Today's banquet was at Murase Honmachi Honten, a soba and fresh fish private room izakaya in Honmachi, Osaka. Although the new coronavirus is not completely eradicated, legally we have moved to level 5, so my workplace officially resumed drinking parties. Since it is a company-wide event, almost everyone participated. However, for the blog, I will just introduce the food photos. Here is the introduction: - Appetizers. - Salad and sashimi. The sashimi was delicious. - Chicken tsukune and cold fried vegetables. - Tempura. The shrimp was large. - Homemade fluffy rolled omelette. It was indeed fluffy. - Short-horned beef tataki. This was also quite delicious. - Echigo specialty! Master's hegi soba. Hegi soba is not very familiar in Kansai. It is soba kneaded with seaweed as a binder and served in a hegi container, hence the name. - Dessert. I believe it was hojicha ice cream. - Exterior of the restaurant. We had a cozy New Year's gathering for three people in a semi-private room-like seat. The dishes were all delicious! The taste was like homemade food, which is hard to find in chain izakayas. The horse sashimi and sweet potato tempura were especially good! The soba noodles at the end were also exquisite.

On weekdays, visited by reservation. Used for a year-end party with colleagues. It was convenient to be able to order by scanning the QR code. The food was generally average, nothing particularly delicious. There are few places in Kansai where you can eat soba as a finishing touch, so it may be good for those who want to eat soba. Smoking is allowed inside the restaurant, so colleagues who smoke were happy. I am not a fan of the smell of cigarettes, so by the time I left the restaurant, my clothes and hair were filled with the smell. This shop has a system where you scan a QR code provided by the shop to order using your own mobile phone. After pressing the call button a few times, the staff told us in a somewhat unfriendly manner to place the order using our own phone. Later, when I tried the green tea highball, I received a green tea soda instead. When I tried to call the staff to ask for a remake, no one came. It's disappointing, but I won't be visiting again.

Thank you for staying open late for us! It was a huge help! Due to the current situation, the menu was limited, but the infection control measures were well implemented. We chose from the limited menu options and the food was delicious! Once things return to normal, we will definitely come back! The tempura was amazing, beautifully presented. I went to Osaka to meet my friends. We talked about how we hope the coronavirus will end soon, and I was so grateful to be able to see them. We only met for a short time, but it was in a private room so we could relax. The area around here is like a business district not far from the station, perfect for salarymen. The restaurant serves traditional Niigata cuisine and creative dishes, all of which pair well with sake. They use seasonal ingredients subtly, which is nice. Even though they have reduced the menu due to COVID-19 precautions, we tried various dishes. The Tochio fried tofu from Niigata was delicious, with a light and fluffy texture and a great soybean flavor. The rapeseed greens ohitashi, yam kimchi, and yam tempura were all great sake accompaniments. The potato salad looked appetizing, and the horse sashimi was refreshing with no fishy taste. The cherry blossom meat was perfect for relieving fatigue, especially with grated ginger and garlic for a kick. The motsunabe had a clean soy sauce base and the chewy texture of the tripe was irresistible. We couldn't have champon noodles for the finale, so we had grilled rice balls instead. Despite the tough times for restaurants, this place showed great effort and was a wonderful dining experience.

If you want to drink with peace of mind during the coronavirus pandemic, a private room is the way to go. This is a restaurant that I was taken to by someone I was grateful to during my business trip in Osaka. It's located a little off the main street, but the atmosphere is great and it's easy to enter without feeling intimidated, and the reasonable prices are also a plus. The ambiance is not too high-end, so it was relaxing. We started with a toast with beer along with a rape blossom ohitashi appetizer. The beer was well-chilled, with a creamy foam and a smooth finish, indicating that the beer taps are well maintained. A restaurant that serves delicious draft beer automatically gains points. The appetizers were carefully prepared and delicious. The yam and kimchi combination was a perfect match, with the crunchy texture of the yam and the spiciness of the kimchi in good balance. The grilled ray fin, lightly seared and served with mayonnaise, was also a hit. I couldn't stop drinking the beer. The potato salad was another highlight, made with sweet yellowish potatoes that weren't too heavy, just like home-cooked food. We also tried several types of sake, but I particularly liked the Isomansaku for its rich flavor and good aroma. The tempura yam was served piping hot, and the thick and crispy fried tofu with leeks, drizzled with soy sauce, was addictive. The horse sashimi, fresh and vibrant in color, and the motsunabe with its firm texture and sweetness were also delicious. The crispy grilled rice ball was a satisfying way to finish off the meal. I was very satisfied with both the food and the selection of drinks. The friendly service from the staff was also great. I love restaurants like this. It's a place I would like to visit again when I'm in the area.

