Every year, I have a routine health check-up. This time, the results were the worst I've ever had. I was already suffering from depression with noticeable symptoms, so my various numbers were showing abnormalities. After the health check-up, it was time for lunch. Well, more like breakfast. Or maybe brunch. Normally, I would go to a place called "Waraku," but it ended too early and wasn't open yet. So, I decided to go to a nice place a little further away towards Hommachi Station. I ended up at Udon Kyutaro. They open from 7 a.m. and are known for serving incredibly delicious udon that everyone raves about. It's a popular spot that is frequently featured on TV and in magazines. I had been wanting to go there for a while. I must admit, I passed by the restaurant about three times before actually going in. The super popular restaurant was quiet by around 9:30 a.m., with only one other group of customers. The menu looked like this: [link provided]. The prices mentioned are from my visit, so they may have changed. You have to prepare your tray and choose your tempura, which are all priced at 100 yen each. Quite a deal, right? I decided on one tempura, the Gyoza Eggplant for 100 yen. And then, my udon arrived, the ABURI (cold) for 850 yen. The bowl was topped with simmered chicken thigh and seared pork belly, both from Miyazaki brand pork. Let's dig in... Oh no... I messed up... Well, these things happen, right? The noodles had a nice saltiness and a great chewy texture, which was satisfying on its own. As recommended on the menu, I added some soy sauce for extra flavor. The pork had a delicious sweetness and umami without being too heavy. The Gyoza Eggplant was fresh and incredibly tasty! It had a crispy texture that didn't taste like it was fried in advance. I bet it would be even better dipped in the broth. I felt like having it with some sake from Kagawa, but I was still at work and had to drive, so I shed a tear instead. The quality of everything besides the udon was also top-notch. With this kind of quality, it's no wonder this place is so popular. Well, I must say, I was impressed. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I came here with excitement to see if they were still offering it haha. For a limited time only, they are using a brand of figs called "Hazamaichi" produced in the Hazama area of Mannou-cho, Kagawa Prefecture. These figs are grown without pesticides and have an astonishing sugar content of over 20 degrees! They are extremely rare, accounting for only 1% of the national harvest. The figs have a rich sweetness, and even the skin is delicious. The balance with the saltiness of the broth is superb. The refreshing yuzu citrus and mint add a nice touch. I've been going to Tennoji's "Tenogokoro" every year, and after being shocked by their fig udon a few years ago, I'm glad to see more places offering it recently. It seems to be a short-term offering, so be sure to try it soon! Instagram → @masayan.310

There were a lot of posts about this restaurant yesterday, it seems popular. I decided to try it for lunch on a weekday. I arrived around 12:10, expecting a long wait, but surprisingly I was able to enter without waiting as there were only 2 people ahead of me. It must have been the perfect timing when earlier lunch customers were leaving. However, by the time I left after 12, there were already more than 10 people waiting in line. It was my first time, so I ordered the popular seared cold udon and added squid tempura for 100 yen, totaling 950 yen. I placed my order and paid first, then was seated and soon my udon was served. The udon was softer than I expected with a good chewiness, making it easy to eat. Just adding a little soy sauce to the udon brought out the sweetness of the wheat, making it delicious. I felt like I could have enjoyed it even without the pork and squid tempura. The pork was also tasty when eaten with yuzu pepper. The way of eating and the flavors were fresh. The restaurant has a small space with tables in the center where customers stand and eat facing each other, it's not a place to eat calmly. The 100 yen tempura was appreciated, but I thought the udon itself could have been a bit cheaper.

The intended restaurant, Chitose, was temporarily closed. I arrived after a leisurely walk of about 2 kilometers at 10:28 am. There were no customers before me. I could hear the sound of udon being made inside the shop. The shop opened at 11 am. There were 7 people waiting in line, including myself, at the opening. The shop is standing style. I ordered the ABURI udon for 850 yen, which comes with a choice of soy sauce and either hot or cold. This time, I chose cold udon with soy sauce. The udon had a perfect balance of firmness, chewiness, and smoothness. The firmness of the noodles was unlike anything I had tried before. The gentle flavor of the soy sauce from Kagawa prefecture paired perfectly with the udon, making me want to have seconds. The crispy grilled pork matched surprisingly well with the udon. You order by looking at the menu posted on the wall at the back of the shop. After paying, they bring the udon to your table. You can leave your bowl on the table after finishing. Since it was my first time and I was at the front of the line, I was unsure how to order. Soy sauce and condiments are available at the table. They also provide water, chopsticks, and wet wipes on a tray, but there are items on the table as well, so first-time visitors may want to take note.

I visited for the first time around 2 o'clock on a weekday to avoid the crowds. I accidentally entered the neighboring apparel shop at the entrance, so first-time visitors need to be careful ⚠️ Warning ⚠️ I ordered the popular seared pork cold noodles with soy sauce sprinkled twice, and it was delicious. The seared pork and yuzu pepper were exquisite. However, when I took a bite of the noodles, it was different from what I expected. I thought they would be more chewy, but they were surprisingly normal. They were tasty, but the texture was not what I anticipated. Maybe I prefer Abukuma's cold udon after all.

