This is my first visit. The parking lot is located behind the building. It was around 1 pm and there were about 4 groups of customers ahead of us, but we were able to sit by the window. The view is great, so it must be lovely during sunset. The interior of the building is retro and very nice. I heard that it used to be a quarantine station back in the Meiji era. The gyokuro tea is delicious! They taught us how to drink it properly, and at the end, we enjoyed eating the tea leaves with crushed sesame and yuzu pepper with ponzu sauce like a salad. It was delicious and a great way to get all the vitamins! The rice cakes are simple and not too sweet, very tasty. They have a unique chewy texture, not like the usual mochi. You can have up to two servings of matcha. They also serve tea snacks. My son ordered it, and they served it in a tea set with a design of iris leaves and Mt. Fuji, which was a nice touch as Children's Day is approaching. This place is great. I definitely want to come back again.

On April 25, 2023✎︎__________・O-dango (rice dumplings) / 800 yen・O-shiruko (sweet red bean soup with rice cakes) / 800 yen▧Served with hojicha (roasted green tea) and homemade pickles✎︎__________Fifth stop on the day trip cafe tour in Hakodate♡ Quite a hectic schedule (lol). I really wanted to come here, so I'm glad I made it in time! They seem to close at sunset time, which varies daily, so I called ahead to check the closing time (*'ω'*). My friend had been here before and gave me some tips, which was really helpful♡ It's a historic building, apparently used to be the Hakodate Quarantine Station! The window seats offer a great view of Hakodate Bay, with a lovely scenery even during the daytime, but the sunset view is also beautiful (*´ω`*). It feels like time is flowing slowly in this space. The menu mainly focuses on teas from all over Japan! That caught my interest, but I was here for the o-dango♡ They tend to sell out early, so I got the last one this time...! The o-dango made with mochiko (glutinous rice flour) was fluffy and had a gentle taste! The anko (sweet red bean paste) was just the right amount of sweetness and I liked it (˘ω˘) The warmth of the hojicha makes you feel cozy♡ The pickles served as a palate cleanser were a nice touch! The o-shiruko also had plenty of anko! The mochi was soft and disappeared in no time, I almost wanted to get a refill of just the mochi (lol). The staff was very kind♡ The creaky floor added to the atmosphere! I'd love to come back again! Thank you for the meal♡

I visited on a Sunday evening. It was about an hour before sunset and the parking lot was full. I parked in the grassy area below. There was only one seat available inside, and the popular window seats had a waiting list. (Window seats have a 90-minute time limit) The dumplings were sold out, so I ordered drinks. ★Order: Hojicha ¥600, Milk Matcha ¥800 (It took almost an hour for the order to arrive) ★Sunset time: 16:55

I visited a tea shop with a nice view at the foreigner's cemetery in Funami-cho after a long time. There are quite a few seats, including those not by the window. I had sencha tea, which came with a sweet for 600 yen. It's a good idea to ask for an explanation on how to drink it.

I ordered the following: Odango (one mitarashi flavor, one anko flavor, one houjicha tea, and a set of homemade pickles) for 800 yen. I visited during the daytime, but I can imagine it would be lovely in the evening as well. I was able to relax while gazing at the sea. It wasn't crowded, maybe because it was a weekday, which was nice. It seems like a nice place for tourists as well as locals. Since there are many temples around, it could be a nice stop after visiting a grave. Although the odango didn't look fancy, they were incredibly soft and delicious. They were made with Hakodate rice flour, light, not too sweet, and I finished them quickly. The staff was elegant and had a good vibe. Thank you for the meal.

Recently, it seems that there has been an increase in young people visiting this place because it's trendy. It's a bit of a walk from Hakodate Station, but if you have time, I recommend stopping by. As the name suggests, it's a place to enjoy green tea, with a beautiful view of the sunset. The pink building, which used to be a quarantine station, gives off a historical vibe. I don't know much about green tea, so I selected based on the place of origin and name. I was impressed by how sweet the tea was! I leisurely enjoyed my tea while watching the ships passing by. Please note that they have long-term closures in winter and may close when the sun sets, so be careful when visiting.

