On Friday at 1:00 PM, I visited Takeuchi Udon in Naka, which is always crowded on Saturdays, so I aimed for a weekday visit. There were 9 people in line that day. This area is dominated by the popular Takeuchi Udon and Mugi to MenSuke. This shop was ranked first in the "Udon Battle Zone General Election" of the "Magic Restaurant". I entered the shop after a 12-minute wait, which was faster than I expected. I ordered the "Chicken Tempura Bukkake (Cold)" for 980 yen. It arrived in 4 minutes. One bite and it was delicious! The noodles had a very strong elasticity and a chewy texture. The portion size was double that of a regular udon shop. It must have been around 500g. The bukkake sauce was dark in color but not as strong in flavor as it looked, with a solid dashi taste. I could drink it all up till the end. The chicken tempura was quite large pieces of thigh meat, with 5 pieces on top. Recently, I've seen more breast meat tempura, so it was nice to have tasty thigh meat tempura after a while. It's no wonder it's ranked first. Personally, among the popular udon shops I've visited recently, this one stood out. I'd like to try the hot meat udon next time. When I left, there were about 10 people waiting in line. Impressive. Thank you for the meal.

This is a popular udon restaurant that is a regular at the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog, with long lines forming. It is located a few minutes' walk from Nakatsu subway station, near ramen restaurant Yashichi and Mugi to Men Suke. I arrived for lunch on a weekday at 11:15 am, 15 minutes before opening, and there was already a line of over 15 people. I ordered the Toriten Bukkake for 980 yen. You can add extra noodles for 250 yen, but it seems like it's over 1 kilogram. The regular portion is already around 500g. The noodles are not the thick and chewy Sanuki udon, but rather soft and slippery with a unique taste. It's like a cross between Osaka udon and Sanuki udon, making it hard to describe. The Toriten is made with juicy and crispy chicken thigh meat, possibly the best I've ever had. I enjoyed it until the end, even squeezing lemon on it. The turnover seems fast, so despite the long line, you should be able to get in quickly. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I visited "Takeuchi Udon" restaurant. It is located about a 4-5 minute walk from Osaka Metro Nakatsu Station. This time, I had the lunch set "Toriten Bukkake Set" and upgraded to a tuna bowl for an additional 200 yen. The udon had a chewy texture and a good firmness. The Toriten was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and tasted delicious on its own or dipped in the broth. The broth, although dark in color, wasn't too soy sauce-heavy and paired well with the udon and Toriten. The tuna bowl was also tasty. It was a satisfying and delicious udon meal. Thank you for the meal!

I arrived just before opening on Saturday, but managed to get in on the first round. After that, there was a line but the turnover was fast, so it seemed like you wouldn't have to wait too long to get in. I had the maiko mushroom tempura udon with raw soy sauce, and my companion had the chicken tempura bukkake udon. Everything was excellent.

I arrived at the restaurant around 11:15 on a weekday and was second in line. By the opening time of 11:30, there were about 15 people waiting in line. The restaurant had around 12 seats at the counter and about 4 seats at wall-facing tables for two. After opening, I sat down and placed my order. I ordered the tempura chicken udon set, and it was served within 1-2 minutes. Most people seemed to order the tempura chicken udon, so it was served quickly. It had been a while since I last had it, and I was impressed by the chewiness of the udon noodles. The portion size was quite large, so honestly, the tuna bowl was unnecessary. The taste of the tuna bowl was just average.

Today was a rare exploration day, and I wanted to visit a sweets shop in the Nakatsu area for lunch. I picked a few shops in preparation, but had trouble finding their locations. I ended up not making it in time for the first shop I wanted to visit, so I stopped by this place instead. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the planned dish of fried chicken and shiitake mushroom on rice, so I settled for fried chicken on noodles. The dish was served promptly, with a generous portion of fried chicken and noodles. The noodles were smooth and silky, with a chewy and elegant texture. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside, which was very impressive. The broth was just the right thickness, and I couldn't help but exclaim how delicious it was in my mind. I even overheard a couple sitting next to me, and the boyfriend said to his girlfriend, "Isn't it delicious?" and I silently agreed with him. I wish I could have told them how much I agreed with them! Overall, it was a truly delicious meal, and I felt very satisfied with both the taste and portion size. Thank you for the wonderful meal! ⭐️

I decided to end this night by going to Takeuchi Udon, one of the top Kansai Udon restaurants in Osaka, just before 8pm. It is located a 5-minute walk from Nakatsu Station, north of Umeda, on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. Reviews had mentioned that there might be a line even at night, but I was promptly seated at the counter in a corner near the entrance. I was torn between ordering the Tempura Udon and the Chicken Curry Udon, but ended up ordering the Curry Udon for 1,000 yen. I followed the order of what seemed to be a regular customer sitting on my left. After about 15 minutes of waiting for the noodles to cook, they were served. Since it was Curry Udon, I slowly lifted the noodles and savored them. The noodles were chewy and had a slight spice to them, which paired well with the curry. The Chicken Tempura, with three pieces, was juicy and delicious even when eaten on its own, but dipping it in the curry made it even better. I enjoyed alternating between the Chicken Tempura, Udon, Curry, and back to the Chicken Tempura. After finishing my meal, I realized that the beautiful white noodles were no longer visible, so I should have ordered it as bukkake (without soup) instead.