Last time, Kyutaro ordered ABURI, which is a "udon without broth," and this time he ordered "niku sudachi," a "udon with broth." There were various seasonal tempura options, such as chicken and shiitake mushrooms. The noodles were not extremely chewy but had a nice wheat aroma and texture. We arrived around 12:40 and didn't have to wait long to be seated. The menu changes occasionally, offering a wide variety of options, making it enjoyable to visit frequently. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant that I had been wanting to check out for a while. It was a Saturday morning around 9 o'clock, and the place was almost full with 8 customers already seated and 8 customers waiting in line. Upon entering the restaurant, I was guided to the counter at the back to place my order. The counter displayed various tempura options, and I chose the "ABURI (soy sauce, cold)" for 850 yen. The restaurant has a standing style with 10 counter seats. The dish was served in less than 3 minutes. When served, the staff announced to me to rotate the soy sauce 1.5 times and to enjoy the yuzu pepper while eating. The udon noodles were chewy and smooth, with a nice texture. The toppings included two slices of seared pork belly and one slice of boiled pork thigh. The seared pork belly had a delicious smoky flavor, while the boiled pork thigh was juicy and tender. I started by eating with soy sauce and yuzu pepper, then added green onions and tempura flakes halfway through. The dish was finished in no time. It was clear that the restaurant was popular, with a constant flow of customers even at that early hour. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant around 9 am on Saturday and tried the most popular ABURI, chicken tempura, and squid tempura. The udon noodles had a strong texture and a smooth feel, completely different from the Sanuki udon I've had before, and it was surprisingly delicious. In the future, whenever I go to Osaka, I plan to skip breakfast at the hotel and come here instead.

The price is a little over 900 yen, but it's worth it! The taste is excellent. They recommend adding soy sauce twice. The sweetness of the soy sauce and the noodles are perfectly balanced! The meat is juicy and delicious. There are many menu options, so I want to try the sudachi udon next time!

Udon Kyutaro in Honmachi is a famous shop known for its Sanuki udon. The shop's appearance may cause you to overlook it, but inside, there are only 10 counter seats packed tightly. Customers are quick to eat and leave, so the turnover is fast. The udon and broth are delicious, although some may not like the green onions. The taste of the udon and broth is on a different level compared to other shops. Be sure to pay attention to the opening hours and go before they sell out.

On Friday morning, before the direct hit of a typhoon, I cut short my business trip in Osaka and visited Udon Kyutaro, a famous udon restaurant in Osaka city Honmachi, which opens at 7 am. I watched a morning drama about E-chan's entrepreneurship at the hotel before checking out and heading to the restaurant. The hotel was located right in the middle of Shinsaibashi, and Honmachi was just one stop away on the Midosuji Line, so I walked for about 15 minutes with my bag to satisfy my hunger. When I arrived at the restaurant around 8 am, I was surprised to find no long line, and it took me a while to notice the narrow entrance and enter. I decided on my order by looking at the menu photos outside and the menu photos at the back of the restaurant. Due to a major change in plans caused by the typhoon, I ordered the Typhoon udon for 900 yen. It's a typical Sanuki udon style where you take the tempura at the front and pay at the counter. The price was about double, haha. After waiting for about 5 minutes, it seemed like the noodles had just finished boiling. The dish had a strong ethnic taste, with toppings like cilantro, kabosu, pork belly, herb seeds, and an orange line of chili oil on the side. Now, for the taste test. The soup had a strong and wild flavor of dried bonito, which was delicious. There was a slight bitterness that bothered me a bit, but it was within my liking. As for the udon itself, it was beautifully clear and translucent even when viewed from above. The texture was chewy and typical of Sanuki udon, which was delicious. Towards the end, I squeezed some kabosu for a refreshing change and it became even more delicious. Thank you for the meal. As I finished eating, I noticed they had a menu for soup refills. It was a bit of a ordering mistake on my part, but so far, it seems that eating Typhoon udon just before hitting Nagoya may have some effectiveness in warding off the typhoon.

Visited the udon restaurant "Udon Kyutaro" near the company for the first time. Despite being a popular spot, there was only a short wait of 3 people around 12:40. Upon entering, we were directed to move towards the back, where we could help ourselves to chopsticks, a hand towel, water, and choose from about 8 types of tempura (although it's optional). The system is to pick your favorite tempura and then choose your preferred udon. The wall next to where you pick up your tray has photos and explanations of the menu. I had planned to try the udon with the delicious broth from the popular nearby restaurant "Shigemi," but the impactful "ABURI" with seared pork belly caught my eye, so I ordered it cold with soy sauce. After paying, a female staff member guided us to our standing spot to eat. The udon arrived shortly after, looking shiny and promising a great texture. It was topped with three slices of seared pork belly and regular pork belly, with yuzu pepper on top. We were instructed to pour soy sauce around 1.5 to 2 times around the bowl, and then it was time to eat. The udon wasn't as chewy as expected, but the scent of wheat was appetizing, and it went down smoothly with the soy sauce. We also tried the tempura we picked up, lightly sprinkled with salt, and enjoyed the combination of udon, pork belly, and tempura. It was a delightful experience. Seeing someone next to us enjoying a clear broth with just udon made us want to try that next time. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

