This is a creative deep-fried skewer restaurant located in Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City. Although it may seem more like a skewered cutlet place than a deep-fried skewer one, it has been in business in this area for a long time, catering to a loyal fan base. There is now a branch near Hakata Station, but a few years ago, there was also one in Akasaka, Chuo-ku. I remembered how delicious the lunch was back then, so I decided to visit the Nishijin branch. It is located along the main street of the shopping district from Nishijin to Fujisaki. It is a 4-5 minute walk from Nishijin subway station. It has recently been renovated and looks nice. Most deep-fried skewer restaurants in the central area of Fukuoka have a more adult-oriented interior design with a main counter, but this area is also a student and residential area, so the main seating in the restaurant is tables, making it easy for young people and families to use. The staff, mainly female, including the fryer, were all women. Their soft and feminine atmosphere is nice. Cheers with a draft beer! A vegetable stick salad was set on the table as a starter. You can pour your preferred amount of condiments from the table, including lemon, salt, yuzu miso, tartar sauce, and regular sauce. This time, I ordered the 12-piece deep-fried skewer course for 2,700 yen, which includes the stick salad and a small side dish. The menu included shrimp wrapped in shiso, pork fillet with eggplant, a palate cleanser (for 2 people), green beans and bamboo ring with spicy cod roe sauce, deep-fried single green asparagus, okra, octopus, and cheese, horse mackerel with condiments, cherry tomato wrapped in meat, scallop with Genovese sauce, young chicken and celery, squid wrapped in myoga. Compared to a few years ago, my experience with deep-fried skewers has improved, so I wasn't as impressed as before, but I still thought this was the place to go for delicious deep-fried skewers in Nishijin. The staff's demeanor is good, and the atmosphere is nice. They use rice oil for frying, as advertised by the restaurant, so it doesn't make you feel heavy at all. It's almost like you could keep eating forever (laughs). Your clothes and hair won't smell like oil either. So, I ordered more. Mushroom with condiments, deep-fried chicken wings shaped like tulips. I felt like I could eat even more, but I decided to stop for today! Finally, I received a dessert as a service. They also offer a rice tea porridge for those who want to finish with carbohydrates for 500 yen. They also serve lunch. They have a "Happiness Lunch" for 1,500 yen, as seen on the restaurant's Facebook page.【Restaurant Name】Kushiage Hyotan Nishijin Branch Official HP【Address】5-1-11 Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture【Business Hours】12:00-14:30, 17:30-23:30 *Please confirm【Closed】Irregular holidays *Please confirm*5 minutes walk from Nishijin subway station.
