish. I thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious meat full course. The course is glamorous and filling, so you'll want to try a variety of dishes! The dishes are so photogenic that you'll want to take pictures. Perfect for celebrations and surprises. Handball Meat Sushi Full Course (by reservation only) ¥7000 (including tax) Seasonal fruit and burrata cheese salad Black beef handball meat sushi Soup of the day Black beef marbled and lean meat thick-cut comparison Summer: Sudachi cold noodles Winter: Wagyu dashi udon Dessert Beauty vinegar calamansi lemon sour ¥520 Ginger lemon sour ¥520 The course content may change depending on the availability of the meat.

I tried the popular Temari meat sushi full course at a restaurant I've been wanting to visit for a long time! The course includes: - Seasonal fruit and burrata cheese salad - Black Wagyu Temari meat sushi - Today's soup - Comparison of marbled and lean cuts of black Wagyu beef - Sudachi cold noodles (summer only) - Dessert The seasonal fruit was a ripe melon with overflowing white cheese that was juicy and had a mild taste. The cute Temari meat sushi comes in 10 varieties and can be seared to your liking. I prefer mine rare for that extra meaty flavor. It melts in your mouth! The comparison of marbled and lean cuts of beef allows you to enjoy the rich flavor and firm texture of the meat. The rib roast offers a high-quality balance of fat and meat that is a delight when cooked to your liking. The summer-only Sudachi cold noodles are refreshing with a delightful Sudachi citrus aroma. It's a perfect way to end the meal and feel happy. The dessert, a creamy brulee, is as delicious as it sounds - creamy and irresistible! It disappeared in an instant. This course, filled with girls' favorites, left me completely satisfied and is sure to be a memorable part of my Kyoto sightseeing experience! Thanks to this, I had a wonderful evening. Thank you for the meal!

We made a reservation in advance for dessert. The dessert was Baumkuchen, which was quite large, enough for 2-3 people, so we ended up taking it home... It was nice to have a voluminous dessert that we could take home❗️The "Fujii-kun's TKG" is an original staff meal created by a part-time worker at the restaurant. Unfortunately, Fujii-kun wasn't working that day, but it was delicious✨ We were the only Japanese customers as everyone else was from overseas!! Black-haired Wagyu beef temari sushi light course. The combination of melon and burrata was good♪ The temari sushi is grilled to your liking with a burner. The kabosu cold noodles were refreshing and delicious. Despite the course being named "light," it was actually quite filling and I left with a full stomach.

The store was scheduled to open at 11:30, but they were already distributing numbered tickets at 10:00 and opened at 11:00. I got ticket number 2. The set menu included bean sprout namul and meat sukiyaki yukhoe, which had a smooth texture similar to negitoro. The rich orange egg yolk on the rice with yukhoe was a perfect match! The classic yukhoe was thinly sliced beef tongue, which had a unique chewiness even in its rare state, making a big difference in the yukhoe bowl. The bowl was slightly small, so if you're really hungry, you might find it a bit lacking. The standard wasabi was delicious, but surprisingly, the yuzu pepper was also good. The atmosphere and service from the female staff were very pleasant! Thank you for the meal.

I had lunch at the popular restaurant enen, where reservations are not available and they distribute same-day tickets. Luckily, I was able to get a ticket and waited for about 30 minutes before entering the restaurant. I ordered the steak comparison set and the yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) comparison set. The yukhoe was delicious, but the steak bowl was quite rare, almost like raw meat. I felt that it was a bit pricey, but the beautifully arranged comparison bowls were visually appealing. My companion ordered the yukhoe comparison set. In my personal opinion, eating two yukhoe bowls might make your stomach feel heavy, so I recommend the steak bowl for those with a weaker tolerance! Both bowls were delicious from start to finish.

Weekend lunch requires a reservation. Reservations can be made online from the 15th of the previous month, but I found the reservation process a bit confusing. I called because I couldn't figure it out, but was told that reservations cannot be made over the phone for small groups. I felt a bit frustrated at that time, but managed to get someone to help me make an online reservation. On the day of the visit, everything went smoothly without any issues, and the staff provided clear and polite explanations. I heard about the Wagyu temari sushi, but I don't remember the details ^^; There was a paper with explanations about the meat on the table. I ate while looking at it, but I wasn't sure which one to put on the meat. It would be nice if they could write some recommendations. They gave me some time to take photos before the staff seared the meat with a burner. The meat sushi had a very refined taste, and I thought it might not be enough at first, but as I savored it slowly, it turned out to be just the right amount. I would like to come back for yakiniku at night next time.