This is a restaurant in Osaka where you can enjoy Niigata sake and dishes. I was taken here after work, and I found the calm atmosphere and good service made it more relaxing than I had expected. There are private rooms where you can take off your shoes, which is nice to confirm when making a reservation depending on the occasion. Although it is an izakaya, all the dishes were delicious and they had a good selection of Japanese sake. The fresh sashimi paired well with the sake, and my friend who loves sashimi was very happy. We started with a toast with beer, and the appetizer of refreshing ohitashi was served promptly. The fresh seafood salad was generous with plenty of sashimi on a bed of sunny lettuce, which was delightful. The tempura was freshly fried and the shrimp was large and substantial with a crispy coating that was not greasy. Many places these days serve tempura with salt, but here they provide tempura dipping sauce with grated daikon radish and ginger. Personally, I like to eat tempura with tempura dipping sauce. We ordered a sashimi platter, which was well presented with thick slices. We enjoyed Niigata sake such as Kubota, Hakkaisan, Koshino Kanbai, as well as Aomori Hassen Pink Label. They were all sharp and easy to drink, complementing the dishes well. There were also large pieces of fried Torio and meat tofu in a sweet broth with a hint of chestnut-like flavor, providing a nice break between bites. For the finale, I recommend the Hegi soba. The cold soba, tightened with cold water, had a fragrant flavor of dried seaweed, and the smooth texture of the noodles felt good in the throat. Even if you are full, it goes down smoothly so you may want to choose a larger size. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I would like to visit again when I am nearby.

Washoku makes me feel relaxed. I was able to enjoy Niigata gourmet in a private room, which was a great way to unwind after work. On a tiring day, this kind of restaurant is perfect for refreshing. I had a great time here on a weekday evening in Honmachi with business partners. I started with a toast of Oolong Highball, and then looked at the menu which had a variety of sake options. I chose my snacks and thought that you can tell if a restaurant is good or not by the sashimi they serve, and this place definitely passed the test! Even though it's an izakaya, they must have a skilled chef in the kitchen. The beautifully carved vegetables and the sharp cuts of sashimi were impressive. The yellowtail with lemon was easy to eat and had a nice thickness, it was especially delicious. The seared mackerel had no fishy taste, was fatty, and had a perfect balance of seasoning. The sweetness of the shrimp was great, and the bitterness of the shrimp miso was amazing, of course it paired perfectly with the sake. I tried a few kinds of sake, but I particularly liked the Tan sake with its refreshing umami taste. Drinking sake from a glass tokkuri and ochoko is so elegant. Tempura is served with tempura dipping sauce, with a variety of ingredients like shrimp, shiso, eggplant, lotus root, bamboo shoot, and pumpkin. The crispy batter was just right, not too thick or thin, and balanced well with the ingredients. The Tochio fried tofu with plenty of green onions was juicy and delicious. The tofu in the mapo tofu had bamboo shoots in it. Lastly, I had Hegin soba. I was worried if I could eat more as I was already quite full, but the cold and flavorful soba was so good that I finished it all in no time. It was a fun time of eating and drinking. I chose a private room restaurant for my business trip in Osaka. It's located about 5 minutes from Honmachi Station and has a calm atmosphere. The cuisine includes Niigata's local dishes and fresh fish, which was well received by my friends who love sake. The Tochio fried dish, which spreads deliciously in your mouth, is unique to Niigata. The sashimi with ponzu sauce went well with the selected Koshino Kanbai sake, offering a refreshing flavor. We ordered a sashimi platter. One of my favorites was the crispy tempura assortment! The shrimp, with a satisfying size, had a nice crunch. The enoki mushroom tempura had a great aroma. The homemade tempura sauce, with grated daikon and ginger, was delightful and left a lingering deliciousness. The wagyu beef tataki is a must-try for meat lovers. The dashimaki tamago, with a rich broth, was a delightful treat for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts. We decided to finish with Hegasoba. It had a good texture and a smooth throat feel, and the dipping sauce was delicious without any sharp edges. Highly recommended for sake lovers. The staff were attentive and we could enjoy our drinks without any hesitation.

