I think an izakaya is a place like this. They have all kinds of alcohol and a variety of snacks. They serve sashimi and have a menu that features whale dishes. They offer fried foods and yakisoba. It's not fancy, but that's how izakayas were in the Showa era. The way they cut the sashimi is thick, which is common in Kansai-style restaurants. The whale menu might be controversial due to its smell, but personally, I like it because it's nostalgic and rare. If there was one near my workplace, I would definitely visit. Thank you for the meal.

This is a great izakaya (Japanese pub) restaurant. We used it for a company gathering. If you make a reservation, the staff will come up with a variety of dishes for you. The dishes served are typical izakaya menu items and are all pretty tasty. It's convenient to have this kind of restaurant located right near the train station.

On December 9, 2021, I received a dish consisting of assorted sashimi, red snapper, bluefin tuna, salmon, fried food assortment, chicken karaage, sausages, french fries, steak, sushi, tamagoyaki, edamame, hot pot, ramen, yuzu ice, highball, barley shochu, and carbonated water.

I came to a large izakaya near JR Taisho Station. I quench my thirst with a draft beer. Lately, it's common for it to be served in slim glasses. The appetizer is pickled radish salad. It's refreshing with vinegar. There's simmered radish, soaked in miso paste, both white and red. There's also simmered konjac with two types of miso on top. I ordered a shochu highball with Kuro Kirishima. In Osaka, when you think of oden, beef tendon is a must. The thick fried tofu is also well-flavored. I saw bacon on the menu and thought it might be whale bacon, but it turned out to be pork bacon. There were a lot of whale-related dishes on the menu, so I assumed it was whale bacon. ◎Osaka City Taisho Izakaya Drinking◎I wanted to drink at a casual izakaya in Taisho, so I went to "Yoake" located near Taisho Station. The restaurant has been recently renovated and is now a clean and spacious place. On this day, I enjoyed dishes such as pickled radish (150 yen), salt yakisoba (270 yen), assorted kushikatsu (480 yen), rolled omelette (330 yen), dried Atka mackerel (480 yen), potato fries (270 yen), grilled chicken skin with salt (300 yen), and red Vienna sausage (380 yen). The salt yakisoba (270 yen) that I wanted to try was simple and delicious, just as it looked! The crispy noodles with salt seasoning were perfect for me. The other dishes were reasonably priced and tasty as well. They also have unusual items on the menu like whale meat. The menu has also been updated and now includes wine. First and foremost, the menu item that Japanese people should order in Osaka, the "Harihari Nabe @780 yen," is a must. Listen, if you went to a place like Tokyo, you wouldn't be able to eat this at this price. This is Osaka's food culture. This is Osaka's izakaya. Additionally, the "Suzoba @270 yen" is also a must-try item. When you come here, it has to be the suzoba. It's like yakisoba without the toppings (with bean sprouts). Pay attention to the prices as well. This combination is enough to talk about the greatness of this restaurant. Just outside the JR Osaka Loop Line Taisho Station ticket gate, there is a izakaya right across the main street with a sign saying it's a banquet venue near the station. The interior is clearly designed for groups, with tables lined up and a tatami area in the back. As a typical Osaka izakaya, they offer a variety of dishes on the menu. The nikujaga (meat and potato stew) here has a unique curry flavor. When you order it, the staff confirms that it's curry-flavored, which is nice. Another mysterious item on the menu is "susoba" - it sounds like "soba" noodles, so you might think it's a cold soba dish. Curious, I ordered it, only to find out it was some kind of yakisoba with a light taste, and surprisingly affordable at 270 yen. Osaka izakayas never cease to amaze!

The HR manager from the Tokyo headquarters was staying at a hotel in Nishikujo, Osaka, so I had dinner at JR Taisho Station. I visited a popular izakaya near the station before 6 pm, with no customers inside. I was worried, but by 7 pm, it was fully packed. They even started seating customers on the second floor. The prices range from 270 yen to 500 yen, with a wide variety of dishes at a reasonable price. The recommended seafood dishes were average in price and quality, making it a great place for a lively group gathering. Some of the dishes include seared red snapper for 400 yen, grilled cod milt with soy sauce for 400 yen, fried cod milt for 400 yen, fried chicken for 480 yen, yakisoba with sauce for 520 yen, red Vienna sausage for 380 yen, grilled squid for 450 yen, grilled stingray fin for 450 yen, homemade potato salad for 420 yen, pickled radish for 380 yen, fried chicken cartilage for 300 yen, and fried shako (mantis shrimp) for 380 yen.

There are table seats on the first floor, and there is a banquet hall on the upper floors, so it can accommodate both small and large groups. When I bring my child, I usually order donburi because regular izakayas don't fill them up, but here they have donburi options which are delicious, and even the miso soup has big clams in it. The sashimi platter is always fresh and tasty. They also have recommended daily specials, and the menu is extensive with reasonably priced whale dishes. The finishing touch is the sukiyaki, which only has bean sprouts and green onions but is delicious with a light salt flavor. You can also add Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor. For banquets, there are course menus and all-you-can-drink options available. It's always crowded, so it's best to make a reservation by phone even for small groups!

Introducing a bustling izakaya near Taisho Station. I had passed by the shop many times but never had the chance to visit until tonight when I went with a senior colleague from work. The restaurant was filled with groups of about 10 people as well as smaller groups, with the first floor being packed. Some customers later disappeared into the back, so I assume there must be a second floor as well (laughs). The menu had reasonable prices and a good variety of dishes, making it great. The potato salad was delicious, a perfect match with beer! The whale sashimi was full of flavor with a nice balance of fat. The octopus balls from Akashi were crispy and fresh. I ordered grilled "gengue" without knowing what it was, but it turned out to be delicious with a nice char. Later I found out it's a deep-sea fish, probably the first time I've ever had deep-sea fish in my life. On the way out, I saw two middle-aged women with a bottle of black Kirishima shochu on their table, which they seemed to be keeping. They were enjoying it with gusto, very cool! Overall, it was a great restaurant. I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the meal!
