In recent years, due to the influence of the media, the squid in the Kamminato district has become very famous. As a result, on weekends, there are countless cars overflowing. Especially along the newly opened Route 495 bypass, the new shops are so crowded with customers that you can't even get in. However, Kamminato was originally a quiet fishing village along the coast. There have always been many inns and restaurants serving squid there, but with the opening of the highway, cars no longer come into the old town area as much. In the midst of this, there is the Genkai Inn, which has been serving squid for a long time. The building may feel a bit old, but they have a traditional hall that they partition off to accommodate day-trippers. When it comes to eating seafood, it's best to do so near the sea while looking out at the ocean. They fulfill that wish for you. The all-squid meal was 3500 yen, but it was worth the price in terms of freshness and taste.

At Genkai Ryokan, located right next to Munakata's Shinminato Port, I had the Uni-Ika bowl for lunch. It's been a while since I had a plate of Uni like this~♪ The squid looks so fresh and translucent. Placing the Uni on top of the squid, let's dig in! The view of the Genkai Sea in front of me is breathtaking. In the distance, you can see Oshima, one of Munakata's three shrines, Nakatsu Shrine. The sea has high transparency. A flock of seagulls resting on the sandy beach. Over at the breakwater, fishermen were dangling their fishing lines. As I took a photo, one seagull flew away. It seems like I disturbed them while they were resting (^-^)ゞ The plate of Uni I had after a long time was sweet and delicious.

I had about an hour to spare before meeting on Oshima Island, so I decided to have lunch here on a whim. This place seemed popular, and all the tatami-floored dining areas with tables were full. I went for the 2,600 yen seafood set meal, which turned out to be delicious. The dishes, made with fresh ingredients from the Genkai Sea and skillful techniques, were truly satisfying. The view outside the window was of the sea, with Oshima Island clearly visible in the distance – a perfect backdrop. Many families with young children were also dining here, and I thought this must have been a great family experience.