There are very few restaurants open on Sundays in Kitahama, Honmachi, and Sakaisuji area. We happened to pass by one that was open and decided to give it a try. It seemed like we were the only customers there. We ordered the recommended horse sashimi, priced at 1280 yen. The soy sauce for the sashimi was ordinary, and the sashimi itself was just okay. However, the other menu items were generous in portion size and satisfying. The beer served was Asahi, so we opted for Black Nikka highballs priced at a steep 530 yen. The highballs were good with a strong taste. We ended the meal with heki soba. This restaurant provides a good option for dining out on Sundays. If you go without being swayed by the recommended dishes, it's a good place to enjoy a casual izakaya experience.

I realized that they were open for lunch on that day. It had been a long time since I last visited, back when they had 5 rangers (now they have 6). The restaurant used to be "Crewel Honmachi" which I frequented for years. They seem to be doing well. The lunch menu has 3 options: Tempura set for 850 yen, Tonkatsu set for 1200 yen, and Chicken Nanban set for 850 yen. I ordered the tempura. The table seating near the entrance is bright and has a private room feel. The tempura arrived hot and crispy. It was delicious. The tempura included shrimp, pumpkin, eggplant, sweet potato, and white fish, all fried perfectly. The only downside was the rice, which was hard and dry, with clumps in it. It was too sticky. It seems that it's more worth visiting this place for dinner. There was a lovely female staff member wearing a mask. I wonder if that charming girl from last time is still there... The other day, I had delicious Japanese food here!! (^o^) I also had some tasty sake. It's about a 5-minute walk from Hommachi Station on the Midosuji Line, so it's easy to stop by after work!! I might want to come here on my day off with a slightly older man (^^) → I'm a single woman, haha ◉ Specialty sashimi platter with 6 varieties - wow!! The fresh and lively fish on the plate looks like it could start moving any moment. I'm happy to be able to eat sashimi in Osaka. ◉ "Inca Awakening" potato salad - The potatoes are moist and sweet, making the sake go down smoothly. Delicious! ◉ Tofu and highland tomato salad - Tomatoes and tofu go really well together!! Especially in this humid season, this refreshing salad is just perfect. ◉ Korean-style spicy pancake - The spicy gochujang sauce is a fantastic accent, and this chewy pancake is incredibly delicious. It's a taste that you can get addicted to. ◉ Rolled omelette with dashi - A warm dish with a fluffy texture that you want to savor slowly. It's a dish that makes you want to eat it every time you come to an izakaya. Delicious. And then, I felt like having some sake, so I ordered Nito and Isojiman. ◉ Nito (Ni to) is a junmai sake made with Yamada Nishiki rice, and I really liked its aroma. It goes perfectly with this kind of Japanese food. The cute rabbit illustration is also adorable. ◉ Isojiman - Wow!! A sake from Yaizu, passed down from Edo, this also goes down smoothly. It's a highly recommended place where you can relax and enjoy sake and food.

