He has been in Japan for 7-8 years and can manage daily conversations in Japanese. On the other hand, my wife and I are at the level of junior high school English. Despite the language barrier, we had a great time laughing and joking at the gym and during this drinking party. Before we knew it, it was almost time for the last train at the second Irish bar we went to. He is 185 cm tall, weighs 103 kg, and has a 50 cm arm circumference, making me, with a 40 cm arm circumference, look small in comparison. We reserved the popular "Sumitoko Meat-Lovers Recommended Course" with a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option for 4800 yen (tax included). The course includes a total of 300 grams of meat per person and consists of 10 dishes. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley off the main street, but it was full on this weekend night. Located in Gion, Hakata-ku, Sumitoko is a restaurant where you can enjoy meat dishes. I visited for lunch for the first time in about 3 years. The 100% black wagyu beef lunch costs 1,020 yen. On the plate, there are plenty of vegetables, a wiener, potatoes, a fried egg, and a hamburger. It also comes with miso soup. The hamburger comes with salt and sauce on the side, so you can enjoy it with your preferred flavor. The meat is tender and fluffy. I was able to enjoy my meal slowly in the open and spacious atmosphere of the restaurant.

I have always wanted to visit this restaurant. The atmosphere and openness of the place are perfect. It is a space where you can enjoy dining alone or with a group. The meat dishes are outstanding, but personally, I really liked the tofu (maybe cheese?) and crackers as a side dish this time! I had some errands in Gion and decided to have lunch there before heading back. The restaurant opened at 11:30, and when I arrived a little past that, there were already 5 customers ahead of me. Even though I was dining alone, I was seated at a table for two instead of the counter. I was curious about the steak, but ended up ordering the 100% wagyu hamburger lunch set for 1020 yen. I chose the small rice option. The set came with salad and miso soup. While waiting, the delicious smell of meat being cooked filled the whole restaurant, making it even more appetizing. The salad had plenty of sliced radish, which was a nice surprise. The set also included a wiener and fried potatoes, which seemed homemade. The sunny-side-up egg that came with the hamburger was really tasty. The hamburger itself was delicious, with sauce and rock salt on the side adding even more flavor. I also noticed they had pork steak and black wagyu steak on the menu, so I definitely plan on coming back. By around noon, the restaurant was packed with salarymen and office ladies, so I recommend aiming for an 11:30 arrival if you plan to visit. Despite being busy, the staff, consisting of just one server and one cook, managed everything efficiently. They were very polite and kind, even under pressure. The interior of the restaurant was cute and stylish as well.

The meat was so juicy and delicious, with plenty of mineral-rich French rock salt and sweet, thick Miyazaki soy sauce. I want to try the zabuton, ichibo, and marushin next time. I had the hamburger bento and the black wagyu beef cutlet bento for the first time, and both were incredibly juicy and tender, even when cold. I would love to eat them again if I have the chance. Hidden gem in the backstreets: Grill Sumitoko (Sumitoko) {Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City} July 20, 2019 (Sat) This place is located behind the GION 1-1 pachinko parlor on Oohiradōri. I used to wander around this area at night in the past. The photo was taken on my way back. The restaurant was still empty when I arrived early, but as it approached noon, customers started coming in one after another and it was soon full! I ordered a dish under 1,000 yen from the menu. You can choose from large, medium, or small for the rice, so I asked for something in between medium and large. The grilled pork steak made from Yonemoto pork @900 yen (tax included) arrived. The condiments were salt and Worcestershire sauce. The side dishes included a vegetable salad, wiener sausages, and potatoes. The meat had a perfect texture, not too soft or too tough. The meat itself was delicious, but the fat that came out from it was also tasty. It would have been perfect with a cup of coffee. 2-35 Gionmachi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed on irregular days. The hamburg steak is made from ground 100% Wagyu beef that is ground in the store, a special dish they take pride in. It was delicious when combined with the Japanese-style sauce and eaten with a sunny-side-up egg, satisfyingly meaty yet refreshing! They mentioned that you can get a rice refill, but this time, I decided to enjoy the meat first without ordering it. The evening course also offers a substantial amount of meat, with a meat bar style, and like the lunch menu, there are cost-effective course options available. I had the opportunity to order bento boxes for work many times, but this time we enjoyed a course meal with a large group of senior colleagues at their favorite place. The steak and hamburger had a delicious aroma, tender texture, and the savory juices spread throughout my mouth. The taste and portion size were both satisfying, and the beer and highball just kept flowing, making it the ultimate dining experience after a sports event.

I ordered the SanKaku Steak S and YakiSuki S separately, but every menu item is really delicious. The prices are also reasonable. I will definitely come back again.