This is a restaurant located about 5 minutes from Pontocho. The atmosphere is full of Kyoto vibes! I ordered the en.en course for 6600 yen. The course included Chorogi salad, one-bite Yukhoe, seared sushi with wagyu beef, egg soup, well-researched Negitan, a selection of premium beef cuts (this time it was a 6-piece assortment including lamp, top kalbi, ichibo, salt mino, rib roast, and top harami), choice of rice dish (TKG, tororo rice, or bibimbap - I chose bibimbap), and dessert (yuzu ice cream, creme brulee, and another option which I forgot - I chose yuzu ice cream). The one-bite Yukhoe was delicious with the runny egg on top. Wrapping the tongue in green onions and grilling it was amazing! The lamp and ichibo were the most delicious meats this time. The flavor of the meat spread all over the mouth. The egg soup was smooth and light, perfect for refreshing the palate. Highly recommended for both locals and tourists in Kyoto!

The interior of the restaurant was stylish and the menu was extensive, which was great. The Negitan Shio (green onion salt) that we ordered initially was cooked by the staff in a delicious way, and we were able to enjoy it very much. The following meat dishes were tasty even without sauce, as they were already seasoned. The cold noodles served as the closing dish were smaller than expected, but just the right size for a closing dish. My companion ordered vinegar for the cold noodles, but it came in a small dish, which seemed insufficient for someone who likes a lot of vinegar.

It was my first visit to the popular yakiniku restaurant, enen, in Pontocho, Kyoto! It was about a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station, so the access was quite good! I have been to Pontocho before, but I had never been to a yakiniku restaurant there, so I didn't know about this place! Wow, there's such a cute and stylish restaurant here! I was surprised when I arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 pm for my reservation, and there was a sign saying that they were fully booked for the day. What? Fully booked? There are so many dining options in Pontocho, but this place is super popular! I'm glad I made a reservation! The course I ordered today was the enen course for 6600 yen (tax included). The course details include Chorogi salad, a bite-sized yukhoe, wagyu beef aburi sushi, egg soup, negitan, a selection of 6 premium beef cuts, bibimbap as the finishing dish, and dessert. You can choose between bibimbap, tororo gohan, or egg over rice for the finishing dish, and there are several dessert options to choose from! I personally love restaurants where you can choose the finishing dish and dessert! The bite-sized yukhoe was cute and Instagram-worthy. It was slightly spicy and delicious. It was easy to eat when paired with the boiled egg on top, as it helped to mellow out the spiciness. The negitan is grilled by the staff at the restaurant, and they recommended a specific way to cook it. I tried to imitate it, but it was quite difficult and I couldn't do it well. You wrap plenty of leeks around the beef tongue seasoned with salt and eat it! It was even more delicious when I squeezed lemon on it for a flavor change. The restaurant has a counter and table seats on the first floor, and about 6 table seats on the second floor, which was spacious! The atmosphere and interior of the restaurant had a stylish Japanese feel that was perfect for Pontocho! It seems to be popular among tourists as well. There were many foreign customers. Lunch is also popular, so I'll have to try it next time! Thank you for the delicious meal! It was so good!

I came to enen, a Kyoto yakiniku restaurant that is also popular on social media. This time, I ordered the en.en course for 6600 yen. The course includes: Chorogi salad, One-bite Yukke, Beef Toro wagyu seared sushi, Tamago soup, Pursued Negitan, Select beef variety, choice of rice dishes such as TKG, Tororo rice, or Bibimbap, and choice of dessert between Yuzu ice cream or Creme brulee. The select beef variety included Lamp, Special Kalbi, Ichibo, Salt Mino, Rib roast, and Top Harami, a total of 6 varieties. The Mino was crunchy and delicious. Among them, my favorite was the Kalbi! The one-bite Yukke was a unique type with meat on top of a half-cooked egg. The combination of egg and meat was excellent! The pursued Negitan was really delicious, it was steamed and grilled with green onions, and it was so tasty! I ate it while receiving instructions on how to cook from the staff. The egg soup was a light and refreshing taste that was perfect for cleansing the palate. I didn't know there was such a delicious restaurant in Kyoto! I will definitely come back!