The udon was delicious, but the attitude of the staff was terrible. When I entered the restaurant, there were no other customers waiting in line, but the staff still told me to wait until called. Inside, there was a man sitting alone at a 3-person counter, but the staff didn't suggest he move so my friend and I could sit together. The restaurant had strict rules, like no taking photos of customers. After waiting for over 10 minutes, we finally got in and found out the lunch special tuna bowl was sold out. I ordered two large udon, and the staff questioned if I could finish the noodles. The udon was tasty, with delicious tempura options, but the service left much to be desired. I declined the offer to clear our bowls before we were finished. Overall, the udon was good, but I doubt I'll be returning to this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the "Shrimp and Mushroom Tempura Udon" for 1,000 yen around 7:30 pm on a weekday. I almost missed the restaurant because the sign was unclear. The door seemed to be fully open, but the entrance was on the right side. The restaurant was full, so I had to wait outside for a bit. Eventually, I was shown to a seat. I placed my order verbally and soon the food arrived. The noodles had a great texture and the tempura was slightly crispy, which I personally liked. I finished my meal quickly and paid cash at my table. The background music in the restaurant included songs by John Lennon, Tom Petty, Huey Lewis & The News, Tom Jones, and more.

This is a udon restaurant in Nakatsu. There are also Mugito, Menosuke, and Yashichi nearby. I arrived at 8 pm and there were about 6 people waiting in line, and the line was still growing... Truly a popular place with a lively atmosphere, with many young customers. I thought the way the staff handled customers was not very efficient, but that's just between us. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the tempura udon. Looking around the restaurant, it seems that even popular places attract some rude customers, as I noticed several warning signs. About 10 minutes later, the tempura udon arrived. The udon was shiny with 5 pieces of tempura on top. The portion was so generous that I wondered if I accidentally ordered the large size. The garnishes, grated daikon radish and ginger, were plentiful. And all of this for only 980 yen! The udon was not as salty as it looked, with the umami of the broth standing out more than the soy sauce. The udon had a soft yet chewy texture, which was delicious. The tempura had a well-seasoned soy sauce flavor, juicy, and full of meat juices, very satisfying. When dipped in the broth, the flavor became richer with the addition of the broth's umami, chicken juices, and the oil from the tempura batter, creating a more addictive taste. It's no wonder this place is popular among young people. The satisfaction from just one bowl is incredibly high, and the fact that it's under 1000 yen is truly amazing. It's definitely worth waiting in line for this bowl.

Second round of Osaka udon restaurant showdown (decided to continue attacking udon restaurants for a while), this time at a famous spot. Arrived just after 11:30 am on a weekday. The heat that had eased up for a bit came back, and even the 5-minute walk from Nakanoshima station made me sweat. But finally, I arrived at the restaurant, known for its delicious udon. Upon arrival, there were 6 people waiting in line, but looking inside, there were some empty seats scattered around. It seemed like they weren't seating everyone at once. Waited for about 10 minutes and then got seated. I had decided on the chicken tempura bukkake udon for 980 yen, but I hesitated about getting the rice set for 1050 yen. However, based on past reviews mentioning that the udon portion is 500 grams, I was worried about finishing it, so I opted for just the udon. The order came out quickly. The udon lived up to its reputation - smooth texture, chewy, and easy to eat. The chicken tempura came with about 5 pieces, which was more than enough. I lost count of how many pieces I ate while enjoying it. Surprisingly, I had no trouble finishing it, but I was worried if I would get sleepy for work in the afternoon. I'd like to try the squid tempura udon next time.

Udon West, a famous udon restaurant, is popular for its Toriten Bukkake Udon. We arrived on a weekday night around 8 pm and luckily there was no line. However, people started lining up after us. I ordered the Warm Tamago Wakame Bukkake for 950 yen, and my companion ordered the Toriten Shoyu Udon for 980 yen. The noodles were smooth and had a good texture. The level of smoothness in the noodles was top-notch, and the flavor was amazing. I was so impressed by the delicious taste. It was worth coming to Osaka for this udon. Oh, and the drinks are served in cans, which was a nice touch. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered a 1kg serving of squid and mushroom tempura udon with soy sauce at this restaurant that I visited again after becoming a fan last time. The regular size is 500g, and the large size is a whopping 1kg. When asked if I could finish it, I confidently said yes, as I love noodles. And indeed, I finished it easily. The noodles were chewy and delicious, and the squid tempura and mushroom tempura were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The squid tempura was the best I've ever had, with a perfect balance of texture. I wish they offered a medium size of 750g. Overall, it was a great meal, and I look forward to coming back for the squid and mushroom tempura udon again.

