For nearly 30 years, I have been enjoying the motsunabe at Kawabata, introduced to me by a local colleague. The taste remains unchanged, giving me a sense of relief and respect. The rich extract of the offal, combined with garlic and special sauce in the delicious soup, always leaves me satisfied. Typically, ordering the vinegar offal (400 yen) and motsunabe (1,200 yen) is enough, making it feel like a familiar meal at a regular restaurant. I usually finish eating in about 30 minutes at one of the tables and then head to Nakasu. This is what they call "fitting into a mold." It's important not to waste energy and to save it for after Nakasu (laughs).

After studying the reviews of professional restaurants in Hakata for a solo night out in Fukuoka for the first time in five years, I narrowed down my choices to two restaurants. One of them was a restaurant known for its motsunabe (tripe hot pot). Motsunabe is not commonly found in Fukuoka, as seafood or Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) are more popular choices for gatherings. I made a reservation just in case, and luckily, there was a seat available for me. As I walked through the nostalgic Kawabata Shopping Street towards the restaurant, memories of the late-night walks I used to take in this area decades ago flooded back. The restaurant had a modest and simple entrance, and I was led to a cozy tatami room in the back. I started with a cold beer and some simmered beef tendons, followed by a serving of motsunabe. The soup base was soy sauce-based with a hint of garlic and chili pepper, creating a flavorful and slightly spicy broth. The ingredients included tender tripe, cabbage, burdock root, and tofu, all cooked to perfection. The meal was satisfying, and I even ordered champon noodles as a finishing touch. The staff advised me to wait until the noodles were plump before eating them, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. The service was efficient and pleasant, which was a pleasant surprise considering the restaurant's popularity. Overall, the motsunabe was simple yet delicious, capturing the essence of fresh tripe and vegetables. As I finished my meal and prepared to head to the bustling entertainment district of Nakasu, I couldn't help but appreciate the wonderful dining experience I had just enjoyed.

There is a motsunabe (tripe hot pot) restaurant in Nakasu Kawabata Shotengai. They open promptly at 11:30. They have a variety of appetizers besides motsunabe, so you can enjoy other dishes as well. I started with kimchi, which was served quickly, and enjoyed it with beer. Day drinking is the best! The motsu in the motsunabe was cooked perfectly, staying firm and delicious even after being cooked for a long time. I added more vegetables and the noodles at the end were also tasty. I planned to have zosui (rice soup) with the soup, but I was too full and had to give up. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I made a reservation before 12:00 on a regular day and visited for the first time. I was seated at a private table and ordered a highball, a bite-sized gyoza, and the limited 5 servings of horse liver sashimi. It was scorching hot... After 12:00, groups of nearby office workers and reserved customers started coming in and filled up the tatami rooms. After finishing the horse liver and gyoza, I added a black sugar plum wine on the rocks and homemade seared char siu. The char siu paired well with the plum wine. Then I ordered the main dish, a portion of motsu nabe for one person. I added some garlic chives. For drinks, I had the grandma's plum wine on the rocks. The fruity sweetness complemented the richness and spiciness of the motsu nabe perfectly. I enjoyed slowly savoring the motsu nabe alone. The soup gradually developed a sweet and spicy flavor. I would put garlic chives, vegetables, and motsu in my mouth together, savoring the flavors before sipping the plum wine. It was a delightful experience that I could repeat endlessly even in the scorching heat. It turned out to be a wonderful daytime drinking session.

Despite visiting without a reservation during a busy period, we received pleasant service. The simmered tripe had a strong flavor but was easy to eat, unlike traditional Kansai-style dishes. The tripe hot pot was so delicious that we wanted to take the soup home in a flask. We finished with champon noodles!

First time visiting. I arrived early, but they kindly welcomed me. I ordered raw beef tripe and char siu. The char siu's aroma was amazing! Then I had tripe hot pot, a bite-sized gyoza, and simmered beef tendon. The tripe had no unpleasant smell, and the soup was delicious with a strong garlic flavor! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited this place for lunch. The simple soy sauce-flavored motsunabe with champon was delicious. I ordered extra vegetables, but if you get a regular portion, it seems like there would be very few vegetables (lol). The motsu had a hint of sweetness, and it was really tasty when eaten with yuzu pepper for flavor variation. I slightly regretted not getting the large portion because it was that good. I would like to try going back for dinner as well.