It's been a while since I had a meal in Honmachi. I visited "Murase," a restaurant located about 3 minutes east of Kitamido, where you can enjoy Echigo cuisine. The interior of the restaurant has many private rooms, allowing you to enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner without worrying about your surroundings. First, a toast with beer! The first dish is a colorful vegetable Cobb salad for 650 yen, and the volume was overwhelming. The Cobb salad with tofu is even healthier. The second dish is a sashimi platter with six varieties of fresh fish (per person) for 650 yen, and you get a generous amount of sashimi for the price. The third dish is the recommended menu for March, which is firefly squid with spicy vinegar miso for 680 yen. The firefly squid is in season, and the relatively large firefly squid is quite enjoyable. The fourth dish, also from the March recommended menu, is a tempura platter of spring vegetables for 980 yen, filled with vegetables that evoke the feeling of spring. The fifth dish is a Kumamoto specialty of selected raw horse meat sashimi for 1,280 yen, which also has a considerable volume. It's nice that there is as much lean meat as there is mane! The sixth dish, also from the March recommended menu, is namero of fresh fish for 680 yen, which goes perfectly with sake as I switched from sashimi to sake. The seventh dish, also from the March recommended menu, is fried bamboo shoots in dashi for 780 yen, as I wanted to eat a little more after having tempura! The eighth dish is the specialty dish from Nagaoka, Echigo, called Tochio fried tofu with green onions for 800 yen. I dipped plenty of green onions in soy sauce and had a bite. The ninth dish is the closing dish of Hegin soba, medium size (2-3 servings) for 1,880 yen, a Niigata specialty made with seaweed "funori" mixed with soba to create a unique texture. I also enjoyed a lot of sake to accompany the dishes! Niigata: Koshino Kagetora, Akita: Shiratakami, Yamagata: Kudo-ki, Miyagi: Hidahomare, Miyagi: Ichinokura. I am very satisfied.

Do you know about "hegisoba"? It is a type of soba noodles originating from the Uonuma region in Niigata Prefecture, served in a square-shaped dish called "hegi". The noodles are arranged in bite-sized portions, making them easy to eat. Doesn't it make you want to try it? In Kansai, you can enjoy "hegisoba" at a restaurant called "Murase" in Honmachi. Rather than being a dedicated hegisoba restaurant, it seems more like an izakaya where you can enjoy delicious fish from Echigo and a variety of sake. When you look at the menu, you'll see a selection of different types of sake, not only from Niigata but also from all over Japan. To start, I ordered a junmai sake from Miyagi called "Hidahomare" and a sashimi platter with six types of fresh fish: botan shrimp, amberjack, sea bream, mackerel, salmon, and chu-toro. The freshness is evident at first glance. And when paired with sake, each flavor becomes even more delicious. It's fun to enjoy such pairings. Let's explore different combinations of sake and dishes. The "Inca's Awakening Potato Salad" features potatoes as the star. The unique texture of the potatoes combined with the savory bacon creates a delightful dish. The "Today's Tempura Assortment" looks so beautiful that you might feel satisfied just by looking at it. From large prawns to seasonal vegetables like shiitake mushrooms, eggplant, enoki mushrooms, and sweet potatoes, it's a luxurious assortment. Be sure to enjoy them hot and crispy. The "Niigata-style Tonpeiyaki" originated during the war when a Japanese prisoner of war in Russia created a dish inspired by what the Russian soldiers were eating. When it made its way to Niigata, it included plenty of cabbage along with the pork. It is delicious. It's like a luxurious Western-style dish. And of course, to finish off, the "hegisoba". Served neatly in the "hegi" dish, it looks beautiful. Even after all the other dishes, you'll still have room for this. You can share or finish it all by yourself. Delicious fish, sake, and the finishing touch of hegisoba! Be sure to experience it.

