Pierre Herme is a concept shop that selects and showcases the wonderful things of Japan to the world. With 3 stores in Tokyo (Marunouchi, Gransta Tokyo, Kichijoji), the shop at Fukuoka Airport followed suit. I have visited a few times this summer to purchase and enjoy their sophisticated and exquisite macarons. Not only for purchasing, but also to enjoy a cold drink, I dined in at the open cafe.
- Macaron: 1 piece for 300 yen (excluding tax)
Treated like fresh confectionery, Herme's macarons. If you let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before eating it refrigerated, the aroma and texture become more prominent. While sipping on a cold drink and waiting a bit, I enjoyed it. The sophisticated and exquisite sweets have an elegant appearance. The macaron cookie has a crispy outer layer and a sweet and gentle filling, creating a wonderful harmony. I also tried their croissant, considered the most delicious in Paris. It was a summer where I visited here a few times to meet friends and find solace at the airport amidst the unsettled times due to the pandemic. The store also offers gifts that are perfect for souvenirs. They collaborate with excellent producers from various regions in Japan to offer food products and miscellaneous goods. I purchased various items such as seaweed, mayonnaise, and canned goods. Among them, the mayonnaise was my favorite.
- Specialty Mayonnaise from Egg Farmer: 950 yen (excluding tax) 170g
Made with eggs from a farm in Aichi Prefecture that raises hens on completely plant-based feed, using the farm's pride and joy rice eggs. The ingredients include olive oil from Spain, rice eggs from Cocoteras, grape vinegar, sugar, salt, and mustard. A mayonnaise made with high-quality olive oil without any additives. It has a deep and special flavor similar to French sauce. I used half of it to make a jar of tartar sauce at home, and it turned out to be exquisite. I became curious to try the rice eggs from Cocoteras themselves. A concept shop with a focus on details. You can encounter unique and interesting items from Pierre Herme's perspective.
