We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed curry in a stunning setting. The curry was more focused on taste rather than appearance, and even without meat, it was satisfying and of high quality. The soda drinks were likely made with local soda, giving them a unique and refreshing taste. The plum soda we ordered was also delicious. If you have a car and don't mind a somewhat challenging drive, it's definitely worth a visit.

This is a cafe located in the back of a temple. I went there hoping to see cherry blossoms during the season, but there were no cherry blossom trees, just greenery. It was a bit chilly, but the abundant nature was nice. The roll cake had a thick and slightly dry sponge part. The whipped cream was not too sweet and had a refreshing taste.

I had the "Hon-Taki Medicinal Herb Curry with Fried Egg and Green Onions" at the cafe in the grounds of Hontaki Temple. The curry was spicy with a kick of spices, and the fried egg and green onions were sweet and delicious. The cafe has a counter seat with a great view, as well as table seats and an outdoor terrace.

"Hontaki Terasu Yakuzen Curry - ¥1,300
I went to "Hontaki Terasu" for the first time after its renewal for lunch during the Nosen Myokenzan ride. The yakuzen curry was easy to eat. The tea rice cooked with Uji tea was also interesting. 718 Nomanaka, Nosecho, Toyono District, Osaka Prefecture"

The café with a spectacular view at Myokenzan Motoyama-ji. At first, I thought I had taken the wrong road and almost turned back. However, we decided to climb a few stairs and found out that you can actually drive right up to the café. The temperature was completely different from down below, and I was too cold in just a long-sleeved shirt. They had blankets you could borrow to drape over your shoulders and knees, which was a nice service. We stopped by around 3:30 pm, but unfortunately, the popular whimsical landlady sweets desserts were already sold out. We had a hot coffee (500 yen) and cheesecake (450 yen) for teatime. It warmed us up. The coffee and cheesecake were just okay, but it might be worth it to experience something different during a drive.

I saw this place in a magazine and happened to pass by, so I decided to visit. When I arrived, the seats were full, so I had to wait for about 20 minutes before being seated. There were many customers coming in after us as well. The curry seemed to be popular, but since I had already eaten, I just ordered a coffee. It arrived in about 10 minutes, and enjoying it with a nice view made it taste even better.

After the renovation, I visited for the first time. This time, I parked in the parking lot and challenged the long stairs. Of course, there is also a parking lot next to the shop! I always used to park next to the shop, so I didn't notice, but I was wondering why it's called "Bike Temple"? It was written as "Bike Temple" (laughs). It was quite easy to climb the stairs, and when I passed a building, the shop appeared! Hon'taki herbal curry for 1250 yen, Hon'taki herbal curry with fried egg and onion for 1300 yen. Since I am with my dog, we always sit on the terrace, or rather in the temple seat. The view and the pleasant breeze are the hidden flavors of the curry! I thought the menu might have changed drastically due to the renovation, but the curry was still delicious and I enjoyed it!

The staff seemed to be in today even though it's a regular business day, but the service is still slow as usual. The curry is still delicious. However, the amount of fried onions has decreased. The pickles are even fewer. The presentation is nice. Overall, despite the renovation, nothing much has changed. The service operation is still poor. I wonder why the curry always takes so long. They are slow to take orders after being seated. Despite these shortcomings, I keep coming back because the curry warms my stomach and the taste is just to my liking. Keep up the good work!

The management has changed, and it seems that the restaurant on Tabelog is now treated as a different place. It's a pity, but at least the famous curry, while it looks similar, tastes completely different now. It used to be better than the spice curry in the streets of Osaka, so it's really disappointing. The curry roux has lost its dashi flavor and creaminess. It used to be creamier and richer. The rice is also not cooked well. It's either too watery or falling apart, making it mushy. It feels like they sacrificed the taste for cost-cutting, rather than not inheriting the recipe. I hope they can somehow bring back the old taste.

The curry itself has a normal taste, but the journey to this restaurant located in the mountains adds an extra spice. For those who want to eat curry in nature, it might be worth extending their trip to reach this place on the mountain top.

I enjoyed a relaxing cafe latte on the terrace while looking at a large ginkgo tree and mountains. It warmed up my cold body. I visited the temple and stopped by here, so next time I would like to try some rice or cake.

I followed the navigation as instructed, but it led me to a dead end at the temple. I thought the navigation was terrible, but it turned out there was a shop inside the temple. It was a bit chilly. It seems to be a gathering place for bikers.

The curry was delicious and suitable for both children and adults, unlike spiced curry. However, it was a bit lukewarm, both the curry and the rice.

Eating curry in nature with a canelé was delicious and amazing! The owner was very lovely and I want to come back to this restaurant again. The canelé was even more delicious than specialty shops!

"Hontaki Mountain Cafe" has been renovated! The location remains the same, but it has been beautifully refurbished. The name has also changed to "Nest"? which I found cute as it plays on the word terrace. The staff seems to have been renewed as well, with new uniforms and an overall change in atmosphere. The view is still outstanding, and the coffee is delicious. I forgot to take photos, but the herbal curry was still very tasty! However, something that caught my attention, which I also noticed last time, is the temple facilities on the way up to the cafe from the parking lot. It looks like a ruin, with the road being bumpy and more deteriorated than before. But once you reach the cafe, it sparkles and shines... It's quite mysterious how the temple looks neglected while the cafe is well-maintained. I have only seen the monk at the cafe, so I wonder if the temple is a hobby while the cafe and motorcycles are the main business. If the temple were made more beautiful and inviting, I believe cafe visitors would be more inclined to visit the temple as well. It's a shame that the atmosphere is affected by the neglected temple, especially with such a stunning view. It may not bother bikers who often pass through the ruin on their way up, but for those arriving by car, it might be a concern. Despite the ruin-like appearance, once you reach the top, there is a beautiful cafe waiting for you, so for those planning to visit, please be aware!