This place is located about a 5-minute walk from Osaka Metro Honmachi Station. I went around 1:30 pm and was lucky enough to get in without waiting in line! I ordered the ABURI ramen with a couple of rounds of soy sauce. The noodles were chewy and soft, and the seared chashu pork was delicious.

Udon that you can eat without getting tired no matter how many times you repeat. It's always crowded at lunchtime, but the fast turnover is also a good point. I always end up ordering the warm egg and meat udon, so I want to challenge a different menu once in a while. I will visit again.

I used the morning time♪ When I went around 8:30 am on a weekday, the place was 80% full but I was able to get a seat. There were 2 groups of tourists from overseas who seemed unsure about what to order. The rest of the customers were all solo diners, so it's easy for even women dining alone to get a seat. Since it's a standing restaurant, the turnover rate is high, and by the time I finished eating, it was empty. I ordered the ABURI cold udon for 850 yen, and I asked for a small portion which was 50 yen off, so it was 800 yen. I also added Okan's croquette, chikuwa tempura, and eggplant tempura, all priced at 100 yen each. The grilled meat was delicious, and the yuzu kosho added a nice touch as mentioned in the menu! They told me to pour about 1.5 rounds of soy sauce on the udon, but I added more a few times. Personally, I prefer udon with a firmer and chewier texture for cold udon, so it wasn't the best I've had, but there was something about the overall experience that made me want to come back to the restaurant. It's hard to explain this feeling. Mysterious. In conclusion, it was delicious. The service was also polite, and they tried their best to accommodate the customers who came from overseas. It was nice to hear the sound of the chefs cutting the noodles and making them. I'm curious about the monthly limited edition udon. Thank you for the meal!

Second visit. Last time, it was too hot so I had cold udon, but this time I ordered my favorite warm kake udon. It has a gentle flavor with a strong dashi taste and soft noodles. Of course, it's delicious. It's not Kansai style, but the type of Sanuki udon you would find at a delicious shop in Kagawa prefecture. It's like real udon.

I arrived at the restaurant shortly before it opened and entered as the second customer. As soon as it opened, the place quickly filled up. It was my first visit, and I was overwhelmed by the delicious-looking menu options. I ended up ordering the ABURI with two types of meat, several varieties of tempura, and onigiri. The udon noodles were firm and tasty. I tried kombu tempura for the first time, and it was also delicious. The only downside was that as a larger person, I found the narrow space in the restaurant uncomfortable for standing and eating. I'm not sure if there will be any available seating, but if I happen to pass by when there is, I will definitely visit again.

------------------------ ◻️ Shop Name: #udonkyutaro ◻️ Location: 6 minutes walk from Honmachi Station ------------------------ ◻️ Review: This Osaka udon shop is a must-visit, with long lines during morning and lunch hours. I arrived right after opening on a Monday around 11:05 am and managed to snag the last seat. I ordered their recommended dish, Afuri Udon, which comes with thin slices of pork belly. The pork belly was incredibly delicious, juicy, and flavorful. The noodles were slightly flat but had a chewy texture. I topped them with fried tempura flakes, green onions, and ginger, and poured soy sauce over them. It's no wonder there's always a line here - the udon was truly delicious. Additionally, all fried items are priced at only 100 yen each, making it a great deal. Curry Udon 850 yen Chicken Tempura 100 yen A stylish and clean standing udon shop. The curry udon is visually interesting, with curry poured on top of the broth. It doesn't taste exactly like the curry udon you might imagine, but you can definitely feel the spiciness of the spices. You can also eat just the broth, and you can change the taste with red pepper, so you won't get tired of it until the end!

I visited a standing udon shop in the office district of Honcho, which was selected as one of the top 100 shops in 2022. I went on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 pm and there were about 2 groups of customers before me and 3 groups after me, showing that it is a popular udon shop. I ordered the limited-time "Niku Q" for 950 yen with an additional topping of chicken tempura. The udon was served to me within 5 minutes of standing at my seat. The toppings included cucumber, chili pepper, salted kelp, myoga (Japanese ginger), lemon, thinly sliced beef, and sesame. I poured the homemade dashi soy sauce over it and mixed it well. The dashi soy sauce coated the udon nicely, and the combination of cucumber and beef was excellent. The aroma of sesame and lemon lingered in the mouth, creating a well-balanced flavor overall. The chicken tempura was made with thinly battered chicken breast, which was a bit disappointing as it seemed to be pre-made, but it was still delicious.
