Area: Fukuoka City Chuo Ward, Daimyo 2-11-15 - Just a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the subway! Located at the intersection of Showa-dori and Taisho-dori. Fukuoka City has over 600 "yakitori" restaurants, the highest number per capita in the 21 major cities nationwide! Especially the Hakata and Tenjin areas are highly competitive! Many of the restaurants have names inspired by warlords like "Ieyasu," "Nobunaga," and "Nobuhide." Interestingly, despite having different management entities, they all originated from one "yakitori" restaurant. The founding family, the "Oshima clan," opened "Sengoku Yakitori Ieyasu" in 1962, followed by "Tenka no Yakitori Nobunaga Honke" in 1964. "Tenka no Yakitori Nobuhide Honten" opened in the same year, with the head chef, who trained at "Ieyasu," opening his own restaurant. The first branch of "Sengoku Yakitori Ieyasu" has been in business for 61 years, but in 2016, "Sengoku Yakitori Ieyasu Co., Ltd." was acquired by "Alert Holdings Co., Ltd./Kurume City" through M&A. The current stores are located in the Tenjin area (5 stores), Hakata Station area (4 stores), Hara in Sawara Ward (1 store), Kurume (1 store), totaling 11 stores. The nostalgic sound of drums greets you as you enter, creating a Showa retro atmosphere where you can feel the emotions of Hakata. The interior offers counter seats and table seats for casual dining. The main customers are local office workers. All seats allow smoking, making it a convenient choice for smokers. We tried the popular menu items, including pork belly, chicken skin, chicken liver, gizzard, chicken thigh, meatball, chicken wing, shiso roll, asparagus wrap, kimchi pepper wrap, quail eggs, chicken tempura, cheese bacon, tomato, potato salad, and more. The standard yakitori like pork belly was perfectly grilled and delicious, especially when dipped in the "Ieyasu's secret lemon sauce." The vegetable wraps like shiso roll, asparagus wrap, and kimchi pepper wrap were particularly impressive. They are cut and served in a way that makes them easy to eat, with each skewer split into two pieces. The "kimchi pepper wrap" was especially tasty. This restaurant is highly recommended for those looking to enjoy delicious yakitori at a reasonable price in a casual setting. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the meal.
