Visited in February 2022. I hadn't used "Kaldi Coffee Farm" much before because I thought it was a fancy coffee bean specialty store, but they have a wide variety of imported food items in addition to coffee beans, which makes it fun just to look around. The imported food items are a bit pricey, but Kaldi's private brand products are quite affordable. This time, I decided to try something new and purchased the following:
- Biang Biang Noodles (Sichuan Pepper Oyster Sauce Flavor) 449 yen tax included
This is a set of Biang Biang noodles and sauce for two people, a private brand product from Kaldi with Chinese cuisine ingredients. The sauce is flavored with Sichuan pepper, so I decided to make my own meat miso to enjoy it. First, I stir-fried ground pork and green onions with sesame oil and doubanjiang, then added sweet bean sauce, sugar, sake, mirin, etc. to make the meat miso. Since I like Sichuan pepper, I added a lot of it to create a Sichuan-style meat miso. The Biang Biang noodles only take about 10 minutes to boil, and once cooked, I drained them without rinsing and placed them in a bowl. Then I mixed in the provided sauce, topped it with greens and the meat miso I made. Now it's ready to eat! I'll enjoy it with ice-cold beer (*´人`*)
The wide Biang Biang noodles have a chewy texture with a good bite. The sauce with Sichuan pepper has a wonderful aroma! When mixed with my homemade meat miso, it offers a rich and delicious flavor. I didn't have bok choy, so I used choy sum instead, which also had a unique aroma that complemented the dish well. I have purchased Kaldi's private brand food items before, such as Shanghai fried noodles and pasta sauce, and they are surprisingly high quality! Moreover, Biang Biang noodles are not commonly found in Chinese restaurants, so it's great to have such convenient food available. I ended up buying two more bags after this ( ´艸`)プププ If you haven't tried Biang Biang noodles yet, I highly recommend it! Enjoy your meal.