I visited "Gyutan Motsu Nabe Kawabata," which I had been curious about. I found out that they are open for lunch, so I decided to visit during the day. It was easy to get a table and the atmosphere was relaxed. They started serving lunch due to the pandemic. I tried the Motsu Nabe Champon, which is a lunch exclusive item. I ordered the regular size with a spicy level. It had a delicious aroma and was a traditional soy sauce-based broth with a hint of garlic. It was like having the finishing touch of a motsu nabe dish. The spiciness was just right, and you can add chili peppers or yuzu pepper from the condiments on the table. I look forward to trying their dinner menu as well. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch experience.

You can enjoy a full meal for 4400 yen (tax included). Almost all drinks are all-you-can-drink. - The raw pork intestine with ponzu sauce is delicious. - The stir-fried pork, bean sprouts, and chives have a unique flavor and are delicious. - The chicken wing dumplings and garlic fried potatoes are good, but you don't need so many fries. - The soy sauce-flavored motsunabe is gentle and tasty. It has a flavor that everyone can enjoy. - The champon noodles at the end were also delicious. There were a lot of tourists. I wonder if it's listed in the guidebook. I'm very satisfied with being able to drink and eat well for 4400 yen. Thank you for the meal.

I went alone. Around 7:30 in the evening. I had one motsunabe, edamame, simmered beef tendon, and two bottles of beer, totaling around 3500 yen. The motsunabe was served very quickly, piping hot, and the staff assured me it was ready to eat right away. The fat was removed, the leeks and cabbage were crunchy and sweet, and it was delicious. I didn't have to worry about when to eat it, which was convenient. The bottled beer was reasonably priced, so I ended up drinking two while enjoying the motsunabe. The edamame smelled good, and the simmered beef tendon was sweet and tasty. Despite being over 40 and having a big appetite, I felt the portion was a bit lacking. I was still hungry afterwards, so I went to the udon restaurant diagonally across the street. I realized that motsunabe is more enjoyable when shared with others in a crowded pot, and dining alone wasn't as fun. However, the restaurant accommodated solo diners and the staff and other customers were quiet and efficient, which I appreciated. There was an elderly lady at a table nearby who seemed happy eating a lot by herself. I also liked that smoking was allowed.

After enjoying ramen at a food stall, I wanted to try motsunabe when I came to Hakata. I visited 2 or 3 places in Nakasu, but they were all fully booked. Finally, I found a place outside of Nakasu where I could eat. It was almost closing time, but they kindly let me in. It was a Saturday night, so the place was packed with locals. The prices and atmosphere were down-to-earth, but the taste was great.

I visited this restaurant in Hakata on the first night of my 2-night, 3-day trip to Fukuoka and Oita. It seemed to be popular among tourists, but I was curious if locals also frequented the place. I arrived early, but the restaurant was already full and several groups were being turned away. The horse liver dish had a slight aftertaste, but was still enjoyable. Overall, I didn't feel that the food was significantly different from other places. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Thank you for the meal.

Fukuoka lunch motsunabe (tripe hot pot) at Chanpon Tamago is priced at 1,430 yen for one person, with an additional 200 yen. The restaurant in Nakasu Kawabata seems to be popular as it was fully booked on weekdays. It's convenient that you can make a reservation for one person on Tabelog (a restaurant review website) and earn T-points as well. The portion of motsu (tripe) is moderate, but the hot and delicious chanpon (noodle dish) at the end was satisfying.

This is my favorite motsunabe I have ever eaten. I also had gyoza and beef tendon. The motsunabe was light and easy to eat. The gyoza and beef tendon went really well with beer. Even though I ordered just one serving, the portion was quite generous. I was torn between ordering zosui and champon, but I chose zosui and left the restaurant feeling more than satisfied and in a good mood. There were many female customers, and it's a great option for those heading home after watching a play at the Hakata Za.

