I obtained information about a café specializing in Thai cuisine, "Khao Man Gai," in Namba, Osaka, so I decided to visit it. It is conveniently located near the nearest Osaka Metro and Nankai stations, making it easy to get to. I arrived on a certain holiday after 1:00 PM. Upon entering the café, I noticed the cashier on the right side where you have to order and pay first. I quickly checked the lunch menu on the side (see photo 2). I decided to go with the "Khao Man Gai" (935 yen) labeled as the "specialty" on the top left. Since it said "extra rice for free!!!" I naturally asked for it. After paying, I was guided to the second-floor seating area. The café was more spacious than I expected, with a seemingly large number of seats (according to Tabelog information, there are "35 tables"). The self-service water station had a casual fast-food restaurant vibe, with a slightly tropical local feel in the interior. The customers were mostly young people, with many students present, and even a few in uniforms. While there were some solo male customers, it seemed like there were more pairs of women or couples, possibly due to the nature of the food or the café concept. The food was served in about 7 minutes after paying (see photo 3). The dish included rice, chicken, a small soup, and a sauce dish. The main plate also had a cabbage salad with dressing. The rice was surprisingly light and fluffy, almost like "regular white rice." The portion was quite generous, as expected from the "extra rice" option. The chicken included two types, one being breast meat and the other thigh meat. The thigh meat was tender and juicy, while the breast meat was lean and light. The special sauce had grated garlic, giving it a strong flavor. You could mix it with the chicken or drizzle sesame oil from the table to enhance the taste. I tried different ways to apply the sauce, but found that lightly drizzling it with a spoon over the chicken worked best. After finishing the meal, I left quickly. The casual atmosphere makes it easy for young people to visit and enjoy a simple "Khao Man Gai" meal. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.