I visited the restaurant around 7 pm on Friday and was able to enter without waiting in line, which is unusual as it is usually crowded during lunchtime. This udon restaurant in Osaka is one of my favorites. The noodles are moist with a good chewiness, not too firm, and have a great elasticity, making them very delicious. I ordered the curry udon, which is only available at night, and it came with three pieces of tempura chicken. The portion was just right for me. Although the curry udon was tasty, I still think the bukkake or shoyu udon really bring out the goodness of the noodles. The bukkake udon with tempura chicken is a specialty and very delicious, but the portion is quite large with 500g of noodles and 5 pieces of tempura chicken.

I ordered the "toriten bukkake" udon. I'm not very knowledgeable about udon, but when I slurped a mouthful of noodles, I was surprised by the fragrant wheat flavor that spread out. The noodles had a chewy texture, often referred to as the "gummy type." It was my first time trying it, but I found the texture to be pleasant and very delicious. The person next to me ordered the toriten on a separate plate, and I think I'll do the same next time (^^)

The tempura chicken udon with generous portions was delicious. The chewy noodles paired perfectly with the crispy tempura chicken. My companion had the seaweed udon, which had unusually large pieces of seaweed. We went around 7:30 pm on a weekday and only had to wait about 15 minutes. Will definitely go back.

I visited Takeuchi Udon for the first time in a decade. It was around 12pm on a weekday and there were about 15 people in line. I ordered the Chicken Tempura Udon for ¥980. The noodles were of a standard thickness, and when I took my first bite, they were soft and slurp-worthy. As I chewed, I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected elasticity of the noodles. Delicious. Just delicious. The chicken tempura was also a perfect size and juicy. And all of this for under ¥1000 is fantastic. This is a udon that you must try when in Osaka. It was a moment of happiness.

I went to Takeuchi Udon for the first time in a while, and there was already a line of about one lap before the opening. Luckily, I managed to get in on the first round. Since it was a holiday, there were a lot of families. I ordered the classic tempura udon, which I had written in my past reviews as having a fluffy tempura, but it actually had a crispy coating and fluffy chicken. The portion was large, and I was full quickly, but I managed to finish it all. I would be happy if they had a mini size option.

I visited for the Shimme Udon. I have eaten various udon dishes mainly in Kagawa, but this was the first time I encountered such a large portion. The noodles were very delicious, and it truly lived up to its reputation as a popular restaurant. Although there are many delicious udon shops in Osaka, I would definitely like to visit again. :)

The restaurant is famous among people working nearby, with salarymen forming long lines. Everyone orders the "toriten bukkake," and I decided to try it too. The price is quite high, but that's because of the portion size. The regular size is 500g, and the large size is 1kg! Some say that a certain famous udon chain offers regular size 260g, large size 390g, and extra-large size 520g, so the regular size here is like eating the extra-large size at that udon chain. It may be a challenging amount for women, but the taste is exquisite! The noodles are soft with a chewy texture, different from Sanuki udon. The broth, likely made from bonito, pairs well with the noodles. The toriten comes in 5 pieces, adding a flavorful touch. I have actually had something similar to this udon in Kyoto before. As someone who loves that particular shop, encountering this udon felt like meeting long-lost siblings. (I don't actually have any long-lost siblings, just kidding.) I'm not sure if there's a connection between the two shops, but one thing is certain – it's delicious. You should definitely give it a try!

It's been hot lately, so I felt like having some refreshing udon noodles! I decided to try out this place that has been getting good reviews (*´∀`*) I arrived around 12 pm on a weekday, prepared to wait in line since it's a popular spot. There were 4 people waiting outside when I got there, and more people kept coming. But the udon was served quickly and the turnover rate was fast, so the wait wasn't too long. After about 10 minutes, I got seated! I ordered the popular Toriten Bukkake (cold) udon for ¥980. The portion was generous with 5 freshly fried pieces of Toriten! The noodles were smooth and had a nice texture. The soup was delicious and not too heavy. It was really satisfying! I noticed some regulars asked for the Toriten to be served on a separate plate. The service was quick and efficient! The place was filled with mostly women, so it felt welcoming and safe. When I left, there were about 10 people waiting outside. Despite the heat, it was worth lining up for this delicious bowl of udon (^。^) It was a great meal!