Recently, there is a trendy yakiniku restaurant in Sannomiya that frequently appears on social media. When I arrived at 5:30, those who came without a reservation at the same time were unable to get a seat as it was full. The order was placed by scanning the barcode on the table and sending it via mobile phone. We had a variety of dishes such as Namul platter, Kimchi platter (Japanese beef), Harami platter, Aburi sushi, and a secret menu (Temari sushi). The staff cooked the first piece for us and recommended trying it without sauce. Personally, I prefer a slightly milder taste, but the meat was well seasoned. Other meats were also flavorful enough without needing any sauce. The sushi was seared in front of us, and we could choose how well-done we wanted it. There was a soy sauce jelly on top, which melted and soaked in when torched with a burner. When I asked about the secret menu, the staff informed me that it is only available for lunch but kindly offered to make it for me with 4 pieces for a special price. They were attentive to questions about how to eat, ventilation, heat control, and even future customer visits. They saw us off at the exit and gave us a complimentary candy. Thank you for the meal.

Located in the middle of the quaint Pontocho district, this restaurant has a traditional Japanese townhouse facade that feels like stepping into another world. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by incredibly cheerful staff members. The second floor has spacious seating arrangements for a relaxed dining experience. Coats and jackets are taken and stored away for you. The lunch menu features the popular meat sushi called "niku no temari sushi," while dinner offers a reservation-only course menu. However, upon inquiry, I discovered a secret menu where you can order two sets of the meat sushi and receive three pieces each. Each set is beautifully arranged on a golden plate and then torched right in front of you. I opted for a medium-rare doneness, but due to the thin slices, I believe rare would have been even more delicious. The toppings were varied and enjoyable. Other dishes I tried include the seared premium beef sushi, a selection of four premium meats, the meticulously cooked beef tongue, the marbled beef tartare, and the melt-in-your-mouth harami yukke. The egg soup was rich and comforting, while the staff-created "TKG" with orange-colored eggs was a tasty treat. For dessert, I indulged in the Earl Grey creme brulee, which was made with the same orange eggs used in the TKG. It had a generous amount of vanilla beans and a delightful Earl Grey flavor. Overall, the standout dishes for me were the harami, the TKG, and the egg soup. The staff were friendly and attentive, and I was impressed by how meticulously they cleaned the neighboring tables. It was a delightful dining experience that I highly recommend.

Kyoto (Pontocho) / Kyoto Yakiniku en・en⁡I've always wanted to go to Yakiniku en・en but never had the chance until now! This time, I visited for dinner and here are some of my favorite dishes:⁡#Assorted 4 types of Wagyu beefYou can indulge in a luxurious comparison of different cuts of Wagyu beef. The Ichibo (ribeye) was especially delicious, I had to order more of it!⁡#Specialized Negi-TanThe staff will teach you the special way to grill this dish. As the name suggests, the taste is truly pursued to perfection!⁡#Beef Toro Wagyu seared sushiYou can have this gel-like sushi seared in front of you with a special soy sauce. I recommend ordering it rare!⁡#Egg SoupSurprisingly, I really enjoyed this dish! It was thick and creamy like a Tianjin rice, but the gentle flavor was very soothing.⁡#Secret Menu "Finale"Hidden in the menu is the Maruniku Sushi. You can choose your preferred level of doneness and enjoy this unique dish!⁡You can also enjoy the dishes with 3 types of sauces: - Washing sauce (goes well with the sauce) - Yakiniku sauce (versatile) - Grated ponzu sauce (goes well with salt)⁡For dessert, we shared the #Creamy Creme Brulee and the #Daily Brulee (Earl Grey on this day) for a comparison. The classic creamy one was rich and delicious, while the Earl Grey had a subtle sweetness that was just right. Both were charming in their own ways and I recommend trying both!⁡Finally, we had the #Yuzu Sorbet with peel. It had a refreshing sweetness, acidity, and a hint of bitterness from the peel, all in perfect balance for a delightful ending.⁡While I enjoyed various single dishes this time, they also offer an "en・en course menu"! Next time, I want to try their popular reservation-only lunch, the "Wagyu Temari Sushi" with plenty of contents to enjoy multiple times.⁡Kyoto Yakiniku en・enLocated at Nabe-cho 209-13, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, just a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station and Keihan Gion-Shijo Station.⁡#Yakiniku enen #Kyoto #Pontocho #KyotoGourmet #KyotoDinner #PontochoDinner #PontochoGourmet #PontochoYakiniku #KyotoYakiniku #retrip_gourmet #InstaGourmetAward2023