On the way to the northernmost tip of Hokkaido, you can enjoy fragrant tea while gazing at the sea. Despite the cool visuals and sensations, this place warms both the heart and body. Each tea comes with a suitable sweetness. This time, I had "Ureshi no Cha" green tea with rice crackers and sweet bean rice cakes. I carefully brewed and enjoyed the tea. Time seems to flow slowly... Where else can you find a shop where you can enjoy tea while listening to the sound of the waves? I experienced a certain kind of entertainment in Hakodate.

I visited the tea shop "Yuuhi" which reopened after the winter break in 2022! It was a Sunday afternoon, so it was almost full and I had to wait for about 30 minutes until a window seat became available. You can move to a window seat in the order of arrival. Reservations are not accepted, so it's first come, first served. The cherry blossom tea available in spring was delicious. It was truly relaxing to have tea time while gazing at the sea. During a visit to Hakodate while exploring the stations in the Doonan region in March, I stopped by this renovated cafe facing Hakodate Bay. The cafe used to be the Hakodate Quarantine Station. I arrived just an hour before sunset, allowing me to enjoy the beautiful view as the sun went down. I ordered the seasonal special "Sakura Tea" (700 yen) while my companion chose the "Odango" (800 yen). The Sakura tea, a blend of deep-steamed green tea with sakura leaves and flowers, had a subtle sweetness with minimal bitterness or astringency, making it delicious. You can brew it yourself for the second serving by pouring hot water into the teapot until it's half full. The tea flavor intensifies with each brewing, remaining tasty even after the sixth serving. I may have had a bit too much (laughs). The accompanying sakura mochi was soft and fragrant, adding to the delightful experience. The "Odango" came with hojicha, and the Hakodate rice flour dumplings were elegantly sweet and enjoyable. It was a soothing experience with the lovely scenery and delicious tea. I would love to visit "Yuuhi" cafe again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The café I always visit when I go back to Hakodate. The view overlooks the sea, and the tea is delicious, always soothing. I usually go in the morning, but this time I went in the evening. Due to COVID measures, they were only open until 6 pm, but the cold roasted green tea was amazing at dusk. The warm hospitality of the owner couple also warms my heart. Check out more details here: Tea Shop Yuuhi - Sunset view is spectacular! Relax with cold roasted green tea and crumble pudding!

I felt the tranquility while taking a break with a cup of tea in this historic building with a 135-year history, just as the owner said. I focused on the silence and realized how quiet it was as I could hear the wind and birds' chirping. This shop serves tea from all over the country and it's delicious. It also comes with tea sweets.

The day after my business trip to Hakodate, I had some free time so I visited this place again. Just like the name suggests, the evening view was undeniably beautiful, but the view during the day was also very pleasant. I enjoyed watching the blue sky and sea, with boats passing by, while sipping on roasted green tea. The warmth of the tea slowly seeped into my body, creating a moment of pure bliss. Last year, I wrote, "If the situation with COVID settles down next year, I want to come here with someone..." but that dream didn't come true and I'm still alone, which is disappointing. Hopefully, next time I can travel without any worries and come here with someone special.

It's a sunny Sunday, perfect for cycling to my favorite tea shop, "Tea Shop Yuuhi." I prefer visiting in the morning because it tends to get crowded during sunset. This time, as expected, I had the place to myself and enjoyed the magnificent view. I tried the seasonal special, "Yame tea," which was smooth and delicious. I love this time of day the most! Check out more details here: "Tea Shop Yuuhi" with a stunning view is a great choice for spring! Enjoy Yame tea while overlooking the sea ♡ https://saron-sayuko.com/2021/04/15/teashopyuuhi-spring/

Before the winter closure, I visited Tea Shop Yuhisan in the morning to avoid the usual evening crowds. To my surprise, I had the whole place to myself! The Milk Houjicha was fluffy and had a gentle sweetness that warmed me up. As I left, the owners even gave me a warm "Take care and stay warm" along with a hot pack, which warmed my heart even more. For more details, check out Tea Shop Yuhisan's blog post. Enjoy a luxurious time having the view all to yourself in the morning before they close for winter!

First of all, the atmosphere inside the store is very nice. It's a warm and calming space. I was able to sit at a window seat that was available. - Milk Hojicha: Slightly sweet with a nice cinnamon aroma, very warming. Comes with a cookie. - Mitarashi Dango: Not too sweet, perfect taste. Among mitarashi dango, this is one of my favorites. The dango has a good chewy texture. Highly recommended. Each product was explained by the staff in a very polite manner. The quality of the products is also high. I would like to visit again when I come to Hakodate.

