This is my third time visiting the Outlet Kitakyushu. Gokumiyama is still crowded today. I've noticed that the popularity of the outlet has calmed down a bit, so maybe it's fine to visit even after some time has passed. It's not a problem for me to wait, so as long as I come with plenty of time before closing, it should be fine, but I always end up coming at the last minute (;´∀`) So, with two customers waiting next to Gokumiyama, I decided to try the spicy noodles that I haven't eaten in a while and haven't visited before. I used to really like Mazumoto because someone I used to date took me to places like Numa and Wakamatsu quite frequently, but since we parted ways, I've only been eating spicy noodles from other similar restaurants. Most of them are not easily accessible from where I live, and since I found that the spicy noodles at Hachiryu in Konnomachi were really good, I've been going there instead. So today, I decided to try something new and went for the tomato spicy noodles that I had heard were delicious. I also decided to try the konnyaku noodles for the first time. Since I rarely come here, I usually choose the safe option or the usual one, so I thought I'd take a chance today. This place is conveniently located right by the station, and I have regular business at the outlet, so it's easy for me to come here, which is why I decided to try something new. I was advised that "If you're having tomato noodles, you must have the cheese risotto!" so I ordered the rice and cheese set (+350 yen). ● Tomato Spicy Noodles Level 3 Spicy, Ladies Size (Set 1250 yen) This is definitely a dish that lives up to its reputation of being delicious. The umami of the tomato blends naturally with the spicy noodles... to put it bluntly, it's like a noodle soup with tomato. It's not bad at all. I like minestrone soup after all. As for the spiciness, I chose level 3 spicy and a milder option, so the tomato flavor is quite strong and covers it up. I think if you want it to be spicy, you need to increase the level quite a bit. I noticed that there are quite a few chunks of garlic in it, which is good. Of course, I chose the option with garlic, so that's a good thing. There's not much green onion like at Hachiryu, but... even so, with lots of garlic, maybe I can overlook that. Unfortunately, I didn't like the konnyaku noodles (๑-﹏-๑) It's like... because it's konnyaku, you know? Well, that's fine, but it's so chewy that I couldn't figure out when to swallow it. It just wouldn't break, so I ended up swallowing it almost whole. Could it be a challenge from the throat feelers? No, no, no, I always chew my udon thoroughly, and I will continue to do so. I won't choose konnyaku noodles again... I'm not concerned about calories or carbs, and if I don't like it, there's no point in choosing konnyaku noodles (;^ω^) I actually liked the cheese risotto more than the spicy noodles (laughs). I was puzzled when I added it and the cheese didn't melt, but if you leave it for a while, it melts. The tomato cheese risotto was really delicious, and I ended up getting quite full. I'm glad I ordered the ladies size. I'm quite happy that Mazumoto opened in a place that's easy for me to visit. I understand why people say it's delicious. It seems like the risotto is the main focus when you choose the tomato noodles, so the cost is a bit high, over 1000 yen for sure, but there are moments when you just want to eat this instead of other ramen dishes. I'm happy that the set comes with a drink. Although it's not spicy noodles, a few months ago, a tomato ramen shop opened in Uomachi. At the time, I decided to completely ignore it and didn't go, but I feel like I've awakened to the deliciousness of tomato ramen, so maybe I should go there too? One concern is that there are many choices for spiciness, size, and type of noodles, so it seems like it would be difficult to turn tables quickly. In a restaurant, there's a terminal where you can order by yourself, but here, you can only ask one person at a time. Even if the staff are efficient, first-time customers and returning customers will still hesitate at each step, and the process is time-consuming. It would be a shame to miss out on a lot of customers during peak times, and I'm a little worried about the sustainability of the business here (´・ω・`) There's nothing wrong with the shop itself, but the process of choosing can be time-consuming, so I hope they can manage it well.