On March 3rd, I visited the soba and fresh fish private room izakaya "Murase Honmachi Honten." The cozy and modern private rooms create a nice atmosphere! Cheers with my drinking buddies first☆ Super Dry draft beer for 480 yen. Proud of their market-fresh fish, we started with a sashimi platter of 6 varieties for 650 yen each for two people. From plump botan shrimp to bluefin tuna toro and akami, sea bream, yellowtail, and rich sea urchin - the freshness and quality of the selection were evident. A true masterpiece♪ Today's tempura assortment for 1,480 yen included vegetables like rapeseed flowers, maitake mushrooms, eggplant, and large shrimp tempura! Crispy and delicious. The famous Tochio deep-fried green onion miso for 880 yen was healthy but satisfying☆ Now onto Niigata - Echigo's famous local sake, Koshino Kage-tora Honjozo for 800 yen per cup and the exquisite Yoshinogawa Ginjo for 750 yen per cup. Enjoying the comparison of sakes♪ Grilled whole squid for 600 yen, bursting with the flavor of squid ink... Dashimaki tamago for 630 yen, hot off the grill with the savory broth oozing out☆ Refreshing freezing highball for 530 yen to finish off - even though our stomachs were quite full, we couldn't miss this!! Niigata's specialty hegi soba for 2-3 people for 1,880 yen. Named after the "hegi" (wooden frame) on which it is served, this soba uses nori seaweed as a binder, resulting in a strong and chewy texture that allows for the unique "hand-pulling" method of eating. This twisting knot hand-pulling method is a rare and labor-intensive process - the texture and flavor are top-notch♪ Fresh fish sashimi, freshly fried tempura, local sake, Tochio deep-fried green onion miso, and hegi soba! You can also enjoy Niigata local dishes at the Soba and Fresh Fish Private Room Izakaya Murasemotocho Main Store. The sashimi assortment for ¥650 (pictured is for 2 people) includes luxurious ingredients like fatty tuna, button shrimp, and sea urchin. The quality is great for the price! The tempura assortment is crispy and delicious, featuring large and plump prawns. The local dish from Niigata, Tochio-age, was thick and tasty, with green onion miso sandwiched inside. The rolled omelette was fluffy and delicious. The squid sashimi was fresh and perfect with Japanese sake. To finish off, we had delicious hegi soba, which was beautifully presented and had a great texture. Everything was delicious, and we ended up finishing everything despite thinking we might not be able to. It was a great meal with good food and drinks.

Kawachi, who loves to eat... I mean, like ramen lover Koike... (σ≧▽≦)σ So, what? If you're a gourmet like Kawachi, you must have heard of "Hegisoba," right? Tozen... (*¬д¬*) Huh!...? H-Hegisoba, right? Of course, I know about that! It's a type of soba made with cut noodles that originated in the Uonuma region of Niigata Prefecture. Oh, I see... (laughs) Let's go try it together then. Located northeast of Honmachi Station in a business district, this restaurant has a sophisticated exterior that hints at a mature atmosphere. It pairs well with both Japanese and Western cuisine. - Assorted Fresh Sashimi (6 types) 650 yen (excluding tax) Assorted sashimi including Spanish mackerel, salmon, medium fatty tuna, sea bream, yellowtail, and shrimp. The shrimp is incredibly sweet with a rich miso flavor. The other sashimi also features the perfect amount of fat and a firm texture, indicating their freshness. The thick cuts make it a great deal at 650 yen per serving. - Kumamoto Specialty Premium Horse Sashimi 1,280 yen (excluding tax) After fish, let's try horse meat... The lean meat is tender and juicy, bursting with meaty flavor. Unlike lower-grade lean meat that may require eating with the fat, this horse sashimi from Murase is delicious on its own. First of all, I was grateful that they accepted a solo customer even though it was a private room izakaya. From the appetizers to the sashimi and grilled dishes, everything was delicious!! It felt like they put effort into their preparation, and while the flavors weren't strong, the umami was well brought out! The variety of sake was quite pleasing, although the first frozen highball was not good. However, the pricing was a bit on the high side. The most disappointing part was that the last order was about an hour earlier than the stated time... Because of that, I couldn't enjoy my drink at a leisurely pace or even have the soba I wanted. Well, even though by 9 pm most of the other customers had left, it felt like they were cutting it too close by an hour. The only positive in terms of service was that they prepared a single serving of sashimi instead of the usual two servings.