I went to Gyu Motsubu Kawabata in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City on February 1, 2023. It was extremely cold that day. When it's this cold, I crave hot soup dishes. The restaurant next door had a long line, but I didn't feel like waiting in the cold. The lunch menu at this place offers two options: regular or large Gyu Motsubu Champon. You can also add rice or extra vegetables for an additional 110 yen. I ordered the regular Gyu Motsubu Champon for 770 yen (tax included) and a side of rice for 110 yen (tax included). The portion of rice was quite generous. The Gyu Motsubu Champon included leeks, cabbage, burdock tofu, beef tripe, and chili peppers in a soy sauce-based soup with garlic and a spicy kick. The umami flavor of the beef tripe was incredibly delicious. The piping hot soup warmed me up in the freezing cold. There were about 7-8 tender and tasty pieces of beef tripe in the dish. The Champon noodles soaked up the flavor of the beef tripe, creating a chewy and delicious combination with the rice. It was a satisfying and delicious local specialty dish. The restaurant is located at 9-1 Kamikawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed on Sundays.

I finally got to try the delicious motsunabe lunch that my acquaintance had posted on SNS, and it was so good! It was a cold day with snow falling outside, so I really wanted something warm to eat. The motsunabe was very satisfying, and I would love to go back again when I have the chance, maybe for dinner to enjoy it slowly.

When you think of Hakata, you think of motsunabe. So this time, we went to Gyutan Kawabata for beef motsunabe. It's located between Nakasu Kawabata and Gion. The exterior has a retro feel that adds to its charm. We had a course meal and every dish was delicious. The motsunabe came with cabbage, leeks, bean sprouts, and motsu. We even got a refill on the motsu.

Three people from Hiroshima and I went to Motsunabe Kawabata. Since my last name is Kawabata, I felt a sense of closeness. It's often difficult to make reservations during the New Year, but when I called for a same-day reservation, they kindly changed a 3-person table to a 4-person table. Their flexible response was very helpful. While waiting for the motsunabe, we ordered gyoza and char siu. We ordered two servings of motsunabe, and it quickly disappeared as we enjoyed adding chili peppers and yuzu pepper for flavor. The motsunabe even had delicious thigh meat. We finished with champon. Thank you for the meal.

Before returning to Tokyo, I had motsunabe at Kawabata-san for lunch. The gentle soy sauce broth was perfect for lunch. The motsunabe was delicious as expected, but what surprised me was the bite-sized gyoza! I couldn't resist ordering it after watching the careful preparation at the table. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside! It was irresistible. The garlic that was peeled after making the gyoza also looked delicious! It's a luxury! Thank you for the meal.

It was cold, so I wanted to warm up with a soup lunch, and on this day I headed to Gyumotsu Nabe Kawabata near the Kawabata shopping street. I arrived just after they opened at 11:30, being the first customer. Even though they serve alcohol during lunch, I ordered the large Gyumotsu Nabe Champon for 990 yen. I also asked for a bowl of rice for 110 yen. After waiting for about 10 minutes, a huge bowl of Gyumotsu Nabe Champon was served. They mentioned that the large size comes with 1.5 times more vegetables. I melted the yuzu pepper on the table and took a sip of the soup, which had a delicious flavor from the soy sauce base and the umami of the vegetables and motsu. The motsu was chewy and tasty! I enjoyed the rice in between bites, gradually reducing the amount, and finally poured the soup over it to enjoy it like a porridge. It was really delicious and I was full. Thank you for the meal. By the way, on the way to the restaurant, I saw a crowd near the nearby Reisen Park... I approached and realized it was an impromptu signing event by the Goripara members? Maybe they were there for a photoshoot. I hurried to lunch, glancing at the line.

First visit. I passed by this shop and was curious about it. I ordered the "Motsu Chanpon" and it arrived in about 10 minutes. It was delicious from the first bite! It's great to have hot chanpon on a cold day. The large size had a good volume. The motsu (offal) was also delicious. I think I'll focus on motsu dishes this week. I'm full. Thank you for the meal.

The service, quality of the food, and speed were excellent. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere that reflected a delicious motsunabe (offal hot pot) place. We went with four people, and it's recommended to order at least three servings of motsunabe. The pot gets smaller with only two servings. Smoking is allowed, but the smell wasn't too bothersome. This might be due to good ventilation and proper distancing between customers.