A Japanese tea cafe with a view of the sea. Always popular and full of customers!! The owners, a husband and wife, are kind and lovely. Their sweet red bean soup is also exquisite ♡ For more details, click here ☟ Enjoy a relaxing time at Tea Shop Yuuhi while looking at the sea and indulging in their "exquisite sweet red bean soup" ♡ https://saron-sayuko.com/2020/11/09/teashopyuuhi-hakodate/

I went to "Tea Shop Yuhi" on this day. The mountain ridge was clearly visible on this day. It was getting colder and the air was getting clear, so I decided that today was the best day to come here. When I arrived just before 3 p.m., several cars were already parked in the parking lot. Inside the shop, there were 6 groups of customers already seated and 1 group waiting. The waitress announced that the window seats were full. I chose a seat in the middle of the shop, hoping to be moved to a window seat later. I asked the waitress for recommendations on Japanese tea since it was my first time trying it. She suggested the most popular "Kirishima tea" and her personal favorite "Ise tea." I ordered the "Kirishima tea." It came with "arare" and "ohagi" as tea snacks. The shop owner taught me how to brew Japanese tea and allowed me to brew my own tea from the second cup onwards. The tea had a rich umami flavor with a hint of sweetness. It was a bit surprising and impressive. The tea I brewed myself for the second cup was unfortunately a bit bitter. I soon moved to a window seat that became available. The view of the sunset was truly beautiful! I felt good about coming here today. I enjoyed my tea time while admiring the view.

On the third day of my stay in Hakodate, I took a streetcar to explore the city. I got off at the last stop, "Hakodate Dock," and walked to this cafe called "Tea Shop Yuhin." It was recommended by a local acquaintance in Hakodate. Although it was a bit early to see the sunset, I enjoyed a delicious tea and dessert while gazing at the sea. On my way back, I encountered a lovely cat. Thank you for the wonderful time!

I moved to Hokkaido. Even though I can only stay for a limited period of a few months for work, I am happy to live in my favorite Hokkaido. It has been over a week since I started living in Sapporo, and today I went to Hakodate. Spending this year's summer vacation traveling alone within the prefecture due to the corona pandemic. It takes less than 4 hours by limited express from Sapporo to Hakodate. Hokkaido is so vast that the sense of distance from Honshu does not apply. It has been a few years since I last visited Hakodate. There are more new hotels in front of the station, and the area has been further developed. I definitely wanted to go if the weather was clear, to this cafe where you can see beautiful sunsets, Tea Shop Yuhisan. This cafe is a house by the sea, and from the window seat facing the sea, you can see beautiful sunsets and squid fishing boats. By the way, this charming pink building used to be a quarantine station. Speaking of which, there are many colorful houses in Hokkaido, is it because they stand out in the white snow? Or is it because Russia is nearby? There are quite a few pink houses here. Oh, I digressed, let's get back to the cafe. The prime seats on holidays seem to be a battle, but I was lucky to sit this time as it was a weekday. Tea time with a beautiful sunset is a blissful moment. The sweets and tea were even more delicious than I imagined, and I couldn't help but smile. But since I'm traveling alone this time, it's really a shame that I can't share this excitement with anyone. I want to share the real scenery in front of me, not just by sending photos on LINE. I want to visit this place with someone when the situation calms down.

Tea Shop Yuhi in Hakodate, Hokkaido, just before closing. Foodlog rating: 3.41. I had the cold soba tea with tea sweets for 600 yen including tax. The shop is about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop "Funamicho" and has a cute pink exterior. The inside of the shop is even more lovely. It used to be a quarantine station, but now it's a cafe where you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea and sunset. They have a variety of tea options, each served with matching tea sweets. I had fried steamed buns with the cold soba tea, and sesame dumplings with the green tea. We wanted to see the sunset, but we arrived around 2:30 pm, so we missed it. However, the architecture and interior of the shop are very nice, and sitting on the seaside of the shop is more likely when it's not sunset time. It's highly recommended even outside of sunset time. As the sunset approached, the sunlight coming into the shop became too bright. The view and the interior were really nice, making it a relaxing cafe to spend time in.
