I visited the cafe of the tea shop "Satsusen" near Nagao Station, which had opened across the street. The new store had a corner selling various tea leaves, and at the back right, there was a cafe. The cafe had a sweet shop atmosphere, with a small counter with 4 seats and two tables with 4 seats each. I chose a table seat as it was empty. There was a showcase with cakes like roll cakes, but there were only two types of cakes inside, and it seemed like they were either sold out or being made. When I opened the menu, there was only one item, the "Sweets Set." There was also a menu for soft-serve ice cream for takeout, but that was all there was for the cafe. I was a little disappointed as I had come expecting various matcha cafe menus. However, I regained my composure and ordered the valuable "Matcha Special" set for 680 yen, choosing from three types of tea "Gyokuro Karigane by Satsusen." It was a tea-focused set, so three cute-sized tea sweets were elegantly included. I put the "Karigane" from the small black tea canister into the white teapot, lowered the temperature to around 70°C with the teapot for cooling, and poured it into the white teapot. After about 2 minutes, I poured it into a teacup to enjoy. The yellow-green tea was slightly sweet, with a mellow and rounded taste and a hint of astringency. Truly, the tea from a tea shop is delicious, even though it is Gyokuro stem tea! The matcha chiffon and matcha bean paste wrapped tea sweets were delicious and paired well with the warm tea, while the matcha soft-serve ice cream had white soft-serve hidden underneath, providing a refreshing contrast. I had about three cups of tea from the pot, and although the roundness gradually faded, I could still enjoy the solid taste of the tea. As summer approaches, there may be more matcha menu items available, but I would like to revisit if the menu becomes more varied and fulfilling! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!
