Here is the classic shumai from Kodotei! It is very delicious and a popular choice. The shrimp shumai has 6 layers of shrimp, making it very luxurious with an abundance of shrimp. This shrimp shumai is also very tasty.

Takeout, with a little effort, becomes a delicious dinner feast when steamed in a steamer. The shrimp is recommended, and the harmony between the dough and the filling of the meat bun is amazing! The Chinese restaurant in Nihonbashi has a permanent store in the Chinese corner of the Ginza department store basement. I came to buy some shumai. Since it's evening, there are discounted items available. The expiration date is for the same day. The roast pork for 593 yen and fried rice for 463 yen are both 200 yen off. I decided to buy them. The shumai I wanted, six pieces for 945 yen, had no discount. The roast pork is thickly sliced and comes with a sweet sauce. The fried rice portion is quite generous, which makes me very happy. I wish it had more pepper in it. The shumai allows you to enjoy their delicious taste.

I visited the Mitsukoshi Ginza store on June 14, 2015, at 6:00 PM. It is located on the 2nd basement floor of Mitsukoshi in Ginza 4-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Mitsukoshi is known for its department stores, and although it is now part of Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings, there are only three directly managed stores left in Nihonbashi, Ginza, and Chiba. Mitsukoshi Ginza store has many popular restaurants like Frederic Cassel and Jean-Paul Hevin. The food hall is also well-stocked, and today I tried the following: Shumai for 680 yen and Tori Kara Amadare for 324 yen. You can enjoy the authentic Shumai from the renowned Nihonbashi Chinese restaurant "Kodotei," which was established in 1944. The Shumai comes in a set of four for 680 yen, and each one is large and delicious. The Tori Kara Amadare was also tasty. It's great that you can easily enjoy Kodotei's Shumai at Mitsukoshi Ginza store.

I used it for lunch this time. I was unsure what to order, but I decided to buy a meat bun this time. Order content: Meat Bun 300 yen. The meat bun looks like a traditional one, with plenty of ingredients such as pork, bamboo shoots, and cabbage, but it was slightly dry and lacked juiciness. The shop is clean and has a beautiful display, with other delicious dim sum such as shumai available. It is a Chinese restaurant located in Mitsukoshi Ginza store.

My favorite shumai is "Kodotei Shumai" in Nihonbashi, which has a history of 80 years since its establishment. It has sold over 100 million pork shumai and is loved by many as a traditional taste in Tokyo. I used to go to the restaurant on the basement floor of Yurakucho's Bic Camera to eat shumai set meals, but unfortunately it closed in November of Reiwa 2. However, I am happy that you can still enjoy Kodotei Shumai in the depachika. Compared to typical shumai, Kodotei Shumai is large, packed with plenty of meat, and has a meaty taste. This shumai, with its firm texture, is delicious even without dipping it in soy sauce. It tastes great even when cold and is perfect as a side dish for rice!

After visiting Hakarime and Ribisco, I went shopping at the department store basement. I was looking for the shumai from Koendo-ten. Back when I worked in Kasumigaseki, Koendo-ten was very popular. It seems that the restaurant is no longer there. Now, at home, I enjoy the shumai with plenty of mustard and soy sauce. The taste, with its sweetness and ginger, remains the same. My mother says it's better than XXX-ken. Well, that's probably true.

My partner bought meat dumplings and char siu. The meat dumplings were heavy and packed with meat, giving a strong meaty flavor with a hint of sweetness. The char siu was made from various parts, and the one we got had just the right amount of fat. The meat dumplings were the most meaty I've ever had, and the char siu had a nice aroma from the spices used. We enjoyed them as they were, but also made fried rice with one pack, which was delicious with the char siu and egg.

Exciting souvenir. A small box filled with heavy, tightly packed shumai. It screams "shumai!" The shumai here should be steamed instead of heated in the microwave. Steaming it makes it hot and shiny. So, please give me plenty of soy sauce and mustard. Since each piece is large, it's not a bite but a big mouthful. The firm lump of well-mixed meat has incredible elasticity and satisfaction. Sweet treats are nice, but sometimes this kind of souvenir is good too.
